Uddhava Gītā is a deep spiritual teaching given by Lord Krishna to His close devotee Uddhava. It is found in the Bhāgavata Purāṇa, mainly in the final part known as the Eleventh Canto. Lord Krishna gives these teachings to Uddhava before He leaves the earthly world.
Uddhava asks Krishna important questions about life, Dharma, devotion, the mind, the Self, and the path to spiritual freedom. Krishna explains that the world is temporary and that people should not become overly attached to material things. He teaches Uddhava how to control the mind, perform one’s duties, develop devotion, and understand the true nature of the Self.
One important part of the Uddhava Gītā is the story of the Avadhūta, who learned valuable lessons from nature and everyday life. Krishna uses these teachings to show Uddhava that wisdom can be found everywhere when a person observes life with an open and peaceful mind.
The Uddhava Gītā gives importance to Bhakti, Jñāna, Yoga, self-control, detachment, compassion, and surrender to God. Its central message is that a person can find lasting peace by reducing attachment, controlling the mind, serving others, gaining true knowledge, and developing sincere devotion to the Divine.
