Vibhīśaṇa Gītā is a beautiful teaching from the Yuddha Kanda of the Ramayana. It takes place during the great battle between Lord Rama and Ravana. Vibhīṣaṇa becomes worried when he sees Lord Rama preparing for battle without a large chariot, armor, or many weapons, while Ravana has a powerful war chariot and many weapons.
Seeing this, Vibhīṣaṇa asks Lord Rama how he can defeat such a mighty enemy. Lord Rama then explains that his real chariot is the Chariot of Dharma, which is much more powerful than any physical chariot. Its wheels are courage and patience, its flag is truth and good character, and its horses represent strength, discrimination, self-control, and care for others.
Lord Rama also explains that devotion to God, charity, wisdom, compassion, and knowledge of the Self are the true weapons of a righteous person. Vibhīṣaṇa Gītā teaches that true victory comes from Dharma, good character, courage, self-control, and spiritual wisdom—not from physical power alone.
