Maa Chintpurni Temple, also known as Chinnamastika Shakti Peeth, is located in Chintpurni village, Una district, Himachal Pradesh.

Nestled in the lower Shivalik foothills at an elevation of approximately 978 m, it’s surrounded by forests and scenic vistas of the western Himalayas

Mythological Significance & History

According to mythology, when Goddess Sati self‑immolated, Lord Vishnu dismembered her body into 51 pieces to calm Shiva’s grief. It is believed her feet fell at Chintpurni, making it a sacred Shakti Peeth.

The goddess worshipped here is Chhinnamastika Devi, a form of Durga, symbolizing self-sacrifice and liberation of the soul .

The temple was founded by Pandit Mai Das, a Saraswat Brahmin, and his descendants still serve as priests after around 26 generations
