Community bhajan is noblest of all Your browser does not support the audio element. 1996-07-19 Document Download Audio Social Share Facebook Twitter Youtube Instagram Description The word and the mind are futile in their attempts to understand the Divine. By singing together there is every possibility for one’s devotion to blossom and to reach out to everyone. Collective singing is the noblest of all. It was Guru nanak who started ‘bhajans’, the collective and community singing. It is this collective singing, ‘bhajans’ that liberate man. Kabir das, Tulsidas, Ramdas- redeemed their lives by singing bhajans. There is such mighty strength latent in singing the glory of the Lord! One may say that God has no form but He has a name.

Divine Words of wisdom by Sathya Sai Baba – On Philosophical concepts 1. Get good name to all; Convocation message Your browser does not support the audio element. 1996-11-22 Document Download Audio Social Share Facebook Twitter Youtube Instagram Description So students, it’s a great opportunity. You should consider this as a scared day. Good teachings should enter your heart. You should tread along the right path in life. You should earn a good name. That’s the only thing I want from you. Get a good name, Get a good name for your parents, Get a good name for the institute where you studied. Then you will naturally get a good name and reputation. Greatness does not lie in doing bad actions. Even an insect harms, but causing harm is not humanness. You dont need to be afraid of anything. Fear the truth. You are not an animal to have this trait of fear, you are not a wild animal to cause fear . You are a human, therefore I should not be afraid of anything nor should I cause fear in others. When once you recognize this truth and lead your life, you can reform the society. Students, not only you being good, you should encourage your friends to tread along this sacred path and redeem their lives. I fondly hope and bless that you do this and doing so I bring my discourse to a close. 2. Convocation message to Students Your browser does not support the audio element. 1996-07-31 Document Download Audio Social Share Facebook Twitter Youtube Instagram Description “At least you act on the good thought the moment it rises and do good actions without wasting time. Never give chance or scope to bad thoughts and deeds.” That is the greatest task of today’s youth. The students are the future citizens of the country. Hence students must develop good thoughts, tread the right path and get a good name that they are the ideal citizens of the country.

The Essence of Patanjali Yoga is Unity in Thought, Word and Deed Your browser does not support the audio element. 1993-05-30 Document Download Audio Social Share Facebook Twitter Youtube Instagram Description To some, the worldly appears to be good. For how long? It is only temporary. This is called happiness (santhosham). What is the meaning? Some…thosham – it’s a fractional happiness or a gift. You feel hungry, you go to the canteen; you ate two chapatis; hunger is appeased but for how long? It is only for two hours. In the third hour, again you feel hungry. Therefore that which confers temporary happiness is called Sukham. But that which confers divine happiness (Daivanandam) is called Bliss (Anandam). Just enquire the difference between happiness and bliss. This bliss comes out of the heart; happiness comes out of the head. Head carries the responsibility; but heart has right. For every man, head and heart are important. Think good; you then reflect upon it. Then put it into action with hands what you thought. Therefore, the heart, head and hand together assume the ‘3H’ form. In Patanjali Yoga it is said that we should exercise control over the senses and also achieve unity of the senses. Unity…unity…unity… That’s why it is said – the proper study of mankind is man. What is this mankind? It’s the harmony of three – heart, word and action. Therefore, out of this unity we will develop purity; through purity we will step into Divinity. The moment we step into Divinity, the enmity will be set away. Therefore the Patanjali Yoga sutra confers the Divinity. So, to the extent possible, the young students – boys and girls, in times of anger or difficulties, they should be able to tolerate and forbear, face it boldly and earn the patience to move forward. In the beginning stage, you may find it a bit difficult. As you practice, gradually it becomes a habit. Walking, talking, reading, writing, eating… everything comes out of practice. Everything is accomplished only by practice which brought us to this level. Do just-born babies start run immediately? No. First the child gets up, crawls, stands up, falls, again gets up and eventually starts walking. Therefore, we have to develop such practices gradually. Therefore, this yoga is not meant only for rishis, yogis and renunciants but it is essential for every human being with the body. 2. There Cannot be a Healthy Body Without a Mind Filled With Sacred Thoughts Your browser does not support the audio element. 1993-05-30 Document Download Audio Social Share Facebook Twitter Youtube Instagram Description Patanjali dedicated his life for the sake of yoga. Not only this. He propagated that human life is based upon health and that without health it cannot exist; that for all activities body is most essential and for the body discipline is most essential. And that the most important role of yoga is to impart this discipline. Na Sreyo Niyamam Vina – There can be no welfare without discipline. There are some rules and disciplines for yoga too. Eating within limits and eating healthy is also essential. Food must also be tasty. But taste should not be all important either. We should also know the sacredness of the material. But man today is not taking into account these two factors. Eating whatever comes his way, man is completely ruining his health. Food is for the sustenance of the body and clothes are for protection from the cold. Food is for the maintenance of the body and not for your taste. Hunger is a disease, food is the medicine; thirst is a disease and water is the medicine. We want that this medicine should be very tasty. We should never give consideration to the taste when it comes to medicine. Relief from disease should alone be the goal. Similarly, today we give much importance to the taste of what we eat. We fail to recognise the true value of the food. Nowadays, foreigners following discipline in eating, have reduced eating spicy, salty and sour foods. The goal of Patanjali yoga is complete health and complete peace. As we are not able to practice such yoga these days, nerves become weak and the rate of blood circulation rises, causing more agitations in us. The reason for such agitations is essentially blood pressure. And this blood pressure is cause due to absence of rest. And this lack of rest is caused due to lack of sleep. Today, wherever you see in the world man is facing many agitations.

Religion

Divine Words of wisdom by Sathya Sai Baba – On Religion 1. Myths about christmas and christianity Your browser does not support the audio element. 1998-12-25 Document Download Audio Social Share Facebook Twitter Youtube Instagram Description Today is a Christmas holiday. How did you get this word Christmas? This is a Roman word. Christmas doesn’t actually fall in the month of December. Just because it is the cold season and as it is not possible to move around, people want to stay back at home and do household work; hence they have chosen December for celebrating Christmas. In fact, it is in March that Christ was born. The authors of books have changed the month altogether. Louis was an author from Germany and he has written just the opposite. As heads vary, so also thoughts vary. People went on writing as they liked. There are some who wrote that Jesus was never born! There are some who have written that it was the brother of Jesus who was crucified and not Jesus. Some have written that Jesus was in Japan when his brother was crucified. All this is imagination. Jesus is truth – he is one who experienced it all.

Guru

Divine Words of wisdom by Sathya Sai Baba – On Philosophical concepts 1.God is your true Guru Your browser does not support the audio element. 1996-07-30 Document Download Audio Social Share Facebook Twitter Youtube Instagram Description Embodiments of love!! How happy and peaceful the whole world would be if everyone fostered pure, benevolent, sacred and divine thoughts!! One should not hate anybody. “Sarvabhoota tiraskaaram kesavam pratigachchathe” denying or rejecting another is like denying or rejecting God. Therefore, God alone is one’s guru. “Gurur guruhu” He is teacher of teachers. When one has steadfastness one does not suffer. “Korinaphalamichchu kalpavrukshambunda, Peratipushpamunakai preetiyela? Adigina paalichchu kaamadhenuvve yunda Dhanamichchi aavunu konaganela? Why aspire for the flower in the backyard when one has the wish fulfilling tree by his side? Why buy a cow when one has the “Kamadhenu’ the divine cow that yields milk at one’s mere asking? When man has the ‘Kalpavruksha’ the wish fulfilling tree, ‘Kamadhenu’ the celestial cow, then why beg others? All are children of God, parts of the same divine, the manifestation of divinity. Hence it is said in Geetha, “mamaivamso jeevaloke jeevabhootahsanatanaha”- all are the sparks of the divine and the eternal.
