The Grace of God
You can notice Lord’s grace in every inch of His creation. In a hot summer you enjoy the delicious sweet juice of grapes, cucumber, oranges and pomegranates and cool Ganga water of Rishikesh and Haridwar. This is Lord’s grace. When you suffer from any serious ailment, you get immediate relief and cure from herbs. This is Lord’s grace. When you walk in a dark night, the stars twinkle and throw light on your path. This is Lord’s grace. When you are unable to bear extreme pain you become unconscious. This is Lord’s grace. When the weather is sultry, a gentle breeze blows and refreshes you. This is Lord’s grace.
Lord’s grace will descend in proportion to the degree of surrender. The more the surrender, the more the grace.
Kathopanishad says in a thundering voice: Not by study or discourses, not by argument, not by intelligence is the Self attained. He whom the Lord chooses attains Self-realisation. He reveals Himself to such a chosen person.
The subtle forms of lust, anger, egoism, pride, etc., can only be totally destroyed through the grace of the Lord. However hard you may strive and do Sadhana, these subtle forms cannot be eradicated through your Sadhana alone. The Lord’s grace completely purifies your heart.
It is the Lord only who stirs the aspirants to do Purushartha or right exertion.
You should not sit idle and say Lord’s grace will do everything for me. Why should I do any Sadhana? This is wrong philosophy. God helps those who help themselves. God’s grace will descend on those persons only who exert. You cannot expect the Lord to do self-surrender for you. Be up and doing. Strive. Plod. Persevere. The Lord will shower His grace upon you.
Mira abandoned everything. She renounced kingdom, husband, relatives, friends and property. She remembered her Lord Krishna, whole day and night. She shed tears of Prem. She sang His praise with single-minded devotion. She gave up food. Her body got emaciated. Her mind was ever absorbed in Lord Krishna. Only then, did Lord Krishna shower His grace upon her.
The Lord has five duties. He is Karta (actor), Akarta (non-actor), Anyatha Karta. He veils the Jiva (Tirodhana, Tirobhava). He removes the veil through His grace (Anugraha).
People will become idle and say The Lord will do everything for me. Why should I do any Sadhana? I depend upon His grace alone. In order to remove the inertia, Sri Vasishtha and others have preached the Purushartha Vada. In reality it is all Lord’s grace only. Even a leaf or an atom will not move without the sanction of the Lord.
May you all obtain Lord’s grace through faith and devotion! May Lord shower His grace upon you all.
Glory to the Lord and His grace (Kripa, Anugraha, Prasad).
The Grace of God – A Spiritual Source of Strength, Peace, and Protection
The Grace of God is one of the most beautiful truths in spiritual life. It is the unseen support that guides, protects, corrects, and uplifts a person even when life feels difficult. Human beings often believe that everything depends only on personal effort, intelligence, planning, or strength. Effort is important, but there are many moments when something greater than human ability works silently behind the scenes. That divine support is called grace.
Grace is not always dramatic or visible. Sometimes it appears as protection from danger. Sometimes it comes as guidance during confusion. Sometimes it arrives as strength during pain. Sometimes it works through a person, a prayer, a book, a teacher, or a sudden inner feeling that shows the right direction. The heart may not always recognize grace immediately, but later it understands that it was never alone.
The Grace of God does not mean that life will always be free from problems. Spiritual grace does not remove every challenge, but it gives the strength to face challenges with faith and patience. A person may still experience loss, illness, delay, rejection, or failure, but grace helps the soul remain steady. It gives courage when the mind feels weak and hope when situations look dark.
Many people understand grace only as receiving what they want. But divine grace is deeper than desire fulfillment. Sometimes not receiving something is also grace. A missed opportunity may protect us from future pain. A delay may prepare us for something better. A difficult lesson may remove ego and make the heart humbler. From a spiritual view, grace gives not only comfort, but also transformation.
The Grace of God also teaches humility. When a person succeeds, it is easy to think, “I did everything myself.” But if we look carefully, we see that life is supported by many visible and invisible blessings. Health, breath, intelligence, family, teachers, opportunities, food, nature, and inner strength are not fully in human control. Recognizing this truth removes arrogance and fills the heart with gratitude.
Gratitude is one of the best ways to receive grace more consciously. A complaining mind cannot easily feel divine support, even when it is present. But a grateful heart begins to notice small blessings: a peaceful morning, a kind word, a solved problem, a safe journey, a healing thought, or unexpected help. Gratitude opens the inner door through which divine peace enters.
The Grace of God is often felt most deeply during difficult times. When everything goes smoothly, people may forget prayer and rely only on themselves. But when life becomes uncertain, the heart naturally turns toward the Divine. In those moments, even a simple prayer can bring comfort. The situation may not change immediately, but the person changes from inside. Fear becomes softer, and faith becomes stronger.
Grace also works through guidance. Sometimes a person feels pulled away from a wrong decision without knowing why. Sometimes the right person appears at the right time. Sometimes a spiritual teaching answers a question that was troubling the heart. These moments may look ordinary from outside, but they carry deep meaning. Divine guidance often comes quietly, not loudly.
Another important part of grace is correction. People do not always like correction because it may come through discomfort, discipline, or the exposure of mistakes. But correction can also be a blessing. If a person is moving toward harm, grace may stop that person through a painful but necessary experience. A wise seeker learns to ask, “What is this teaching me?” instead of only asking, “Why is this happening to me?”
The Grace of God becomes more visible when a person lives with sincerity. Truthful speech, pure intention, selfless service, prayer, humility, and compassion make the heart more receptive. Grace is always present, but an ego-filled mind may not feel it. When the heart becomes simple and pure, divine help is recognized more easily.
This does not mean that grace can be forced or purchased. It cannot be demanded through rituals, pride, or bargaining. Grace is received through openness, faith, surrender, and love. A devotee does not pray only to get benefits. A true devotee prays to become closer to God, to become better, and to live according to divine values.
In daily life, a person can experience grace by remembering God before starting any work, offering actions with humility, accepting results with balance, and helping others without expectation. When life is lived as an offering, even ordinary duties become sacred. Work becomes worship, relationships become opportunities for love, and challenges become steps toward growth.
Ultimately, The Grace of God is a reminder that human life is never completely unsupported. Behind every breath, every lesson, every protection, and every moment of inner strength, there is a divine presence guiding the soul. Grace does not always give what the ego wants, but it gives what the soul needs. When a person lives with faith, gratitude, humility, and surrender, life becomes lighter, the heart becomes peaceful, and the path becomes filled with divine meaning.
