Sūrya Gītā is a spiritual text in which Lord Sūrya (the Sun God) gives important teachings about Dharma, Karma, knowledge, devotion, and spiritual freedom. It is presented as a dialogue in which Aruna, the charioteer of Lord Sūrya, asks questions and receives spiritual guidance from him. The text is associated with the Tattvasārāyaṇa of Vasiṣṭha and is available in traditional Sanskrit editions.
The teachings explain different levels of spiritual practice and the importance of performing actions with the right understanding. Sūrya Gītā discusses Karma, self-knowledge, meditation, devotion, detachment, and the nature of Brahman. It teaches that simply performing actions is not enough; a person should gradually develop wisdom and understand the true nature of the Self.
The main message of Sūrya Gītā is to perform one’s duties sincerely, gain spiritual knowledge, control attachment, and move toward liberation through Self-realization.
