Mantra Pushpam

bha̠dra-ṅkarṇē̍bhi-śśṛṇu̠yāma̍ dēvāḥ ।
bha̠dra-mpa̍śyēmā̠kṣabhi̠ryaja̍trāḥ ।
sthi̠rairaṅgai̎stuṣṭu̠vāgṃsa̍sta̠nūbhi̍ḥ ।
vyaśē̍ma dē̠vahi̍ta̠ṃ yadāyu̍ḥ ॥

May we hear what is auspicious with our ears, O divine beings. May we see what is auspicious with our eyes, O worthy ones. May we live our allotted span of life with strong and steady limbs, praising the Divine and following the path of divine goodness.

sva̠sti na̠ indrō̍ vṛ̠ddhaśra̍vāḥ ।
sva̍sti na̍ḥ pū̠ṣā vi̠śvavē̍dāḥ ।
sva̠̠stina̠stārkṣyō̠ ari̍ṣṭanēmiḥ ।
sva̠sti nō̠ bṛha̠spati̍rdadhātu ॥

May Indra, renowned for his strength and glory, grant us well-being. May Pūṣan, the all-knowing divine guide, bless us. May Tārkṣya, whose movement is unhindered, protect us from harm. May Bṛhaspati, the Lord of divine wisdom, bestow auspiciousness upon us.

ōṃ śānti̠-śśānti̠-śśānti̍ḥ ॥

Om. May there be peace, peace, peace — peace in the body, peace in the mind, and peace in the spiritual realm.

yō̍-‘pā-mpuṣpa̠ṃ vēda̍ ।
puṣpa̍vā-npra̠jāvā̎-npaśu̠mā-nbha̍vati ।
cha̠ndramā̠ vā a̠pā-mpuṣpam̎ ।
puṣpa̍vā-npra̠jāvā̎-npaśu̠mā-nbha̍vati ।
ya ē̠vaṃ vēda̍ ।
yō̍-‘pāmā̠yata̍na̠ṃ vēda̍ ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ॥

One who knows the cosmic flower of the waters becomes endowed with prosperity, offspring and cattle. The Moon is indeed the flower of the waters. One who knows this becomes prosperous, blessed with progeny and abundance. One who knows the abode and support of the waters becomes firmly established in that support.

a̠gnirvā a̠pāmā̠yata̍nam ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ।
yō̎-‘gnērā̠yata̍na̠ṃ vēda̍ ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ।
āpō̠vā a̠gnērā̠yata̍nam ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ।
ya ē̠vaṃ vēda̍ ।
yō̍-‘pāmā̠yata̍na̠ṃ vēda̍ ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ॥

Fire is the support and abode of the waters. One who knows the support of Fire becomes firmly established. The waters are also the support of Fire. One who knows this relationship and knows the abode of the waters becomes firmly established in that cosmic support.

vā̠yurvā a̠pāmā̠yata̍nam ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ।
yō vā̠yōrā̠yata̍na̠ṃ vēda̍ ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ।
āpō̠ vai vā̠yōrā̠yata̍nam ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ।
ya ē̠vaṃ vēda̍ ।
yō̍-‘pāmā̠yata̍na̠ṃ vēda̍ ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ॥

Vāyu, the cosmic wind, is the support and abode of the waters. One who knows the support of Vāyu becomes firmly established. The waters are also the support of Vāyu. One who understands this relationship becomes firmly established in the cosmic order.

a̠sau vai tapa̍nna̠pāmā̠yata̍nam ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ।
yō̍-‘muṣya̠tapa̍ta ā̠yata̍na̠ṃ vēda̍ ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ।
āpō̠ vā a̠muṣya̠tapa̍ta ā̠yata̍nam ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ।
ya ē̠vaṃ vēda̍ ।
yō̍-‘pāmā̠yata̍na̠ṃ vēda̍ ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ॥

The radiant Sun that shines and gives heat is connected with the support of the waters. One who knows the abode of that radiant principle becomes firmly established. The waters themselves are its support. One who understands this cosmic relationship becomes established in the universal order.

cha̠ndramā̠ vā a̠pāmā̠yata̍nam ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ।
yaścha̠ndrama̍sa ā̠yata̍na̠ṃ vēda̍ ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ।
āpō̠ vai cha̠ndrama̍sa ā̠yata̍nam ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ।
ya ē̠vaṃ vēda̍ ।
yō̍-‘pāmā̠yata̍na̠ṃ vēda̍ ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ॥

The Moon is the support and abode of the waters. One who knows the support of the Moon becomes firmly established. The waters are themselves the support of the Moon. One who understands this becomes firmly established in the cosmic order.

nakṣa̍trāṇi̠ vā a̠pāmā̠yata̍nam ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ।
yō nakṣa̍trāṇāmā̠yata̍na̠ṃ vēda̍ ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ।
āpō̠ vai nakṣa̍trāṇāmā̠yata̍nam ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ।
ya ē̠vaṃ vēda̍ ।
yō̍-‘pāmā̠yata̍na̠ṃ vēda̍ ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ॥

The stars are connected with the waters as their support and abode. One who knows the support of the stars becomes firmly established. The waters are their support. One who knows this and understands the abode of the waters becomes established in the cosmic order.

pa̠rjanyō̠ vā a̠pāmā̠yata̍nam ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ।
yaḥ pa̠rjanya̍syā̠yata̍na̠ṃ vēda̍ ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ।
āpō̠ vai pa̠rjanya̍syā̠yata̍nam ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ।
ya ē̠vaṃ vēda̍ ।
yō̍-‘pāmā̠yata̍na̠ṃ vēda̍ ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ॥

Parjanya, the rain-bearing divine principle, is the support and abode of the waters. One who knows the support of Parjanya becomes firmly established. The waters are also the support of Parjanya. One who understands this relationship becomes firmly established.

sa̠ṃva̠tsa̠rō vā a̠pāmā̠yata̍na̠m ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ।
ya-ssa̍ṃvatsa̠rasyā̠yata̍na̠ṃ vēda̍ ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ।
āpō̠ vai sa̍ṃvatsa̠rasyā̠yata̍nam ।
ā̠yata̍navā-nbhavati ।
ya ēvaṃ vēda̍ ।
yō̎-‘psu nāva̠-mprati̍ṣṭhitā̠ṃ vēda̍ ।
pratyē̠va ti̍ṣṭhati ॥

The year is the support and abode of the waters. One who knows the support of the year becomes firmly established. The waters are also the support of the year. One who knows this and knows the boat established in the waters becomes firmly established and secure.

ōṃ rā̠jā̠dhi̠rā̠jāya̍ prasahya sā̠hinē̎ ।
namō̍ va̠yaṃ vai̎śrava̠ṇāya̍ kurmahē ।
sa mē̠ kāmā̠n kāma̠ kāmā̍ya̠ mahyam̎ ।
kā̠mē̠śva̠rō vai̎śrava̠ṇō da̍dātu ।
ku̠bē̠rāya̍ vaiśrava̠ṇāya̍ ।
ma̠hā̠rājāya̠ nama̍ḥ ॥

Om. Salutations to the King of kings, the powerful and victorious Lord. We offer our reverence to Vaiśravaṇa, Lord Kubera. May the Lord of desires grant me my worthy aspirations. Salutations to Kubera, Vaiśravaṇa, the great king.

ō̎-ntadbra̠hma ।
ō̎-ntadvā̠yuḥ ।
ō̎-ntadā̠tmā ।
ō̎-ntathsa̠tyam ।
ō̎-ntatsarvam̎ ।
ō̎-ntatpurō̠rnamaḥ ॥

Om. That is Brahman. Om. That is Vāyu. Om. That is the Self. Om. That is Truth. Om. That is everything. Om. To That Supreme Reality, we offer our salutations.

antaścharati̍ bhūtē̠ṣu guhāyāṃ vi̍śvamū̠rtiṣu ।
tvaṃ yajñastvaṃ vaṣaṭkārastva-mindrastvagṃ
rudrastvaṃ viṣṇustva-mbrahmatva̍-mprajā̠patiḥ ।
tva-nta̍dāpa̠ āpō̠ jyōtī̠rasō̠-‘mṛta-mbrahma̠ bhūrbhuva̠ssuva̠rōm ।

The Supreme Reality moves within all beings, hidden in the innermost heart and manifest in countless forms. You are the sacrifice, the sacred Vaṣaṭ offering, Indra, Rudra, Viṣṇu, Brahmā and Prajāpati. You are the waters, light, essence and immortality. You are Brahman, present throughout Bhūḥ, Bhuvaḥ and Suvaḥ. Om.

īśānassarva̍ vidyā̠nāmīśvarassarva̍bhūtā̠nāṃ
brahmādhi̍pati̠-rbrahma̠ṇō-‘dhi̍pati̠-rbrahmā̍ śi̠vō mē̍ astu sadāśi̠vōm ।

He is the Lord of all knowledge and the ruler of all beings. He is the Lord of Brahman and the supreme master of sacred wisdom. May Brahmā and Śiva bless me. May Sadāśiva always be auspicious and gracious toward me. Om.

tadviṣṇō̎ḥ para̠ma-mpa̠dagṃ sadā̍ paśyanti sū̠raya̍ḥ ।
di̠vīva̠ chakṣu̠rāta̍tam ।
tadviprā̍sō vipa̠nyavō̍ jāgṛ̠vāgṃ sassami̍ndhatē ।
viṣṇō̠ryatpa̍ra̠ma-mpa̠dam ।

The wise and enlightened always behold the supreme abode of Viṣṇu, spread out like an all-seeing eye across the heavens. The spiritually awakened sages contemplate and kindle their inner awareness toward that supreme abode of Viṣṇu.

ṛtagṃ sa̠tya-mpa̍ra-mbra̠hma̠ pu̠ruṣa̍-ṅkṛṣṇa̠piṅga̍lam ।
ū̠rdhvarē̍taṃ vi̍rūpā̠kṣa̠ṃ vi̠śvarū̍pāya̠ vai namō̠ nama̍ḥ ॥

He is cosmic order and truth, the Supreme Brahman, the Cosmic Person, radiant in a dark and golden-brown form. He is the one whose divine energy rises upward and whose vision transcends ordinary perception. Salutations again and again to the One who assumes all forms.

ō-nnā̠rā̠ya̠ṇāya̍ vi̠dmahē̍ vāsudē̠vāya̍ dhīmahi ।
tannō̍ viṣṇuḥ prachō̠dayā̎t ॥

We seek to know Nārāyaṇa and meditate upon Vāsudeva. May Lord Viṣṇu inspire and guide our intellects toward divine knowledge, truth and spiritual realization.
