You’re Perfect
When God Supreme resolved to create man in His own image, He did it so, giving him His essence, that is His Oneness, and qualities, namely, love, compassion, gratitude, forgiveness, etc. Man being His prime creation should understand the need to coexist in this world, reaching out to another with sensitivity, awareness, understanding and a will that believes in, exuding kindred harmony, writes Sri Jullie Chaudhuri, Editor, SSS Youth Newsletter, Pune, narrating a small, yet significant story from Pune… Extracted from the Oct 2015 issue of the Newsletter.
A youngster decided to add some shine and sparkle in people’s lives. Every weekend, he would stand at Koregaon Park, Pune, with a placard saying ‘You’re Perfect’. This small act went a long way in touching a lot of strangers’ hearts.
Almost everyone around is riddled with insecurities, stress, work-related issues, domestic and relationship problems, financial difficulties, health worries, etc, that shatter their inner rhythm. Everyone is looking for a sign and reassurance to re-establish normalcy and balance. So, when a complete stranger silently lets you know that you are perfect just the way you are, it restores your peace of mind and self-confidence. If nothing else, it makes you smile.
Consequently, as this young person was standing with that elevating message, two heart-warming incidents (that we know of) occurred. One lady came up to him crying and gave him a big hug, saying that he made her day with his placard. Perhaps she was upset or depressed about something and this brightened her and brought cheer to her life.
Another joyful response was of a youth who came to him in a very upbeat mood to thank him for what he was doing. It unfolded thus that this youngster was going for an important job interview and was extremely nervous about the interview and the outcome. On his way, he happened to glance at this young man and his ‘You’re Perfect’ placard. That instantly calmed his nerves instilling the required confidence and…helped clinched the interview! So relieved was he that he came back to express his earnest gratitude and encourage him to continue with this novel initiative.
All that we need to reach out to another is sensitivity, awareness, understanding and a will that believes in and exudes kindred harmony.
You’re Perfect – A Sacred Reflection On Divine Acceptance And Inner Transformation
You’re Perfect is a beautiful spiritual reminder that the Divine sees us with a depth of love that ordinary human judgment cannot understand. People often look at outer appearance, success, mistakes, weakness, or social position, but God looks at the heart. The Lord knows our struggles, our sincerity, our hidden pain, and our true potential.
Human beings spend much of life feeling incomplete. They compare themselves with others, worry about their shortcomings, and feel unworthy because of past mistakes. But spirituality teaches that every soul is divine at its core. The body and mind may have limitations, but the Atma within is pure, eternal, and filled with light.
You’re Perfect teaches that perfection does not mean the absence of growth. A seed is perfect as a seed, yet it must grow into a tree. A child is precious as a child, yet learning is still needed. In the same way, the soul is divine, while the personality must be purified through love, discipline, service, and self-awareness.
Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba often reminded devotees that each person is not merely a body or mind, but an embodiment of the Divine. This truth gives courage and dignity. When we remember our divine nature, we stop living in self-hatred and begin walking the path of transformation with faith.
You’re Perfect becomes meaningful when we understand the difference between divine worth and human weakness. A person may have anger, fear, jealousy, pride, or confusion, but these are passing clouds. They do not define the eternal Self. Spiritual practice helps remove these clouds so that the inner light can shine clearly.
The world often teaches people to seek approval from others. Praise makes them happy, criticism makes them weak, and comparison steals their peace. But the devotee slowly learns to seek approval from conscience and God. If the heart is sincere and the intention is pure, inner peace becomes stronger than public opinion.
You’re Perfect also reminds us to look at others with compassion. Just as we want to be accepted despite our mistakes, others also need patience and kindness. Harsh judgment can break a heart, but loving guidance can heal and uplift. A spiritual person helps others grow without making them feel worthless.
True perfection is not pride. It is not saying, “I have nothing to change.” Rather, it is recognizing that God has placed divine potential within us. This recognition should make us humble, grateful, and responsible. Since the Divine lives within, our thoughts, words, and actions must become worthy of that sacred presence.
You’re Perfect finally teaches that self-acceptance must lead to self-improvement. Accepting ourselves does not mean accepting every bad habit. It means beginning the journey from a place of love instead of guilt. When the heart feels loved by God, it gains the strength to change gently and sincerely.
Prayer helps us see ourselves through divine eyes. Meditation quiets the restless mind. Namasmarana purifies thoughts. Bhajan fills the heart with devotion. Seva removes selfishness and expands love. Through these practices, the hidden beauty of the soul slowly becomes visible in daily conduct.
A person who feels accepted by God becomes less jealous and less fearful. Such a person does not need to compete constantly or prove superiority. They can appreciate others, forgive mistakes, and live with greater peace. Inner confidence grows when it is rooted in the Divine, not in ego.
This sacred message is also important for those who feel broken by life. Pain, failure, rejection, or guilt may make a person believe that they are beyond hope. But no one is beyond God’s love. The Lord can transform even a wounded heart into a source of compassion and strength.
In the end, You’re Perfect is a sacred reminder that the soul is already divine, while life is a journey of revealing that divinity. God accepts us with love, but also guides us toward purity, service, humility, and wisdom. When we live with faith in our inner divinity, life becomes peaceful, meaningful, and blessed with grace.
