Shanti Mantram (Dasha Shanti Mantram)

आपो हिष्ठा मयोभुवः । ता न ऊर्जे दधातन । महेरणाय चक्षसे । यो वः शिवतमो रसस्तस्य भाजयते ह नः । उशतीरिव मातरः । तस्मा अरङ्गमामवो यस्य क्षयाय जिन्वथ । आपो जनयथा च नः ॥

O Waters, you are the source of happiness and nourishment. Grant us strength and vitality, so that we may attain great spiritual vision. May we partake of your most auspicious essence. Like loving mothers, nourish and sustain us. May you lead us toward that which brings true well-being, and may the sacred waters renew and regenerate us.

पृथिवी शान्ता साग्निना शान्ता सामे शान्ता शुचं शमयतु ।
अन्तरिक्षं शान्तं तद्वायुना शान्तं तन्मे शान्तं शुचं शमयतु ।
द्यौश्शान्ता सादित्येन शान्ता सा मे शान्ता शुचं शमयतु ॥

May the Earth be peaceful and, together with Agni, bring peace. May the atmosphere be peaceful and, together with Vāyu, bring peace. May the heavens be peaceful and, together with the Sun, bring peace. May that peace remove all impurity and distress within me.

पृथिवी शान्तिरन्तरिक्षं शान्तिर्द्यौश्शान्तिर्दिशश्शान्तिरवान्तरदिशाश्शान्तिरग्निशान्तिर्वायुश्शान्तिरादित्यशान्तिश्चन्द्रमाश्शान्तिर्नक्षत्राणि शान्तिरापश्शान्तिरोषधयश्शान्तिर्वनस्पतयश्शान्तिर्गौशान्तिरजाशान्तिरश्वशान्तिः पुरुषशान्तिर्ब्रह्मशान्तिर्ब्राह्मणशान्तिः शान्तिरेव शान्तिर्मे अस्तु शान्तिः ।

May there be peace in the Earth, peace in the atmosphere, peace in the heavens, peace in all directions and intermediate directions. May there be peace in Agni, Vāyu, the Sun, the Moon and the stars. May there be peace in the waters, herbs and plants, in cattle, goats, horses and human beings. May there be peace in Brahman and in spiritual knowledge. May peace itself become the peace that abides in me.

तयाहं शान्त्या सर्वशान्त्या मह्यं द्विपदे चतुष्पदे च शान्तिं करोमि शान्तिर्मे अस्तु शान्तिः ॥

Through this peace and through universal peace, I establish peace for myself and for all two-footed and four-footed beings. May peace be established within me.

एह श्रीश्च ह्रीश्च धृतिश्च तपो मेधा प्रतिष्ठा श्रद्धा सत्यं धर्मश्चैतानि मोत्तिष्ठन्तमनूत्तिष्ठन्तु ।

May Śrī, modesty, steadfastness, austerity, wisdom, stability, faith, truth and righteousness arise and remain established within me.

मा मां श्रीश्च ह्रीश्च धृतिश्च तपो मेधा प्रतिष्ठा श्रद्धा सत्यं धर्मश्चैतानि मा मा हासिषुः ॥

May Śrī, modesty, steadfastness, austerity, wisdom, stability, faith, truth and righteousness never abandon me.

उदायु षा स्वायुषोदोषधीनां रसेनोत्पर्जन्यस्य शुष्मेणोदस्थाममृतां अनु ।
तच्चक्षुर्देवहितं पुरस्ताच्छुक्रमुच्चरत् ॥

May we rise with renewed life and vitality, strengthened by the essence of the herbs and the power of the rain-bearing clouds. May the divine and radiant eye of the Supreme rise before us.

पश्येम शरदश्शतं जीवेम शरदश्शतं नन्दाम शरदश्शतं मोदाम शरदश्शतं भवाम शरदश्शतं शृणवाम शरदश्शतं प्रब्रवाम शरदश्शतमजीतास्याम शरदश्शतं जोक्च सूर्यं दृशे ॥

May we see for a hundred autumns. May we live for a hundred autumns. May we rejoice and be happy for a hundred autumns. May we remain strong and prosperous for a hundred autumns. May we hear and speak for a hundred autumns. May we remain undefeated for a hundred autumns and continue to behold the radiant Sun.

य उदगान्महतोऽर्णवाद्विभ्राजमानस्सरिरस्य मध्याथ्समा वृषभो लोहिताक्षसूर्यो विपश्चिन्मनसा पुनातु ॥

May the wise and radiant Sun, rising from the vast cosmic ocean, shining in the midst of the universe, powerful like a mighty bull and red-eyed, purify us through His divine presence.

ब्रह्मणश्चोतन्यसि ब्रह्मण आणीस्थो ब्रह्मण आवपनमसि धारितेयम् पृथिवी ब्रह्मणा मही धारितमेनॆन महदन्तरिक्षं दिवं दाधार पृथिवीं सदेवाṃ यदहं वेद तदहं धारयाणि मामद्वेदोऽथ विस्रसत् ॥

You are the inspiration of Brahman; you are established in Brahman; you are the support and foundation of Brahman. Through Brahman, the vast Earth is sustained, and through it the great atmosphere and heavens are supported. Whatever I know through this sacred knowledge, may I uphold and preserve it. May ignorance depart from me.

मेधामनीषे माविशतां समीची भूतस्य भव्यस्यावरुध्यै सर्वमायुरयाणि सर्वमायुरयाणि ॥

May intelligence and wisdom enter me together. May they help me understand the past and future and preserve all that is beneficial. May I attain complete and full life.

आभिर्गीर्भिर्यदतो न ऊनमाप्यायय हरिवो वर्धमानः ।
यदा स्तोतृभ्यो महि गोत्रा रुजासि भूयिष्ठभाजो अध ते स्याम ।
ब्रह्म प्रावादिष्म तन्नो मा हासीत् ॥

O Lord, who grows in glory, nourish and strengthen whatever is lacking in us through these sacred prayers. When You reveal great treasures and blessings to those who praise You, may we become worthy recipients of Your abundance. We have spoken the sacred Brahman; may that divine wisdom never leave us.

ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः ॥

Om. May there be peace, peace, peace.

ॐ सन्त्वा सिञ्चामि यजुषा प्रजामायूर्धनं च ॥

With the sacred Yajus mantra, I bless and consecrate you with the wish for progeny, long life and wealth.

ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः ॥

Om. May there be peace, peace, peace.

ॐ शं नो मित्रः शं वरुणः ।
शं नो भवत्वर्यमा ।
शं न इन्द्रो बृहस्पतिः ।
शं नो विष्णुरुरुक्रमः ।
नमो ब्रह्मणे । नमस्ते वायो ।
त्वमेव प्रत्यक्षं ब्रह्मासि ।
त्वामेव प्रत्यक्षं ब्रह्म वदिष्यामि ।
ऋतं वदिष्यामि । सत्यं वदिष्यामि ।
तन्मामवतु । तद्वक्तारमवतु ।
अवतु माम् । अवतु वक्तारम् ॥

May Mitra be auspicious to us; may Varuṇa bless us with peace. May Aryaman bring us well-being. May Indra and Bṛhaspati bless us. May Viṣṇu, the One who strides widely, protect us. Salutations to Brahman. Salutations to Vāyu. You alone are the directly perceptible Brahman. I shall speak of You as the directly perceptible Brahman. I shall speak what is right and what is true. May that Divine Reality protect me and protect the teacher who speaks these sacred words. May I be protected, and may the teacher be protected.

ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः ॥

Om. May there be peace, peace, peace.

ॐ तच्छं योरावृणीमहे ।
गातुं यज्ञाय । गातुं यज्ञपतये ।
दैवी स्वस्तिरस्तु नः ।
स्वस्तिर्मानुषेभ्यः ।
ऊर्ध्वं जिगातु भेषजम् ।
शं नो अस्तु द्विपदे ।
शं चतुष्पदे ॥

We invoke and seek that which brings peace and welfare. May we proceed toward the sacrifice and toward the Lord of the sacrifice. May divine well-being be with us and may there be welfare for all human beings. May healing and medicine rise upward and flourish. May there be peace and well-being for all two-footed and four-footed beings.

ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः ॥

Om. May there be peace, peace, peace.

ॐ सह नाववतु । सह नौ भुनक्तु ।
सह वीर्यं करवावहै ।
तेजस्विनावधीतमस्तु मा विद्विषावहै ॥
ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः ॥

Om. May the Divine protect both of us. May the Divine nourish both of us. May we work together with strength and dedication. May our study be radiant and fruitful. May we never hate or oppose one another.
