Sathya Sai Centre – Tartu is part of the spiritual and service-oriented Sathya Sai movement in Estonia, bringing together devotees and spiritual aspirants who follow the universal teachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Tartu, known as Estonia’s university city, has an important place in the history of the Sathya Sai movement in the country. According to an account published by the Sri Sathya Sai International Organization, a person from Tartu was among the earliest Estonians connected with Sathya Sai Baba and his ashram at Prasanthi Nilayam. By 1995, Tartu was one of four locations in Estonia where Sathya Sai Centres or groups had been established.
The Sathya Sai movement has been active in the country for several decades and is part of the Sri Sathya Sai International Organization (SSSIO). The organization encourages devotees to practice universal human values through devotion, spiritual study, education, and service.
Historically, Sathya Sai activities in Estonia developed in several cities. By 1995, Sathya Sai Centers were reported in Kuressaare, Tartu, and Tallinn , along with a Sai Group in Paide . Today, devotees and groups continue to gather in places including Tallinn, Tartu, and Pärnu , participating in spiritual meetings, bhajans, discussions, and service activities. The 2025 SSSIO annual report specifically mentions devotees from Tallinn, Tartu, and Pärnu coming together in Pärnu for the centenary celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
Sathya Sai activities in Estonia reflect the wider mission of the organization: to encourage individuals to discover their inherent divinity and express it through love, compassion, harmony, and selfless service.
