For Bhagawan And The Brahmand…
Shri Sathya Sai Baba inspiring spiritual awakening photo
What better offering can a devotee make than to pray for His entire creation, by chanting most selflessly His Cosmic Chant, Samastha Lokah Sukhino Bhavantu…How humans should understand that they are channels of abundance, channels of peace and channels of light, to light up the whole of His creation…working most selflessly with a expansive heart.. On this epochal year of 90th Year Of His Advent, let’s continue with His mission, chanting Samastha Lokah Sukhino Bhavantu…an inspiring writing from Sri Jullie Chaudhuri.
God illumines the entire universe as the Atma Tatwa immanent in all the living beings and objects. Even though God may appear to be involved in so many activities in the world, it is only for the pleasure of His devotees. He has no desire of His own. He has only one desire – Samastha Lokah Sukhino Bhavantu! – Baba (Dussehra Discourse -2009)
On 20th July 2009, Bhagawan, conferring harmony to every atom in the Cosmos as a whole, made us chant Samastha Jeeva Sukhino Bhavantu (may all the beings in all the worlds be at peace) for a few days, consequently reverting the intonation back to Samastha Lokaah Sukhino Bhavantu. Earlier on 31st August 2008, with absorbing intent Bhagawan had rephrased ‘Lokaah Samastha…’ thereby establishing Samastha Lokaah Sukhino Bhavantu…a chant most selfless and true, for Cosmic benefit. On this day Bhagawan, while bequeathing this chant upon humanity, mentioned that Lokaah Samastha refers to only one world…whereas Samastha Lokaah refers to all the worlds…‘ It is a great, wonderful feeling’ – is how Bhagawan expressed the sentiments of joyous expansion and vastness brought about by this sacrosanct phrase.
Students who were fortunate to witness this awe inspiring moment have since often recalled how Swami had enchantingly gestured with His arms, indicating an action of expansion…thus embracing all the ‘lokaas’! Through many an encore of this particular chant signifying peace for ‘Anni Lokaalu’, since all the lokaas are His very own, Bhagawan revealed His great concern and feeling for Universal Welfare.
Many are the ways to adore our sweet Lord and the fragrance of each minuscule element of devotion is sure to make Him smile. Along with the devotional hymns, the vedic chants, the verses and dramas, the garlands and flowers…the fasts and pledges…mustn’t we spare some time for that ‘one desire’ of God – Samastha Lokaah Sukhino Bhavantu…?
What can please our Beloved Creator more than incantations for the well being of His dear creation…? Perhaps the intent to unite and form a global link…that intensely and selflessly resounds ‘Samastha Lokah…’ through the ether with magnified intent…effecting individual, global as well as universal harmony. It could be an Akhanda Samastha Lokah…for 24 hours on a rotation basis…or a specifically held group chanting for a specified amount of time or it could be 9/21/108 chants…micro or macro efforts…individual or collective…it is the intent that enhances the purpose and establishes a link, a bond, lending and blending a harmony.
Samastha Lokah Sukhino Bhavantu, like all of Beloved Bhagawan’s messages has a universal objective and does not belong to any caste, creed, religion or sect…it can be chanted by anyone…anywhere…at any time sans any man-made restrictions. And it certainly is the need of the hour.
The sheer noble intent of this gloriously powerful chant would have a tremendous impact upon the environment and usher in peace, contentment as well as a brotherhood in a world torn apart by selfishness, strife, chaos and terrorism .
We all are sparks of That Divine Flame…Waves dancing upon the bosom of That Supreme Ocean…Together we form the fragrant petals of That celestial Lotus…Radiant rays of That Effulgent Light…Finite expressions of the One Who is Infinite…Significant segments of the One Who is Invincible…Each a unique star upon the vast expanse of the Celestial Firmament…Buds yet to bloom in the Eternal Garden…Limitless indeed like the sky…for we…are the children of Beloved Mother Sai…
Come, Brothers and Sisters, together let us spread the message of Sai…the choice is ours…to remain a mere statistic or to touch upon the music of the mystic…a life sublime…going on to leave our footprints upon the sands of time…
We are channels of abundance, We are channels of peace, We are channels of light, This is what we must realize, Love, Radiance and Harmony, Henceforth we must channelize… With the Universe our vows we must posthaste renew, Let the Cosmos ring out with Samastha Lokah Sukhino Bhavantu…
Bhagawan is the heart of the Cosmos…the Brahmand…and we live in His heart…together we form His heartbeats…it is only natural for the beats to be in sync with each other…Let us do it this for Bhagawan…for the Brahmand…for our Bhagawan and our Bhagawan’s Brahmand…for we are forever an intrinsic part of the Brahmand…and the Brahmand from Bhagawan is never apart. Let us spread the message of our Lord, Let us live the message of our Lord, Let us live only to please our Lord… Every moment let us surrender selflessly at the Lotus Feet of our Beloved God…Let us glow and gush forth as instruments of compassion of the Creator for His creation…Most certainly this is what Bhagawan intended for me and you – II Samastha Lokaah Sukhino Bhavantu II
Let us embrace life, the elements five, every atom of creation the Cosmos through…may God bless every being…sentient or insentient…embodied or disembodied… with all that is magnificent, wonderful and true…oh! what bliss…for this harmoniously includes me and you…

For Bhagawan And The Brahmand – A Life Offered to the Divine and the Cosmos
For Bhagawan And The Brahmand is a deeply spiritual thought that expands devotion from personal worship to universal responsibility. Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba always taught that God is not limited to one place, one form, or one community. The Divine is present in every heart, every element, every creature, and every corner of creation. To love Bhagawan truly is to respect the entire universe as His expression.
Many people begin devotion with personal feelings. They pray for protection, peace, health, success, or guidance. Such prayers are natural because human life is filled with needs and struggles. But as devotion matures, the heart grows wider. It no longer asks only for personal comfort. It begins to ask how it can serve, how it can love more, and how it can become useful to the world.
For Bhagawan And The Brahmand reminds us that the devotee’s life should not remain narrow. If we worship the Lord but ignore the suffering of others, our devotion is incomplete. If we decorate an altar but neglect the world around us, we have missed the deeper message. The same God we adore in prayer is present in the hungry, the lonely, the sick, the poor, and the forgotten.
The cosmos is not separate from spiritual life. The earth, sky, rivers, trees, animals, air, and sunlight all carry divine intelligence. They support human existence silently and generously. When we misuse nature through greed, waste, pollution, and carelessness, we are not merely harming the environment; we are disrespecting a sacred gift. Reverence for creation is also a form of worship.
For Bhagawan And The Brahmand teaches that love must become universal. Bhagawan’s message of “Love all, serve all” does not stop at the boundary of family, religion, nation, or personal preference. It includes all beings. A true devotee cannot choose kindness only for those who are close or agreeable. Divine love asks us to expand beyond ego and recognize oneness in diversity.
This expanded vision begins in daily conduct. We can serve the universe by living responsibly. We can save water, avoid waste, speak gently, help those in need, respect all faiths, protect animals, and perform our duties honestly. These actions may look small, but they carry spiritual value when done with love and awareness. Every pure action becomes an offering.
Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba often emphasized the unity between thought, word, and deed. If our thoughts are selfish, our words sweet, and our actions careless, there is no harmony. Spiritual life requires inner and outer alignment. What we feel for God in the heart must be expressed through truth in speech and goodness in action.
For Bhagawan And The Brahmand also calls us to understand service as cosmic worship. When a person feeds the hungry, he is serving the Divine in that form. When he plants a tree, he is serving future generations. When he comforts a sad heart, he is reducing pain in the larger human family. Service done without ego becomes a bridge between devotion and universal welfare.
Human beings often feel small before the vastness of creation. The stars, oceans, mountains, and endless sky remind us that life is far greater than personal concerns. Yet spirituality teaches that even a small human life can carry great meaning. One kind person can reduce suffering. One truthful person can inspire trust. One prayerful heart can radiate peace.
The thought of offering oneself to both God and creation brings humility. We are not owners of the world; we are caretakers. We are not separate from nature; we are part of it. We are not superior to others because of wealth, knowledge, or position; we are responsible for using our gifts wisely. Humility helps devotion remain pure.
For Bhagawan And The Brahmand encourages the devotee to see every duty as sacred. Family care, honest work, social responsibility, environmental awareness, and spiritual practice are not separate paths. They can all become worship when performed with sincerity. A clean heart can turn ordinary actions into divine offerings.
This vision also protects us from selfish spirituality. Sometimes people want personal blessings but do not want personal transformation. They want miracles but not discipline. They want peace but continue to create conflict. True devotion asks for change. It asks us to reduce anger, pride, greed, jealousy, and indifference. The universe becomes more peaceful when individuals purify themselves.
Prayer has a special role in this journey. When we pray for all beings, the heart expands. A prayer for universal welfare removes narrowness and awakens compassion. But prayer should also guide action. If we pray for peace, we must stop harsh speech. If we pray for nature, we must stop waste. If we pray for humanity, we must serve where we can.
In the end, For Bhagawan And The Brahmand is a call to live with devotion that is wide, practical, and compassionate. To love Bhagawan is to love His creation. To worship the Divine is to serve life. When our thoughts become pure, our words become kind, our hands become helpful, and our hearts embrace all beings, our life becomes a sacred offering to God and the cosmos.
