॥ श्री भवान्यष्टकम् ॥
न तातो न माता न बन्धुर्न दातान पुत्रो न पुत्री न भृत्यो न भर्ता।
न जाया न विद्या न वृत्तिर्ममैवगतिस्त्वं गतिस्त्वं त्वमेका भवानि॥1॥
भवाब्धावपारे महादुःखभीरुःपपात प्रकामी प्रलोभी प्रमत्तः।
कुसंसारपाशप्रबद्धः सदाहंगतिस्त्वं गतिस्त्वं त्वमेका भवानि॥2॥
न जानामि दानं न च ध्यानयोगंन जानामि तन्त्रं न च स्तोत्रमन्त्रम्।
न जानामि पूजां न च न्यासयोगम्गतिस्त्वं गतिस्त्वं त्वमेका भवानि॥3॥
न जानामि पुण्यं न जानामि तीर्थंन जानामि मुक्ति लयं वा कदाचित्।
न जानामि भक्ति व्रतं वापिमातर्गतिस्त्वं गतिस्त्वं त्वमेका भवानि॥4॥
कुकर्मी कुसङ्गी कुबुद्धिः कुदासःकुलाचारहीनः कदाचारलीनः।
कुदृष्टिः कुवाक्यप्रबन्धः सदाहम्गतिस्त्वं गतिस्त्वं त्वमेका भवानि॥5॥
प्रजेशं रमेशं महेशं सुरेशंदिनेशं निशीथेश्वरं वा कदाचित्।
न जानामि चान्यत् सदाहं शरण्येगतिस्त्वं गतिस्त्वं त्वमेका भवानि॥6॥
विवादे विषादे प्रमादे प्रवासेजले चानले पर्वते शत्रुमध्ये।
अरण्ये शरण्ये सदा मां प्रपाहिगतिस्त्वं गतिस्त्वं त्वमेका भवानि॥7॥
अनाथो दरिद्रो जरारोगयुक्तोमहाक्षीणदीनः सदा जाड्यवक्त्रः।
विपत्तौ प्रविष्टः प्रणष्टः सदाहंगतिस्त्वं गतिस्त्वं त्वमेका भवानि॥8॥
॥ इति श्रीमच्छङ्कराचार्यकृतं भवान्यष्टकं सम्पूर्णम् ॥

Na Tāto Na Mātā Na Bandhur Na Dātā Na Putro Na Putrī Na Bhṛtyo Na Bhartā Na Jāyā Na Vidyā Na Vṛttir Mamaiva Gatis Tvaṁ Gatis Tvaṁ Tvam Ekā Bhavāni
Meaning: O Goddess Bhavani, neither father, nor mother, nor relatives, nor benefactors, neither son, nor daughter, nor servant, nor husband, neither wife, nor knowledge, nor livelihood can truly protect me. You alone are my refuge, You alone are my ultimate shelter.
Verse 2
Bhavābdhāv Apāre Mahāduḥkha Bhīruḥ Papāta Prakāmī Pralobhī Pramattaḥ Kusaṁsāra Pāśa Prabaddhaḥ Sadāhaṁ Gatis Tvaṁ Gatis Tvaṁ Tvam Ekā Bhavāni
Meaning: I have fallen into the endless ocean of worldly existence, filled with fear and suffering. Overcome by desires, greed, and ignorance, bound by the chains of worldly illusion, I have no one else. O Bhavani, You alone are my refuge.
Verse 3
Na Jānāmi Dānaṁ Na Ca Dhyāna Yogaṁ Na Jānāmi Tantraṁ Na Ca Stotra Mantram Na Jānāmi Pūjāṁ Na Ca Nyāsa Yogaṁ Gatis Tvaṁ Gatis Tvaṁ Tvam Ekā Bhavāni
Meaning: I do not know the proper way of charity, meditation, tantra, sacred hymns, or mantras. I do not know the correct methods of worship or spiritual practices. O Mother Bhavani, You alone are my refuge.
Verse 4
Na Jānāmi Puṇyaṁ Na Jānāmi Tīrthaṁ Na Jānāmi Mukti Layaṁ Vā Kadācit Na Jānāmi Bhakti Vrataṁ Vāpi Mātar Gatis Tvaṁ Gatis Tvaṁ Tvam Ekā Bhavāni
Meaning: I do not know the path of virtue, the significance of holy pilgrimages, liberation, or spiritual absorption. I do not even know true devotion or sacred vows. O Divine Mother, You alone are my refuge.
Verse 5
Kukarmī Kusaṅgī Kubuddhiḥ Kudāsaḥ Kulācāra Hīnaḥ Kadācāra Līnaḥ Kudṛṣṭiḥ Kuvākya Prabandhaḥ Sadāhaṁ Gatis Tvaṁ Gatis Tvaṁ Tvam Ekā Bhavāni
Meaning: I have committed wrong actions, kept bad company, possessed impure thoughts, neglected righteous conduct, spoken harsh words, and followed improper ways. Even then, O Bhavani, You alone are my refuge.

Prajeśaṁ Rameśaṁ Maheśaṁ Sureśaṁ Dineśaṁ Niśītheśvaraṁ Vā Kadācit Na Jānāmi Cānyat Sadāhaṁ Śaraṇye Gatis Tvaṁ Gatis Tvaṁ Tvam Ekā Bhavāni
Meaning: I do not seek refuge in Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, Indra, the Sun, the Moon, or any other deity. O Compassionate Mother and Protector, I surrender only to You. You alone are my refuge.
Verse 7
Vivāde Viṣāde Pramāde Pravāse Jale Cānale Parvate Śatru Madhye Araṇye Śaraṇye Sadā Māṁ Prapāhi Gatis Tvaṁ Gatis Tvaṁ Tvam Ekā Bhavāni
Meaning: Protect me during conflicts, sorrow, mistakes, journeys, in water, in fire, on mountains, among enemies, and in lonely forests. O Divine Mother, always protect me, for You alone are my refuge.
Verse 8
Anātho Daridro Jarāroga Yukto Mahākṣīṇa Dīnaḥ Sadā Jāḍya Vaktraḥ Vipattau Praviṣṭaḥ Praṇaṣṭaḥ Sadāhaṁ Gatis Tvaṁ Gatis Tvaṁ Tvam Ekā Bhavāni
Meaning: Helpless, poor, afflicted by old age and disease, weak, miserable, speechless, and trapped in endless difficulties, I have no one else to turn to. O Mother Bhavani, You alone are my refuge, now and forever.
