Never Forget…

In July 1977 Bhagawan was in Brindavan and when the festival of Guru Poornima was just a few days away, He wrote a letter to Sri YV Kutumba Rao, the then Secretary of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, Prasanthi Nilayam. The letter serves as a ‘Sailent’ reminder to all the ashramites at Prasanthi Nilayam… and direct directive from the Supreme One.

Kutumba Rao, accept My blessings.

Gurupoornima festival will be celebrated here at Brindavan. My Presence is required here for the college. You may celebrate the festival there too. Convey My blessings to everyone there. Tell the residents of the Ashram that they should never forget the objectives for which they have come here, and that they should strive to achieve their goal. They should sincerely follow all the disciplines of the Ashram and should not involve themselves needlessly in the affairs of others.

Stress the point that having come to the Ashram after giving up all relatives and friends for the sake of God, if they now give up God and develop new relationships and friendships, it contradicts the basic principles of an Ashramic life. The important principle of living in an ashram is that one has taken shelter at the Feet Of God forsaking the anxieties and worries of a worldly life. One has to develop virtues like peace, patience, humility and obedience, and eschew anger, jealousy and ego.

One should behave in the same way in the physical absence of Swami as one would do in His Presence; otherwise it is self-betrayal and self-deceit. Tell everyone that they should practise these principles always and derive bliss, and also set ideals for others. Only when there is such model behaviour and transformation, can they deserve the grace of Sai. Convey to them  that indulging in unnecessary talk or involving in others’ affairs is not good, and that slandering others out of jealousy is a heinous sin.

My blessings to one and all there – Baba”

Never Forget – A Sacred Reminder Of Gratitude, Faith, And Divine Love

Never Forget is a simple but powerful spiritual message for every devotee. Life moves quickly, situations change, people come and go, and the mind becomes busy with countless duties. Yet, in the middle of all this movement, there are sacred truths that must remain alive in the heart: God’s love, the value of gratitude, the power of faith, and the duty to live with goodness.

Human beings often remember God during difficulty but become careless when comfort returns. When pain comes, prayer becomes strong. When danger passes, remembrance becomes weak. This is the nature of an untrained mind. Spiritual life teaches us to keep God close not only in times of need, but also in times of joy, success, health, and peace.

Never Forget teaches that every breath is a gift. We did not create our own life, heartbeat, intelligence, body, or opportunities. Many visible and invisible blessings support us every day. The food we eat, the air we breathe, the people who help us, and the grace that protects us are all reminders that life is not sustained by ego alone.

Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba often emphasized gratitude as an essential quality of a noble heart. A grateful person becomes humble, loving, and peaceful. An ungrateful person may receive many blessings but still feel empty. Gratitude changes the way we see life. It helps us notice what God has given instead of only complaining about what is missing.

Never Forget becomes meaningful when we remember the lessons learned through both happiness and hardship. Joy teaches us to be thankful, while sorrow teaches us patience and surrender. Success teaches responsibility, while failure teaches humility. Every experience can become a teacher when we look at it with spiritual awareness.

A devotee should remember that God’s grace is often silent. Many times, we know the difficulties from which we were saved, but many times we do not know the dangers that were removed before they reached us. The unseen protection of the Divine is beyond human understanding. This thought should make the heart soft and full of reverence.

We should also remember the love and sacrifice of those who supported us. Parents, teachers, elders, friends, guides, and well-wishers may have helped us in different ways. Their kindness should not be taken lightly. A spiritual person does not forget kindness received. Instead, he or she tries to pass that kindness forward through service.

Never Forget also reminds us to hold firmly to values. Truth should not be abandoned for convenience. Compassion should not be forgotten in anger. Humility should not disappear after success. Devotion should not weaken because of worldly distractions. Values are the inner wealth that protects the soul.

The world can easily make people restless. There is comparison, competition, pride, jealousy, and constant desire. In such an atmosphere, one must remember the real purpose of life. We are not born merely to collect possessions, receive praise, or satisfy endless wants. We are born to realize the Divine within and express love through thought, word, and deed.

Never Forget finally teaches that remembrance must become practice. It is not enough to remember God only in words. We must remember Him by speaking gently, serving selflessly, forgiving sincerely, and living honestly. When conduct becomes pure, remembrance becomes real.

Prayer, namasmarana, bhajan, meditation, and seva help keep the heart connected with God. Prayer gives strength, the divine name purifies the mind, bhajan fills life with devotion, meditation brings inner silence, and service removes selfishness. These practices protect the mind from forgetfulness and bring it back to the Divine again and again.

A person who remembers God becomes less fearful. Such a person knows that life may change, but divine love remains. Problems may come, but guidance will also come. People may misunderstand, but God knows the truth of the heart. This faith gives courage to continue the journey with patience and dignity.

In the end, Never Forget is a sacred call to remember God’s grace, life’s lessons, noble values, and the kindness received from others. It asks us to live with gratitude, humility, faith, and service. When the heart remembers the Divine in every situation, life becomes peaceful, meaningful, and blessed with eternal love.
