Two devotees of different caste
Here is a miracle which Swami performed when He was 28 years old. This incident happened in Warangal in 1954. There were two devotees different casts who want to get married against the wishes of the elders in the family. The parents of the bride and groom were so furious that they want to lose their children but not prepared to get the marriage. The two devotees sent a telegram to Baba asking Him for the help.
They have decided to get married and sent the date to Bhagawan asking Him to come and get their marriage performed smoothly.
After receiving the telegram Baba went to bangalore from there He flew to Hyderabad and from there He went to Warangal by car. Swami stayed in minster Ramachandra Reddy’s house and asked him to send some police protection for the marriage.
R. Harinarayana came with 30 strong police force and waited for Swami’s order. Swami told all the policemen to take positions in the marriage hall and said they do not have to do anything, their physical presence would do all the good.
One hour before the marriage 100 men from bride’s party came with sticks to disrupt the marriage, seeing this the groom’s party also brought some 100 people to protect the marrige. This was the scene when Baba entered the marriage hall. Swami straight went to the pendal and stood right in front of the groom. He called Mr.
Haranarayana and asked him to stand behind the bride. He waived His hand in thin air to produce the ‘Mangalasuthra’. Swami gave this to the groom and asked him to tie it around the bride’s neck.
He also asked the CI to supervise the knots. The seen was something like that of Kurukshetra where Lord Krishna stands in between the two warring factions. All the gangsters were spell bound and were lokking at Bhagawan without a single word. The police were tensed and wondering what would happen.
After that Swami reached out to one of the gangsters, who was holding the stick, waived His hand in the air to create a sweet. Seein this the ganster dropped his stick and streached his hand for receiving the sweet. Then Swami moved to the next person, same thing repeated.
Within minutes all the gangsters surrounded Swami, and started asking for sweets. Then Swami was like Mohini amidst the Dhanavas. Swami said all of you come and have food, I will serve you there.
Thus the marriage went on smoothly with the blessings of Bhagawan to the utter amazement of the police. Then Swami announced to all the people who gathered around that ” All the human beings are one. They are created at the will of God. There is no cast, creed or religion which seperates the humanity. We should love each other and thus devolpe hormony among ourselves”.
Mr. Haranarayana was really impressed with this and became a devotee of Baba. I will narrate his experience in the next episode.
Two Devotees of Different Caste – A Divine Lesson of Equality and Love
Two devotees of different caste is a meaningful devotional theme that reminds us that true spirituality rises above all social divisions. Human beings may create differences based on caste, wealth, language, education, or status, but the Divine looks only at the heart. Before God, no one is high or low. A pure prayer, a loving heart, and sincere devotion are far greater than any outer identity.
In society, caste has often created distance between people. Some have been treated with respect, while others have been made to feel small or unwanted. Such thinking is against the spirit of true religion. God does not measure a person by birth. God measures love, humility, truthfulness, and service. Two devotees of different caste teaches that devotion becomes pure only when the heart is free from pride and discrimination.
Both devotees may have come from different backgrounds, but their love for Baba brought them to the same sacred path. One may have belonged to a respected caste, while the other may have been looked down upon by society. But in Baba’s presence, these labels had no meaning. Baba saw both as His children. His love did not change according to social position. His grace flowed equally toward all sincere hearts.
Two devotees of different caste also shows how spiritual life corrects human ignorance. A person may feel proud of caste, family, learning, or wealth, but such pride blocks devotion. When someone thinks, “I am superior,” the heart becomes narrow. Baba’s teachings always pointed toward unity. He wanted people to understand that the same Divine lives in everyone. Hurting another person is therefore hurting God’s own presence.
The beauty of devotion is that it brings people together. When devotees sit in prayer, sing bhajans, serve food, or remember Baba, outer differences begin to fade. The name of God becomes a bridge between hearts. In that sacred feeling, no one asks who is high or low. Everyone becomes a seeker, and every seeker becomes worthy of love.
Two devotees of different caste reminds us that Baba often used simple incidents to teach deep truths. He did not always give long lectures. Sometimes He corrected people through a small action, a loving word, or a situation that exposed their hidden pride. If one devotee refused to accept another due to caste, Baba would show that such thinking had no place in real spirituality. His lesson was clear: love all and serve all.
True devotion cannot live together with hatred. A person may perform rituals, visit temples, read scriptures, and speak about God, but if the same person looks down on others, devotion remains incomplete. The first temple is the human heart. If that temple is filled with ego and prejudice, outer worship loses its purity. Baba wanted devotees to clean the heart first.
Two devotees of different caste also teaches the value of humility. The devotee who is socially respected must learn that status does not make one spiritually greater. The devotee who is socially ignored must understand that Baba’s love is never less for them. Both need transformation. One must drop pride, and the other must drop pain and fear. In divine love, both find dignity and peace.
Baba’s message was always practical. Equality should not remain only as a beautiful idea. It should be practiced in daily life. We must speak respectfully to all, eat with gratitude, serve without discrimination, and help people without asking about caste or status. A hungry person needs food, not judgment. A suffering person needs comfort, not rejection. A devotee sees Baba in every being.
Two devotees of different caste is especially important for modern society. Even today, many people carry old habits of division in their minds. They may not speak openly, but their behavior shows distance. Baba’s teaching asks us to remove such hidden barriers. Real progress is not only in education, buildings, technology, or wealth. Real progress is when human beings treat one another with dignity and compassion.
The story also reminds us that spiritual brotherhood is stronger than social identity. Two people may be born in different homes, but if they share love for God, they are united at a deeper level. Devotion makes them members of one divine family. In that family, God is the Father, love is the language, and service is the duty.
Two devotees of different caste finally points toward the highest truth: the same soul shines in all. Bodies are different, names are different, customs are different, but the inner divine spark is one. When a devotee understands this, pride disappears and love expands. The world becomes less divided, and life becomes more sacred.
In the end, Two devotees of different caste is not only a story about two people. It is a lesson for every heart. Baba teaches us to rise above narrow thinking and see all as children of God. True devotion means loving without discrimination, serving without ego, and respecting the divine presence in everyone. When caste pride ends and universal love begins, the heart becomes truly ready for God.
