Bauddha Darshan , or Buddhist Philosophy , is an important ancient Indian philosophical tradition founded on the teachings of Gautama Buddha . It focuses on understanding human suffering, its causes, and the path toward freedom from suffering. Buddha encouraged people to develop wisdom through personal understanding, ethical conduct, meditation, and careful observation of life.
The central teachings of Bauddha Darshan are expressed through the Four Noble Truths . They explain the nature of suffering, its cause, the possibility of ending suffering, and the path that leads to its end. This path is known as the Noble Eightfold Path , which includes right understanding, intention, speech, action, livelihood, effort, mindfulness, and concentration.
Buddhist philosophy also teaches impermanence (Anitya) , the absence of a permanent individual self (Anatman ), and the principle of dependent origination. It emphasizes compassion, non-violence, mindfulness, self-discipline, and freedom from excessive attachment and desire.
The ultimate goal of Buddhist philosophy is Nirvana , a state of liberation from suffering and the cycle of conditioned existence. Bauddha Darshan has had a major influence on Indian philosophy, meditation, ethics, literature, art, and spiritual traditions across Asia.
