Where is God?
As in the sesame seed oil exists, As in milk ghee is present, As fragrance resides in a flower, As the juice exists in a fruit, As fire is latent in a faggot So Is the Divine immanent in subtle form
Oil is present throughout the sesame seed. Ghee is present in every drop of milk. Fragrance is present in an invisible form in a flower. A fruit is filled with sweet juice. In every piece of wood fire is latent. In the same manner the Divine is immanent in the entire cosmos in a subtle form.
God is present not in some country or some body. Like vision in the eye and hearing in the ear, God is present in the mind as Consciousness (Chaitanya). The cosmos is the visible manifestation of the invisible Supreme Self.
While the Divine is in such close proximity to him, man in his ignorance goes seeking God everywhere. The Divine is effulgent in every man as Sath-Chith-Ananda (Being-Awareness-Bliss), the Cosmic Consciousness.
Reflections of the sun shining in the sky can be seen in the oceans, rivers, the lakes and in wells. Though the reflections are varied, the sun is one alone. The Divine is present in man like the unseen thread which holds a garland of gems together. The entire cosmos is permeated by the Divine and is the visible manifestation of the Divine.
Nothing in the world, no object, no human being, no creature can be found wherein God is not present. Though man appears in the world in different forms, speaking different languages, his essential humanness is common to one and all. There is only one race, that is the human race. God is only one. He is Sath-Chith-Ananda.
Just as a seed sprouts and grows into a plant wherein a flower blossoms, so does the Divine seed grow in the heart of man and blossoms as a flower, Sath-Chith-Ananda. Just as it is natural for a seed to become a fragrant flower, so is it natural for man to experience the bliss of the Divine (Sath-Chith-Ananda).
There are many evidences to demonstrate the Divinity that is inherent in man. But few men are ready to make the sacrifice that is required to experience this Divinity.
The ancient sages regarded human life as full of fragrance to be enjoyed. They considered life as full of nectarine sweetness. When man is oblivious of this sweetness, he ceases to be human. Sacrifice (Thyaga) is the sweetness in humanness (Manavathva). The scriptures declare: Only through sacrifice can man realise the eternal Divine. But, immersed in selfishness, man fails to recognise this truth.
Where is God – A Sacred Search Within the Heart
Where is God is one of the deepest questions a human being can ask. Some people search for God in temples, churches, mosques, scriptures, mountains, rivers, and holy places. These sacred spaces can awaken devotion and peace, but the true answer is even deeper. God is not limited to one place, one form, or one direction. The Divine is present everywhere, and most beautifully, He is present within the pure heart.
Many people ask Where is God during difficult times. When pain comes, when prayers seem delayed, or when life feels unfair, the heart begins to search. It wonders whether God is listening. But spiritual wisdom teaches that God is not absent during sorrow. Sometimes He is present as courage, sometimes as patience, sometimes as a helpful person, and sometimes as silent strength within us.
God can be felt in love. When a mother cares for her child, when a stranger helps someone without reward, when a friend stands beside us during pain, and when forgiveness heals a broken relationship, divine presence is there. Where is God reminds us that God is not only found in rituals, but also in compassion, kindness, and selfless service.
The Divine is also present in nature. The rising sun, flowing rivers, silent mountains, blooming flowers, and the rhythm of seasons all reflect a higher intelligence. Every breath we take is a blessing. Every heartbeat is a reminder that life is supported by a power greater than our control. When the heart becomes sensitive, the whole world begins to feel like a temple.
Where is God also teaches that the Divine is present in conscience. When something inside stops us from doing wrong, that is divine guidance. When the heart feels moved to help someone, that is divine love. When we feel sorry after hurting someone and wish to correct ourselves, that is also God working within us. The voice of goodness inside the heart is one of the clearest signs of divine presence.
Many people believe God is far away because their minds are filled with noise. Desire , anger, jealousy, ego, fear, and restlessness cover the inner vision. Just as clouds hide the sun without destroying it, impurities of the mind hide the feeling of God without removing His presence. Where is God guides the seeker to purify the heart through prayer, truth, love, humility, and service.
God is not found by pride. He is found by sincerity. A person may know many scriptures and still remain far from God if the heart is harsh. Another person may know very little, but if the heart is filled with love and humility, God feels near. The Divine does not measure devotion by outer display. He sees the truth of the heart.
Where is God is also answered through service. If we want to find God, we should look into the eyes of the hungry, the poor, the sick, the lonely, and the suffering. Helping them is not separate from worship. Feeding someone, speaking kindly, comforting a sad heart, and serving without pride are powerful ways to experience divine nearness.
A temple can help us remember God, but life itself must become worship. Work done honestly, words spoken gently, food eaten with gratitude, and duties performed with love can all become spiritual practice. God is present in every moment when the mind is pure and the heart is aware.
In the end, Where is God is not only a question of location. It is a question of vision. God is everywhere, but we feel Him only when the heart becomes clean, humble, and loving. He is in silence, prayer, nature, service, truth, compassion, and the hidden strength that carries us through life.
A sincere seeker who reflects on Where is God slowly understands that the Divine was never far away. The search outside becomes complete when the heart discovers God within. This is the blessing of spiritual awakening – the eyes begin to see grace everywhere, and ordinary life becomes filled with divine presencec
