Shiva Ashtakam
॥ अथ श्री शिवाष्टकम् ॥
प्रभुं प्राणनाथं विभुं विश्वनाथंजगन्नाथ नाथं सदानन्द भाजाम्।
भवद्भव्य भूतेश्वरं भूतनाथं,शिवं शङ्करं शम्भु मीशानमीडे॥1॥
गले रुण्डमालं तनौ सर्पजालंमहाकाल कालं गणेशादि पालम्।
Prabhum Prāṇanāthaṁ Vibhuṁ Viśvanāthaṁ Jagannātha Nāthaṁ Sadānanda Bhājām। Bhavadbhavya Bhūteśvaraṁ Bhūtanāthaṁ, Śivaṁ Śaṅkaraṁ Śambhu Mīśānam Īḍe॥1॥
Meaning
I bow to Lord Shiva, the Supreme Lord, the protector of all life, the all-pervading One, and the Lord of the universe. He is the Master of all beings, the source of eternal bliss, and the ruler of everything that exists, existed, and will exist. I worship Shiva, Shankara, Shambhu, and Ishana, the compassionate Lord.
जटाजूट गङ्गोत्तरङ्गै र्विशालं,शिवं शङ्करं शम्भु मीशानमीडे॥2॥
मुदामाकरं मण्डनं मण्डयन्तंमहा मण्डलं भस्म भूषाधरं तम्।

Meaning
I adore Lord Shiva, the source of all happiness and beauty. He decorates the universe and adorns Himself with sacred ash. He is beginningless, infinite, and destroys ignorance and worldly illusion, guiding devotees toward spiritual wisdom.
गिरीशं गणेशं सुरेशं महेशं,शिवं शङ्करं शम्भु मीशानमीडे॥4॥
गिरीन्द्रात्मजा सङ्गृहीतार्धदेहंगिरौ संस्थितं सर्वदापन्न गेहम्।
Vaṭādho Nivāsaṁ Mahāṭṭāṭṭahāsaṁ Mahāpāpa Nāśaṁ Sadā Suprakāśam। Girīśaṁ Gaṇeśaṁ Sureśaṁ Maheśaṁ, Śivaṁ Śaṅkaraṁ Śambhu Mīśānam Īḍe॥4॥
Meaning
I worship Lord Shiva, who resides beneath the sacred banyan tree, whose divine laughter fills the universe, and who destroys the greatest sins. He is ever-radiant, the Lord of mountains, the Lord of the celestial beings, and the Supreme God.
परब्रह्म ब्रह्मादिभिर्-वन्द्यमानं,शिवं शङ्करं शम्भु मीशानमीडे॥5॥
कपालं त्रिशूलं कराभ्यां दधानंपदाम्भोज नम्राय कामं ददानम्।
Girīndrātmajā Saṅgṛhītārdhadehaṁ Girau Saṁsthitaṁ Sarvadāpanna Geham। Parabrahma Brahmādibhir Vandyamānaṁ, Śivaṁ Śaṅkaraṁ Śambhu Mīśānam Īḍe॥5॥
Meaning
I bow to Lord Shiva, who shares half of His body with Goddess Parvati (Ardhanarishvara), resides upon Mount Kailash, and offers refuge to all who seek His protection. He is the Supreme Absolute Reality, worshipped by Lord Brahma and all the gods.
बलीवर्धमानं सुराणां प्रधानं,शिवं शङ्करं शम्भु मीशानमीडे॥6॥
शरच्चन्द्र गात्रं गणानन्दपात्रंत्रिनेत्रं पवित्रं धनेशस्य मित्रम्।
Kapālaṁ Triśūlaṁ Karābhyāṁ Dadhānaṁ Padāmbhoja Namrāya Kāmaṁ Dadānam। Balīvardhamānaṁ Surāṇāṁ Pradhānaṁ, Śivaṁ Śaṅkaraṁ Śambhu Mīśānam Īḍe॥6॥
Meaning
I worship Lord Shiva, who holds a skull and a trident in His hands. He grants the righteous wishes of those who humbly bow at His lotus feet. Riding His sacred bull Nandi, He is the foremost Lord worshipped by all the gods.

Śaraccandra Gātraṁ Gaṇānanda Pātraṁ Trinetraṁ Pavitraṁ Dhaneśasya Mitram। Aparṇā Kalatraṁ Sadā Saccharitraṁ, Śivaṁ Śaṅkaraṁ Śambhu Mīśānam Īḍe॥7॥
Meaning
I bow to Lord Shiva, whose body shines like the autumn moon. He is the delight of His divine attendants, possesses three sacred eyes, and is the close friend of Kubera, the god of wealth. His consort is Goddess Aparna (Parvati), and His character is eternally pure and righteous.
श्मशाने वसन्तं मनोजं दहन्तं,शिवं शङ्करं शम्भु मीशानमीडे॥8॥
स्वयं यः प्रभाते नरश्शूल पाणेपठेत् स्तोत्ररत्नं त्विहप्राप्यरत्नम्।
Haraṁ Sarpahāraṁ Citā Bhūvihāraṁ Bhavaṁ Vedasāraṁ Sadā Nirvikāraṁ। Śmaśāne Vasantaṁ Manojaṁ Dahantaṁ, Śivaṁ Śaṅkaraṁ Śambhu Mīśānam Īḍe॥8॥
Meaning
I worship Lord Shiva, the remover of suffering, who wears serpents as ornaments and dwells in cremation grounds, symbolizing detachment from worldly attachments. He is the essence of the Vedas, eternally changeless, and the one who reduced Kamadeva (the god of desire) to ashes with His divine third eye.
सुपुत्रं सुधान्यं सुमित्रं कलत्रंविचित्रैस्समाराध्य मोक्षं प्रयाति॥
॥ इति श्रीशिवाष्टकं सम्पूर्णम् ॥
Svayaṁ Yaḥ Prabhāte Naraḥ Śūlapāṇe Paṭhet Stotraratnaṁ Tvihaprāpya Ratnam। Suputraṁ Sudhānyaṁ Sumitraṁ Kalatraṁ Vicitraissamārādhya Mokṣaṁ Prayāti॥
Meaning:
Whoever recites this precious hymn to Lord Shiva every morning with devotion receives priceless blessings. Such a devotee is blessed with virtuous children, prosperity, abundant food, loyal friends, a noble spouse, and happiness in life. By worshipping Lord Shiva with sincere devotion, the devotee ultimately attains Moksha (liberation from the cycle of birth and death).
