Shrinathji Haveli, is located in the town of Nathdwara, about 48 km north of Udaipur, Rajasthan.

It houses the Swayambhu (self-manifested) idol of Lord Krishna in his childhood form, Shrinathji, making it a major pilgrimage site in the Vaishnav tradition.

Mythological Significance & History

In the late 17th century, to protect the idol of child Krishna from Mughal ruler Aurangzeb, Vallabhacharya’s followers moved it from Mathura. When the cart reached the present location at Nathdwara, its wheels sank into mud—believed to be Lord’s will. The temple was built there and the deity has remained ever since.

The temple’s construction was led by Goswami Damodar Das Bairagi, with royal patronage from the Maharana of Mewar around 1672.

Nathdwara is on NH‑48, well connected from Udaipur (48 km), Ajmer, and Jaipur. Temple is near the bus stand in Nathdwara town.

By Rail

Nearest railhead is Mavli Junction (~28–30 km). Udaipur Railway Station (~45 km) is also used by travelers.

By Air

The nearest airport is Udaipur (Dabok Airport) about 40–57 km away. Taxis/buses connect to Nathdwara.
