Mother’s Love
Divine teachings
Mother’s love is an indescribable feeling. It is unconditional. No matter what you do your mother will always love you. It is difficult to put this in words, as a mother’s love is incommunicable. The mother is prepared to go to any length and sacrifice for the sake of the children. She will sacrifice even her life to protect her children. Mother is the very foundation of everything.
When I was little, one of my favorite books used to be Mama do you love me. In this story a little girl would propose many situations where the child does bad things and asks her mother if she still loved her. Her mother would repeatedly answer, I will love you till the stars turn into fish in the sky, and the puffin, a small arctic bird, howls at the moon. Telling the little girl that no matter what she did, even if, her mother would be upset with her she would never stop loving her.
At this point I would like to quote Shri Shankaracharya: Mother, you are our Atman. You are our paramatattva. There is nothing more dear and desirable than you.

Mother’s Love – A Sacred Bond of Care and Sacrifice
Mother’s Love is one of the purest feelings a human being can experience. It begins before a child can speak, understand, or respond. A mother gives without measuring, protects without expecting praise, and worries silently even when everyone else believes everything is fine. Her affection is not just an emotion; it is a lifelong commitment shaped by patience, sacrifice, and deep concern.
A mother is often the first shelter a child knows. Her lap becomes the first place of comfort, her voice becomes the first music, and her touch becomes the first language of safety. Before the world teaches rules, competition, and fear, a mother teaches trust. Through her care, the child learns that love is not only spoken; it is shown through actions repeated every day.
Mother’s Love is seen in ordinary moments that many people overlook. It is in the meal kept warm, the late-night waiting, the gentle reminder, the prayer whispered in silence, and the tired smile offered after a long day. These acts may not appear grand, yet they form the foundation of a person’s emotional strength. Many children realize their value only after they grow older and understand the weight of responsibility.
A mother may not always express herself perfectly. She may become worried, strict, emotional, or overprotective. But behind her concern usually stands a heart that wants the child to remain safe and good. Her correction is not always pleasant, yet it often carries wisdom born from experience. She sees dangers that the child may ignore and tries to guide before life teaches through pain.
Mother’s Love also shapes character. A child observes how she speaks, forgives, works, prays, and handles difficulty. If she lives with kindness, the child learns kindness. If she respects elders, the child learns respect. If she serves without pride, the child learns humility. In this way, a mother becomes the first teacher, not only through advice, but through her daily example.
There is a spiritual beauty in the way a mother gives. She may hide her own needs so that her family can feel complete. She may eat later, sleep less, and worry more, yet she continues because affection gives her strength. This quiet sacrifice reflects the divine quality of compassion. It reminds us that true love is not selfish possession, but selfless giving.
Mother’s Love remains steady even when the child grows older. The form of care may change, but the feeling does not disappear. A mother may no longer hold the child’s hand while crossing the road, yet her prayers still follow every journey. Distance may separate bodies, but concern travels silently. A simple phone call, a blessing, or a question about food and health carries more tenderness than it first appears.
Children should never take this bond for granted. A mother’s sacrifices are easy to miss because they become part of daily life. The clean clothes, packed meals, careful advice, emotional support, and constant prayers may feel normal until they are absent. Gratitude should not wait for special days. It should be shown through respectful speech, patience, help, and time.
Mother’s Love can also be seen in people who nurture with a motherly heart. A grandmother, teacher, elder sister, caregiver, nurse, or spiritual guide may offer protection and guidance with the same warmth. Motherhood is not only a biological role; it is also a quality of the heart. Wherever someone cares selflessly, comforts sincerely, and protects another life, the spirit of motherhood is present.
This love teaches society an important lesson. The world becomes harsh when people think only of themselves. A mother’s heart teaches the opposite. It asks us to notice another person’s hunger, pain, fear, and need for encouragement. If families, schools, workplaces, and communities practiced even a little of this tenderness, human life would become more peaceful and compassionate.
This motherly care is not weakness. It is one of the strongest forces in life. A mother can endure pain, face hardship, and stand firm when her child is in danger. Her strength may not always be loud, but it is powerful. It comes from a place deeper than pride or ambition. It comes from pure responsibility and unconditional care, which gives courage to the entire family.
In the end, Mother’s Love is a sacred gift that deserves gratitude, respect, and understanding. It serves without noise, forgives without counting, and blesses without condition. A person who recognizes this love becomes humbler and kinder. To honor a mother is not only to praise her, but to live with the values she tried to plant in the heart: compassion, patience, truth, and selfless care.
