O Rudra, may that auspicious and gracious form of Yours, which is free from all fear and dispels sin, shine upon us. O Lord who dwells upon the mountains, reveal Yourself to us through that most peaceful and benevolent form. Salutations to the crown of the head. 1

He is the One who moves in the purity of the sun, who dwells in the atmosphere, who is the sacred fire offering, who sits upon the altar, who comes as a revered guest into the home, and who dwells among human beings. He is present in the gods, in truth, and in the vast expanse of heaven. He is born from the waters, from the earth, from the cosmic order, and from the mountains. He is the great and eternal Truth. O Rudra, do not harm our children or descendants, nor shorten our lives. Do not harm our cattle or horses. O radiant and powerful Rudra, do not destroy our brave and valiant people. With offerings and deep reverence, we worship and honor You. Salutations to the nostrils. 7

The blue-necked and fair-throated Rudras who abide in the heavens are also present there. For all those Rudra forms, we place their bows and weapons at a distance of a thousand yojanas, praying that their power may not cause us harm. Salutations to the region around the throat. 9.2
