Sarpa Suktam
namō̍ astu sa̠rpēbhyō̠ yē kē cha̍ pṛthi̠vī manu̍ ।
yē a̠ntari̍kṣē̠ yē di̠vi tēbhya̍-ssa̠rpēbhyō̠ nama̍ḥ ॥
Salutations to all the serpents (Nāgas) who dwell upon the Earth, those who exist in the atmosphere, and those who reside in the heavenly realms. I offer my reverence to all these divine serpent beings.
yē̍-‘dō rō̍cha̠nē di̠vō yē vā̠ sūrya̍sya ra̠śmiṣu̍ ।
yēṣā̍ma̠psu sada̍ḥ kṛ̠ta-ntēbhya̍-ssa̠rpēbhyō̠ nama̍ḥ ॥
Salutations to those serpents who exist in the shining regions of heaven and those who dwell within the rays of the Sun. Reverence to those serpent beings whose abodes are established in the waters.
yā iṣa̍vō yātu̠dhānā̍nā̠ṃ yē vā̠ vana̠spatī̠n anu̍ ।
yē vā̍-‘va̠ṭēṣu̠ śēra̍tē̠ tēbhya̍-ssa̠rpēbhyō̠ nama̍ḥ ॥
Salutations to those serpents who are associated with the powers of harmful beings, those who move among trees and forests, and those who reside in underground places and hidden dwellings.
i̠dagṃ sa̠rpēbhyō̍ ha̠vir̍astu̠ juṣṭam̎ ।
ā̠śrē̠ṣā yēṣā̍manu̠yanti̠ chēta̍ḥ ।
yē a̠ntari̍kṣa-mpṛthi̠vī-ṅkṣi̠yanti̍ ।
tē na̍ssa̠rpāsō̠ hava̠māga̍miṣṭhāḥ ॥
May this sacred offering be pleasing to the serpents. May those Nāgas connected with the constellation Āśleṣā, whose presence influences the minds of beings, accept this offering. May the serpents who inhabit the atmosphere and the Earth come near and receive our invocation.
yē rō̍cha̠nē sūrya̠syāpi̍ sa̠rpāḥ ।
yē diva̍-ndē̠vīmanu̍sa̠ncharanti̍ ।
yēṣā̍māśrē̠ṣā a̍nu̠yanti̠ kāmam̎ ।
tēbhya̍ssa̠rpēbhyō̠ madhu̍majjuhōmi ॥
To those serpents who dwell in the brilliance of the Sun, and those who move through the divine realms of heaven; to those whose connection is with Āśleṣā and whose desires are fulfilled through divine power, I offer this sweet and sacred oblation.
ni̠ghṛṣvai̍rasa̠māyu̍taiḥ ।
kālairharitva̍māpa̠nnaiḥ ।
indrāyā̍hi sa̠hasra̍yuk ॥
Come, O Indra, accompanied by thousands of divine forces, with powers that overcome obstacles and with the strength that manifests through the changing times.
a̠gnirvi̠bhrāṣṭi̍vasanaḥ ।
vā̠yuśvēta̍sikadru̠kaḥ ।
sa̠ṃva̠thsa̠rō vi̍ṣū̠varṇai̎ḥ ।
nityā̠stē-‘nucha̍rāsta̠va ॥
Agni shines with radiant garments of flame; Vāyu moves with pure and powerful energy; Time (Saṃvatsara) appears in many forms and colors. These eternal forces always accompany and serve the divine order.
subrahmaṇyōgṃ subrahmaṇyōgṃ su̍brahmaṇyōm ॥
May the divine Subrahmaṇya (Lord Kārttikeya), the embodiment of wisdom, protection, and spiritual power, be invoked and worshipped. May His divine presence bless and protect all beings.
ōṃ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ ॥
Om. May there be peace, peace, and perfect peace in the physical world, the mental realm, and the spiritual realm.
