Easy Comfortable Pranayama
(Sukha Purvaka)
Sit on Padmasana or Siddhasana in your meditation room, before the picture of your Ishta Devata (guiding deity). Close the right nostril with the right thumb. Draw in the air very, very slowly through the left nostril. Then close the left nostril also with little and ring fingers of the right hand. Retain the air as long as you can comfortably do. Then exhale very, very slowly through the right nostril after removing the thumb. Now half the process is over. Then draw air through the right nostril. Retain the air as before and exhale it very, very slowly through the left nostril. All these six processes constitute one Pranayama. Do 20 in the morning and 20 in the evening. Gradually increase the number. Have a Bhava (mental attitude) that all the Daivi Sampat (divine qualities), e.g., mercy, love, forgiveness, Santi, joy, etc., are entering into your system along with the inspired air and all Asuri Sampat (devilish qualities) such as lust, anger, greed, etc., are being thrown out along with the expired air. Repeat Om or Gayatri mentally during Puraka, Kumbhaka and Rechaka. Hard-working Sadhakas can do 320 Kumbhakas daily in four sittings at the rate of 80 in each sitting. This Pranayama removes all diseases, purifies the Nadis, steadies the mind in concentration, improves digestion, increases the digestive fire and appetite, helps to maintain Brahmacharya and awakens the Kundalini that is sleeping at the Muladhara Chakra. Purification of Nadis will set in rapidly. You will have levitation (rising above the ground) also.
Easy Comfortable Pranayama: A Gentle Path to Better Breathing and Inner Peace
Easy Comfortable Pranayama is a simple and natural approach to conscious breathing that helps improve physical health, mental clarity, and emotional balance without creating strain. Pranayama is the yogic science of regulating the breath, and beginners are encouraged to start with gentle techniques that feel comfortable and relaxing. Instead of forcing the breath, this practice emphasizes slow, smooth, and mindful breathing that supports the body’s natural rhythm. Regular practice helps calm the mind, strengthen the respiratory system, and prepare the practitioner for meditation. Devotional India encourages readers to include this easy breathing practice in their daily routine to experience greater peace and overall well-being.
Understanding Easy Comfortable Pranayama begins with recognizing the importance of natural breathing. Many people breathe quickly and shallowly because of stress, poor posture, or busy lifestyles. Conscious breathing helps restore a steady rhythm, allowing the lungs to expand more efficiently and the body to receive adequate oxygen. As the breath becomes slower and deeper, the nervous system relaxes, creating a feeling of calmness and mental clarity. This simple practice is suitable for people of all ages and can easily become a part of everyday life.
One of the greatest benefits of Easy Comfortable Pranayama is its positive effect on mental health. Slow and mindful breathing helps reduce stress, anxiety, and emotional tension by calming the mind. As unnecessary thoughts begin to settle, concentration naturally improves, making it easier to remain focused on daily tasks and meditation. Regular breathing practice also supports emotional resilience, helping individuals respond to challenges with patience instead of impulsive reactions. Devotional India reminds readers that a peaceful breath creates the foundation for a peaceful mind.
The practice of Easy Comfortable Pranayama also contributes to better physical well-being. Gentle breathing exercises improve lung capacity, support healthy oxygen circulation, and strengthen the respiratory system. They also help relax tight muscles, improve posture, and promote overall vitality. When combined with regular yoga practice, balanced nutrition, and sufficient rest, conscious breathing becomes a valuable part of a healthy lifestyle. Because the practice is gentle, it can be performed comfortably without unnecessary physical effort.
Another important aspect of Easy Comfortable Pranayama is its role in meditation and spiritual development. Yogic philosophy teaches that when the breath becomes calm and balanced, the mind naturally follows the same rhythm. This peaceful state prepares practitioners for meditation by reducing distractions and improving inner awareness. Over time, regular breathing practice encourages qualities such as patience, gratitude, humility, and self-control. Devotional India highlights that steady progress in spiritual life begins with simple and sincere daily practices.
Developing Easy Comfortable Pranayama requires consistency rather than intensity. Beginners should choose a quiet place, sit comfortably with an upright spine, and allow the breath to remain smooth and natural. There is no need to force deep inhalations or hold the breath beyond one’s comfort. Practicing for ten to fifteen minutes each day is enough to experience gradual improvements in breathing, concentration, and emotional balance. Small daily efforts create lasting positive changes over time.
Ancient yogic traditions regard Easy Comfortable Pranayama as an ideal foundation for deeper breathing practices.
