Shri Sathya Sai Baba Bhajan Tutorial – Prathama Vandana Gowri Nandana

Prathama Vandana Gowri Nandana
1. Vidya Dayini Bhagavathi
O Divine Mother, You are the One who grants us True Knowledge and Wisdom.
2. Namo Namo Namo Sai Narayani
O Divine Mother, Omnipresent and Omniscient Energy Principle that is Sai; we repeatedly offer our humble salutations and obeisance unto Thee.
(Baba explains that the name Narayana can be split into Nara: a living entity and Aayana: to rest or reside. Hence the name Narayani means the Divine Mother who resides in all living forms.)
3. Vidya Dayini Bhagavathi
O Divine Mother, You are the One who bestows the knowledge that liberates.
(It is said ‘Sa Vidya ya vimukthaye’; true knowledge, vidya is that which liberates.)
4. Chinmaya Roopini Nada Swaroopini
O Divine Mother, You are the very personification of Consciousness and Sound that envelopes and is inherent in every speck of this universe.
5. Namo Namo Namo Sai Narayani
O Divine Mother Sai, the Omnipresent and Omniscient Energy Principle; we bow to Thee repeatedly.
Nandivahana Nataraja Hare
1. Nandivahana Nataraja Hare
We adore Thee O Lord who has the bull, Nandi as His vehicle and who is the Lord of the cosmic dance.
(Nandi has explained by Bhagawan is the symbol of a true devotee. In any temple of Lord Shiva, Nandi though placed outside the inner sanctum has its vision ever fixed on the Lord. So too a true devotee is one who has his focus always on God even as he lives in the material world. The cosmic dance of Shiva is a representation of the energy that is the source of creation, sustenance and dissolution of the Universe.)
2. Indusekhara Shivaraja Hare
We adore Thee O Lord, the all-powerful Cosmic Principle, the colossus of auspiciousness and goodness who bears the moon on His matted locks.
(The moon here symbolises coolness, light that dispels darkness, and the ever changing aspect of time. We thus worship Shiva as the Master of Time, the One who blesses all with peace and calm, and the One who enlightens the Intellect.)
3. Nandivahana Nataraja Hare
We adore Thee O Lord who has the bull, Nandi as His vehicle and who is the Lord of the cosmic dance.
4. Bandha Vimochana Jaya Baba Hare
O Lord Sai Baba! You are the One who liberates us from this eternal bondage of pain and pleasure, birth and death; Victory to Thee!
5. Parthi Purieshwara Shiva Sai Hare
We adore Thee O Sai, the Lord of the holy hamlet of Parthi (Puttaparthi). You are the abode of all auspiciousness.
