Tell Me! Do You Have Faith In Me?

He does the biggest miracle of transformation and this is the most miraculous ‘visiting card’ He ‘displays’ ever, for the attention of the world of devotees, for, each and every one stands with a chance with Him around, as The Supreme Master, OmniPresence as The Ultimate Presence. A beautiful incident from the life of Sri Bharat Dutt, a former student at Bhagawan’s Institute, extracted from Sanathana Sarathi, January 1987.

It was a bright sunny morning. We had all just settled on the portico for Swami’s Darshan. The rustle of His robe and the sweet fragrance announced His Divine Presence. To my delight I was called for an interview with my parents.

I was a most badly behaved boy indulging in ‘modern’ behavioural attitudes. I would like to admit that the entire family believed in Swami, except me. When we came to Prasanthi Nilayam in 1980, my brother got admission in the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning and we got Swami’s grace for the first time.

Swami poured His love on us. Even then, my natural instincts turned lovingly towards the enchanting Person but my weaknesses and worldly habits turned me away from Him. I lacked the moral fibre to transform myself. I was scared that He would reveal my nefarious doings.

In fact, I loved and dreaded Swami’s interview. In fact, I wanted to get away from Puttaparthi and I wanted to avoid joining Swami’s School. But Swami’s infinite mercy and grace did not throw me into the jaws of the world.

I went inside with bated breath and beating heart. As usual groups of devotees were taken in by Bhagawan, into the inner interview room. I was relieved when our turn was over and Swami moved to distribute Vibhuti packets. Suddenly He halted. The expression on His countenance changed from motherly Love to fatherly sternness. He beckoned me back into the inner interview room, alone!

My hands would not stop shaking and my heartbeat raced beyond the range of my E.C.G. scale. He was already seated and commanded me to sit at His Feet. I sweated profusely. Then He asked me a question, “Tell Me! Do you believe in Swami or not?” (By now it had become a choice between wanting to believe in Swami or not).

He then gave me an undeniable and incredible proof of His omnipresence, of which even my own mother did not know. He told me how, utilizing my pocket money, I had gone to a Hindi movie, instead of attending school. He even told me the name of the film I had gone to, the name of the friend with whom I had gone, a Sarabjit Singh and even the amount of money I spent on ‘Samosas’ during the interval which was incidentally Rs 10/-.

This revelation jolted me into the realization of my aimless derogatory living and opened new vistas of a happy, joyful life, in which I have made and am making sincere efforts to transform myself.

Do You Have Faith In Me? – A Divine Call To Trust, Surrender, And Inner Strength

Do You Have Faith In Me is a deeply touching spiritual question that reaches the heart of every devotee. It is not only a question asked by the Divine to test belief; it is also an invitation to look within and examine the strength of our trust. Faith becomes real when life is uncertain, prayers seem delayed, and the mind still chooses to hold on to God.

Many people say they have faith when everything is going well. When health is good, work is smooth, relationships are peaceful, and desires are fulfilled, devotion feels easy. But true faith is revealed when difficulties arise. In those moments, the devotee must decide whether to depend only on fear and worry or to remember the loving presence of the Divine.

Do You Have Faith In Me teaches that faith is not blind imagination. It is a sacred relationship built through love, experience, surrender, and inner conviction. A devotee may not understand every event, but still trusts that God knows the path. Human vision is limited, but divine wisdom sees past, present, and future together.

Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba often reminded devotees that God is always near, guiding, protecting, correcting, and strengthening them. His grace may not always come in the form expected by the mind. Sometimes grace removes a problem. Sometimes it gives courage to face the problem. Sometimes it changes the outer situation, and sometimes it transforms the heart from within.

Do You Have Faith In Me becomes meaningful when we stop measuring God’s love only by the fulfillment of our wishes. A child may ask for something harmful, but a loving mother refuses for the child’s welfare. In the same way, the Divine may delay, deny, or redirect certain desires because a higher blessing is being prepared. Faith accepts this with patience.

Faith does not mean that a devotee should avoid effort. Spiritual trust must go together with sincere action. We must perform our duties, speak truth, work honestly, serve others, and keep our thoughts pure. After doing our best, we can offer the results to God. This balance of effort and surrender brings peace to the heart.

Do You Have Faith In Me also reminds us that doubt weakens inner strength. Doubt keeps asking, “Will God help me? Am I alone? What will happen?” Faith answers quietly, “God is with me. I will do my duty and trust His grace.” This does not remove every challenge immediately, but it gives courage to walk through challenges without breaking.

Prayer is one of the strongest ways to deepen faith. When we pray sincerely, we open the heart to divine guidance. Prayer may not always change the world outside, but it changes the world within. It brings patience, humility, clarity, and strength. A heart that prays regularly becomes less dependent on fear and more connected to grace.

Do You Have Faith In Me becomes a personal message during moments of pain, loss, confusion, or loneliness. At such times, the devotee may feel that no one fully understands the struggle. But God knows every unspoken prayer, every hidden tear, and every silent fear. The Divine does not need explanations to understand the heart.

Faith grows stronger through remembrance. Namasmarana, bhajan, meditation, reading sacred teachings, and selfless service keep the mind close to God. When the name of the Lord becomes familiar to the tongue and dear to the heart, the devotee gains support in every situation. Divine remembrance becomes an inner shelter.

Do You Have Faith In Me finally teaches that the greatest faith is not asking God to follow our plan, but trusting ourselves to God’s plan. This surrender does not make life empty; it makes life sacred. The devotee learns to accept success with gratitude, failure with patience, correction with humility, and blessings with responsibility.

A life of faith should also become a life of love. If we truly trust God, we must live according to His teachings. We should hurt none, help wherever possible, forgive quickly, speak gently, and serve without pride. Faith that does not change conduct remains incomplete. True faith shines through character.

In the end, Do You Have Faith In Me is a divine question that awakens the soul. It asks the devotee to move from fear to trust, from doubt to surrender, from restlessness to peace, and from selfishness to service. When the heart answers with love and lives with purity, every step becomes guided by divine grace.
