Tinderbox
i often wondered what i would save in the event of a fire
we all stared in shock and disbelief rooted to the concrete pavement
as menacing black crouching dragons mushroomed
bombing the shivering horizon
spewing red volcanic flames from flaring nostrils
threatening to reduce to ash our homes, possessions
and lives on a breezy, status quo, Monday afternoon in
Brevard County, Florida
Hurriedly i collected the priorities, irreplaceable memoirs, documents,
and items, stuffing my car and suitcase… just in case
turning on sprinklers, i scanned my home
several houses, blocks away, had already burned to the ground
emergency water helicopters and fire engines
bravely battled the out of control inferno
in the midst of the anxiety, confusion, and panic
i felt an odd surge of extraordinary lucid impressions
flooding my consciousness
What could i truly call my own?
everything i held dear including this flesh and blood identity
a gift offered and enjoyed for a brief, tenuous
fleeting, mysterious moment in time
You open Your panoramic, divinely dramatic All-seeing eye
and the entire Universe writhes and dances
diving through fiery hoops, like professional fire-eaters
swallowing, consuming their insatiable blazeraging desires
You blink eternal beyond the ultra-silent starless people-less formless night
One perfect, pure immaculate orange-robed Sadhu [ascetic] sits in classic lotus pose
and thinks of…..absolutely nothing

Tinderbox
In the journey of life, every heart carries hidden emotions, desires, fears, and hopes waiting for the right spark. A single thought, a harsh word, or an unexpected challenge can become a Tinderbox that ignites powerful reactions within us. Just as dry wood catches fire quickly, the human mind also reacts when filled with anger, ego, jealousy, or impatience. Spiritual wisdom teaches us to remain calm even when surrounded by situations that resemble a burning Tinderbox. Inner peace can only survive when the mind learns discipline and faith.
Many spiritual seekers believe that life itself is a test of balance. Problems arise unexpectedly, relationships become difficult, and worldly desires create confusion. In such moments, the atmosphere around us turns into a Tinderbox of emotions. Instead of reacting with negativity, one must learn the power of silence, prayer, and self-control. Saints and enlightened souls have always advised humanity to avoid feeding unnecessary conflicts because a restless mind spreads suffering not only within but also to others nearby.
The teachings shared through Devotional India often remind readers that spiritual growth begins when a person understands the source of inner disturbance. External situations are not always the true problem. The real Tinderbox exists inside the uncontrolled mind. A small misunderstanding becomes a major issue because emotions are left unmanaged. Meditation, chanting, and acts of kindness slowly cool this fire and transform the heart into a place of compassion.
History and spiritual literature provide countless examples of people who turned moments of destruction into opportunities for awakening. Some individuals faced criticism, loss, or betrayal, yet they chose forgiveness over revenge. They refused to become a living Tinderbox that spreads pain everywhere. Instead, they became symbols of patience and wisdom. Such examples inspire modern seekers to stay grounded during difficult times and trust divine timing.
The spiritual reflections presented by Devotional India encourage individuals to practice awareness daily. Every thought should be observed carefully because negativity grows silently. One careless action can transform a peaceful environment into a dangerous Tinderbox of misunderstanding and emotional suffering. When people learn humility and gratitude, they stop reacting impulsively and begin responding with maturity and clarity.
In families, workplaces, and society, harmony depends upon emotional control. Arguments often begin from small misunderstandings that quickly become a Tinderbox of anger. Spiritual discipline teaches that listening calmly is more powerful than speaking harshly. True strength lies not in winning arguments but in protecting peace. A compassionate heart can extinguish emotional fires before they spread further.
Through prayer and devotion, the restless mind slowly transforms. The wisdom shared by Devotional India inspires seekers to replace negativity with faith and patience. Every challenge should become a lesson rather than a Tinderbox of fear and frustration. Divine remembrance gives strength to remain peaceful even during chaos.
Ultimately, life offers two choices. One may either live like a burning Tinderbox, reacting to every situation with anger and instability, or become a source of calmness that spreads light and hope. Spiritual understanding teaches that peace begins within. When the heart is purified through devotion, kindness, and wisdom, no external situation can ignite inner destruction. This realization becomes the true path toward harmony and spiritual fulfillment shared lovingly through Devotional India.
