What Best Should I…, Oh My Lord!?!
Facing a situation, call it unprecedented, how do I pass this phase, facing the same off, while doing My Best? When I had this thought-provoking stream of introspection, I have decided to pen them calling it a prayer from my heart, an offering to My Beloved Inner Source n’ Force, Lord Supreme Sri Sathya Sai.
What best should I…, Oh Lord!
Offer Thee, Oh my Beloved?
Seeking an urgent reprieve,
When at a time the humanity is tottering,
Caught up in a pandemic pandemonium,
With an unseen guest playing global havoc,
Our newfound guest on planet earth,
Acting and enacting as a great leveller,
What best should I, my Lord?
What best should I?
Is it any Mantra with Yantra following any Tantra?
Or,
Is it an act of charity helping the needy?
Citing ‘Love-All – Serve-All’?
Should I jump in the fray seeking nothing?
Holding aloft the Sai banner, ‘Help-Ever – Hurt-Never’?
What should I do! O! my Lord?
Serving my planet, serving my fellow men?
Quelling this SOS cries that,
Turns louder and louder, louder as time pass by?
Should I chant the Rudram aloud?
Loud and clear,
To catch the devil by its neck?
To squeeze ‘him’ out of life?
Or,
Should I sit and sing,
Loud and aloud,
Thy Love Elixir,
Elixir of Sai bhajans?
Singing paeans at Beloved Thee!
Serenading my Lord Supreme!
What if my Lord! If I lock myself down?
Locking my inner foes,
The Arishadvargas,
Six-packed inner foe of,
Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Mada and Matsarya,
Only to smart pick up,
Picking up in ‘practice diligent’,
Practising Thy precept,
Following Thy dictum,
Loving All, Serving All,
Helping Ever, Hurting Never.
Praying from deep within,
Seeking nothing, but,
Goodness for all!
Samastha Lokah Sukhino Bhavantu!
Peace n’ Harmony for Worlds-Many, Worlds-All?
What should I, my Lord!?!
To win an urgent reprieve!?!
Who is this newfound guest, My Lord!
Is she a demoness?
Or,
A great leveller?
An instrument at Thy Hand?
Here to lead the humans,
The human, back to his roots?
Reinstating righteousness,
Righteousness on a firm footing!?!
With my anguished rhyming ruling the roost,
With my wits almost come to its dead end,
Do I hear an answer?
A Whisper from my deep within?
A Whispering Voice sans any noise,
Calling me, inviting me,
To dive deep, dive within,
Seeking The Source n’ The Force Within,
‘Sarva Karana Karanam’
Seeking The True Truth!
In silence, In SaiLence!
For,
There is no greater healing,
Whispers The Voice,
Than Knowing The True Truth!
The Truth Of Quintessential Sai!
The Truth Of Quintessential Sai Within!
The Truth Of Existence!!
The Truth Of Oneness!!!

What Best Should I – A Question That Leads to Right Living
What Best Should I is a simple yet powerful question that can guide a person toward wiser decisions, nobler actions, and a more meaningful life. Many times, people ask what they want, what they can gain, or what others will think. But this question turns the mind in a higher direction. It asks us to pause and consider what is right, useful, compassionate, and spiritually uplifting.
Life presents many situations where the answer is not always easy. We may face confusion in relationships, work, family duties, personal habits, or spiritual practice. In such moments, the mind may become restless and emotional. If we act in haste, we may later regret our words or choices. A sincere pause can save us from many mistakes.
What Best Should I reminds us that every action has an effect. A harsh word can hurt someone deeply. A kind word can give hope. A selfish decision can disturb many people. A thoughtful decision can bring peace. When we ask this question sincerely, we begin to think beyond personal comfort and consider the larger good.
Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba always emphasized the importance of right conduct. He taught that life should be guided by truth, love, peace, non-violence, and righteousness. These values are not meant only for prayer halls or spiritual gatherings. They are meant for daily life. Every conversation, every duty, and every decision becomes a chance to practice them.
A person who asks this question before speaking becomes more careful with words. Speech is powerful. It can become a blessing or a wound. Before replying in anger, we can ask whether silence would be better. Before criticizing someone, we can ask whether our words will help or merely hurt. This small inner check can make relationships more peaceful.
What Best Should I also applies to the use of time. Many people waste hours in worry, gossip, distraction, or unnecessary entertainment. Time is one of the most precious gifts of life. Once it passes, it cannot be brought back. A wise person uses time for prayer, learning, service, work, rest, family care, and self-improvement. Balanced living begins with conscious choices.
This question is also useful in spiritual practice. A devotee may wonder how to grow closer to God. The answer is often not complicated. Begin with sincerity. Pray with feeling. Serve without pride. Speak truthfully. Reduce anger. Help someone in need. Remember God during both joy and difficulty. Spiritual progress is made through small, steady steps.
Sometimes the best action is not dramatic. It may be simply listening to someone patiently, apologizing for a mistake, forgiving an old hurt, helping at home, completing a duty properly, or controlling one negative habit. The ego likes big displays, but the heart grows through quiet goodness. God sees the sincerity behind even the smallest action.
What Best Should I becomes especially important when we are emotionally disturbed. Anger, fear, jealousy, and pride can make the mind unclear. During such times, we should not rush. A few moments of silence, prayer, or deep breathing can help us return to balance. Then our decision will come from wisdom rather than reaction.
In family life, this question can prevent many conflicts. Instead of asking who is right and who is wrong, we can ask what will bring peace. Instead of holding on to ego, we can choose understanding. Instead of repeating old complaints, we can start fresh. A home becomes loving when its members choose harmony over victory.
In service, this question helps remove ego. Service should not be done for name, praise, or recognition. It should be done because another person is in need. When we serve with humility, the heart becomes pure. The one who receives help is blessed, but the one who serves also receives inner growth. Selfless service is one of the best answers to life’s higher calling.
What Best Should I also teaches responsibility toward society and nature. We should ask whether our choices create harm or healing. Are we wasting resources? Are we speaking respectfully? Are we helping where we can? Are we living only for ourselves, or are we contributing something good to the world? A responsible life is a spiritual life.
The question also protects us from comparison. Many people become unhappy because they measure their life against others. They ask why someone has more success, wealth, attention, or comfort. But comparison weakens gratitude. A better question is how we can use our own gifts well. Every person has a unique duty, path, and opportunity to grow.
When this question becomes a habit, conscience becomes stronger. We slowly begin to feel from within what is right and what is wrong. The inner voice becomes clearer. We may still make mistakes, but we recover faster. We learn, correct ourselves, and move forward with humility.
What Best Should I is finally a call to live with awareness. It asks us to choose truth over convenience, kindness over anger, service over selfishness, and faith over fear. When we ask this question sincerely, life becomes more guided and purposeful. The best answer is not always the easiest one, but it is the one that brings peace to the heart and goodness to the world.
