Nadia Temple

The Palpara Temple, located in the neighborhood of Palpara in Chakdaha (Nadia district, West Bengal), is famous for its exquisite 17th-century terracotta architecture.

It is one of the rare surviving temples of its kind in the district, and is now preserved by the Archaeological Survey of India.

Mythological Significance & History

Built in 1678 A.D., the temple exemplifies the traditional Jor Bangla style, where two Bengali-style roofs are joined side by side.
The original builder is not clearly documented, but its preservation under ASI attests to its historical and artistic significance.

How to Reach to Temple

By Train: The nearest major station is Sealdah (Kolkata). From there, take a train to Palpara Railway Station, which lies on the main line (~1.5 hours). A short walk from the station leads you to the temple.

By Road: Located in Chakdaha subdivision, it is accessible by local transport from Krishnanagar or Kalyani.
