The temple was established around 1542 CE by Gopala Bhatta Goswami, one of the principal disciples of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu Legend holds that a shaligram shila (sacred stone) he kept miraculously transformed into a divine form of Krishna—Radha Ramana—on a full moon morning, fulfilling his heartfelt desire for a deity form . The samadhi (memorial shrine) of Gopala Bhatta Goswami lies adjacent within the temple complex

Architecture of the Temple

The structure features a Tripuri-style dome inspired by traditional village huts, topped with a stupa-like element that reveals Buddhist influences.

The temple includes a Nat Mandapa (prayer hall) and Garbhagriha (sanctum). Inside are only the upper halves of the deities’ idols — tribal-style head carvings—and one Shiva head is crafted from silver
