॥ navamaḥ sargaḥ ॥
॥ mandamukundaḥ ॥

tāmatha manmathakhinnāṃ ratirasabhinnāṃ viṣādasampannām ।
anuchintitaharicharitāṃ kalahāntaritamuvācha sakhī ॥ 51 ॥

English Meaning:
Then her companion spoke to Rādhā, who was tormented by the arrows of love, overwhelmed by the sweetness of passion, filled with sorrow, constantly thinking of Hari’s deeds, and separated from her beloved because of their quarrel.

॥ gītaṃ 18 ॥

harirabhisarati vahati madhupavanē ।
kimaparamadhikasukhaṃ sakhi bhuvanē ॥
mādhavē mā kuru mānini mānamayē ॥ 1 ॥

English Meaning:
O friend! When the fragrant spring breeze is blowing and Hari is coming to meet you, what greater happiness could there be in this world? O proud beloved, do not remain offended with Mādhava and do not hold on to your resentment.

tālaphalādapi gurumatisarasam ।
kiṃ viphalīkuruṣē kuchakalaśam ॥ 2 ॥

English Meaning:
O friend! Your breasts are fuller and more enticing than ripe palm fruits. Why do you let the beauty of your lovely bosom go to waste and deprive your beloved of its delight?

kati na kathitamidamanupadamachiram ।
mā parihara harimatiśayaruchiram ॥ 3 ॥

English Meaning:
How many times have I not told you this, again and again? Do not abandon Hari, who is exceedingly charming and beautiful.

kimiti viṣīdasi rōdiṣi vikalā ।
vihasati yuvatisabhā tava sakalā ॥ 4 ॥

English Meaning:
Why do you grieve and weep so helplessly? Your entire circle of young companions is smiling at your present condition.

sajalanalinīdalaśītalaśayanē ।
harimavalōkya saphalay nayanē ॥ 5 ॥

English Meaning:
Upon a couch cool like lotus leaves moistened with water, behold Hari and make your eyes fruitful by seeing him.

janayasi manasi kimiti gurukhēdam ।
śṛṇu mama vachanamanīhitabhēdam ॥ 6 ॥

English Meaning:
Why do you create such profound sorrow within your heart? Listen to my words; I shall tell you how to dispel this needless anguish from your mind.

harirupayātu vadatu bahumadhuram ।
kimiti karōṣi hṛdayamatividhuram ॥ 7 ॥

English Meaning:
Let Hari come to you and speak words filled with sweetness. Why then do you make your heart suffer so intensely?

śrījayadēvabhaṇitamatilalitam ।
sukhayatu rasikajanaṃ haricharitam ॥ 8 ॥

English Meaning:
May this exceedingly graceful account of Hari, composed by Śrī Jayadeva, bring delight to all devotees and lovers of divine rasa.

snigdhē yatparuṣāsi yatpraṇamati stabdhāsi yadrāgiṇi dvēṣasthāsi yadunmukhē vimukhatāṃ yātāsi tasminpriyē ।
yuktaṃ tadviparītakāriṇi tava śrīkhaṇḍacharchā viṣaṃ śītāṃśustapanō himaṃ hutavahaḥ krīḍāmudō yātanāḥ ॥ 52 ॥

English Meaning:
O tender-hearted one! Toward the beloved to whom you should show affection, you become harsh; when he bows humbly before you, you remain stiff and proud; when you are filled with love, you turn toward him with aversion; and when he lovingly approaches you, you turn away from him. O dear friend, because of such contrary behavior on your part, sandalwood paste seems like poison, the cool moon like the scorching sun, snow like blazing fire, and the joy of amorous play like unbearable torment.

॥ iti gītagōvindē kalahāntaritāvarṇanē mandamukundō nāma navamaḥ sargaḥ ॥

English Meaning:
Thus ends the ninth canto of Śrī Gītagōvinda, entitled “Mandamukundaḥ,” which describes the heroine separated from her beloved because of a quarrel.
