Mythological Significance & History

The temple is rooted in local tradition linking it to the esteemed Mithila tantric priest Madan Manohar Upadhyay, who established the shrine centuries ago. Legend says that during pond excavation within the temple grounds, the goddess manifested herself. From then on, worship began with the yantra she revealed.
The site is considered over a thousand years old, and along with other nearby spiritual centers like Uchaitha and Rajrajeshwar, forms a powerful Shakti‑Peeth triangle in the heart of Mithila.
