Kuntha Vaikuntha

॥ ṣaṣṭhaḥ sargaḥ ॥
॥ kuṇṭhavaikuṇṭhaḥ ॥

atha tāṃ gantumaśaktāṃ chiramanuraktāṃ latāgṛhē dṛṣṭvā ।
tachcharitaṃ gōvindē manasijamandē sakhī prāha ॥ 37 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ: इसके बाद सखी ने देखा कि राधा बहुत समय से श्रीकृष्ण के प्रति अनुरक्त होने पर भी उनके पास जाने में असमर्थ होकर लतागृह में बैठी हुई है। तब उसने कामदेव की पीड़ा से व्याकुल गोविंद के विषय में राधा के आचरण का वर्णन करते हुए उससे कहा।

English Meaning: Then the friend saw Rādhā, who, though deeply in love for a long time, was unable to go to Kṛṣṇa and remained in the bower of creepers. She therefore spoke to her about Govinda, who was tormented by the pains of love, describing his condition and behavior.

॥ gītaṃ 12 ॥

paśyati diśi diśi rahasi bhavantam ।
tadadharamadhuramadhūni pibantam ॥
nātha harē jagannātha harē sīdati rādhā vāsagṛhē – dhruvam ॥ 1 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ: हे नाथ, हे हरि, हे जगन्नाथ! राधा अपने निवास-गृह में निश्चय ही अत्यंत दुखी होकर पड़ी है। वह एकांत में चारों दिशाओं में तुम्हें ही देखती है और कल्पना करती है कि तुम उसके मधुर अधरों के अमृत का पान कर रहे हो।

English Meaning: O Lord, O Hari, O Lord of the universe! Rādhā surely lies in deep distress within her dwelling. In solitude she looks in every direction for you, imagining you drinking the nectar of her sweet lips.

tvadabhisaraṇarabhasēna valantī ।
patati padāni kiyanti chalantī ॥ 2 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ: तुम्हारे पास शीघ्र पहुँचने की उत्कंठा में वह कुछ कदम आगे बढ़ती है, फिर डगमगाकर गिर पड़ती है।

English Meaning: Eager to hasten toward you, she takes a few steps forward, but, overcome by longing, she stumbles and falls.

vihitaviśadabisakisalayavalayā ।
jīvati paramiha tava ratikalayā ॥ 3 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ: उसने कोमल और स्वच्छ कमल-तंतुओं तथा पत्तियों के कंगन बना रखे हैं। वह यहाँ केवल तुम्हारे साथ प्रेम-सुख की स्मृति और आशा के सहारे ही जीवित है।

English Meaning: She has adorned herself with delicate bracelets made of tender lotus fibers and leaves. Here she survives only through the thought and hope of enjoying the pleasures of love with you.

muhuravalōkitamaṇḍanalīlā ।
madhuripurahamiti bhāvanaśīlā ॥ 4 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ: वह बार-बार अपने आभूषणों को देखती और सजने की चेष्टा करती है, यह सोचते हुए कि “मैं मधुरिपु श्रीकृष्ण की प्रिय हूँ।”

English Meaning: Again and again she looks at her ornaments and engages in the playful act of adorning herself, thinking, “I am the beloved of Madhuripu Kṛṣṇa.”

tvaritamupaiti na kathamabhisāram ।
haririti vadati sakhīmanuvāram ॥ 5 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ: वह बार-बार अपनी सखी से कहती है—“हरि मिलने के लिए शीघ्र क्यों नहीं आते?” इस प्रकार वह उनके आगमन की उत्कंठा में व्याकुल रहती है।

English Meaning: Again and again she asks her friend, “Why does Hari not come quickly to meet me?” Thus she remains restless with longing for his arrival.

śliṣyati chumbati jaladharakalpam ।
harirupagata iti timiramanalpam ॥ 6 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ: अंधकार में किसी घने मेघ के समान वस्तु को देखकर वह उसे श्रीहरि समझकर आलिंगन करती है और चूमती है, मानो हरि स्वयं उसके पास आ गए हों।

English Meaning: In the darkness, seeing something resembling a dense cloud, she mistakes it for Hari, embraces it, and kisses it, believing that her beloved has finally come to her.

bhavati vilambini vigalitalajjā ।
vilapati rōditi vāsakasajjā ॥ 7 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ: जब विलंब बढ़ता जाता है, तब उसकी लज्जा भी दूर हो जाती है। मिलन के लिए सजी हुई वह विलाप करती है और रोती रहती है।

English Meaning: As the delay grows longer, her natural shyness disappears. Dressed and prepared for the meeting, she laments and weeps in anguish.

śrījayadēvakavēridamuditam ।
rasikajanaṃ tanutāmatimuditam ॥ 8 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ: कवि श्री जयदेव द्वारा रचित यह आनंदमय गीत रसिक भक्तों के हृदय में अत्यंत आनंद उत्पन्न करे।

English Meaning: May this delightful song composed by the poet Śrī Jayadeva bring supreme joy to the hearts of those who relish divine love.

vipulapulakapāliḥ sphītasītkāramanta-rjanitajaḍimakākuvyākulaṃ vyāharantī ।
tava kitava vidhattē’mandakandarpachintāṃ rasajaladhinimagnā dhyānalagnā mṛgākṣī ॥ 38 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ: हे कपटी प्रियतम! वह मृगनयनी राधा रोमांच से भर जाती है, तीव्र सिसकारियाँ भरती है और भीतर उत्पन्न भावों के कारण उसकी वाणी भी व्याकुल हो जाती है। प्रेम के अथाह समुद्र में डूबी हुई और निरंतर तुम्हारे ध्यान में लीन वह तुम्हारे कारण कामदेव की तीव्र पीड़ा का चिंतन करती रहती है।

English Meaning: O deceitful beloved! That doe-eyed Rādhā becomes covered with waves of horripilation, breathes out intense sighs, and speaks in a voice disturbed by the emotions arising within her. Immersed in the ocean of love and absorbed in meditation upon you, she constantly suffers from the intense torment of Cupid.

aṅgēṣvābharaṇaṃ karōti bahuśaḥ patrē’pi sañchāriṇi prāptaṃ tvāṃ pariśaṅkatē vitanutē śayyāṃ chiraṃ dhyāyati ।
ityākalpavikalpatalparachanāsaṅkalpalīlāśata-vyāsaktāpi vinā tvayā varatanurnaiṣā niśāṃ nēṣyati ॥ 39 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ: वह बार-बार अपने अंगों पर आभूषण सजाती है। पत्ते के हिलने पर भी उसे लगता है कि शायद तुम आ गए हो। वह शय्या तैयार करती है और लंबे समय तक तुम्हारा ध्यान करती रहती है। इस प्रकार मिलन के लिए शय्या सजाने और कल्पना करने की सैकड़ों चेष्टाओं में लगी हुई भी यह सुंदरांगी तुम्हारे बिना यह रात नहीं बिता पाएगी।

English Meaning: She repeatedly adorns her body with ornaments. Even when a leaf moves, she suspects that you have arrived. She prepares the bed and meditates upon you for a long time. Though absorbed in hundreds of playful preparations and imaginings of the bed of union, this beautiful woman cannot pass the night without you.

kiṃ viśrāmyasi kṛṣṇabhōgibhavanē bhāṇḍīrabhūmīruhi bhrāta ryāhi nadṛṣṭigōcharamitassānandanandāspadam।
radhāyāvachanaṃ tadadhvagamukhānnandāntikēgōpatō gōvindasyajayanti sāyamatithiprāśastyagarbhāgiraḥ॥ 40 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ: हे भ्राता! तुम कृष्ण के निवास-स्थान में क्यों ठहरे हुए हो? भाण्डीरवन की भूमि पर स्थित इस वृक्ष के नीचे से चलो और उस आनंदमय नंद के निवास-स्थान की ओर जाओ, जो यहाँ से दृष्टिगोचर नहीं है। वहाँ नंद के समीप जाकर राधा का संदेश पहुँचाओ। गोविंद के विषय में ये वचन संध्या के समय अतिथि के आगमन की महिमा से युक्त होकर अत्यंत मंगलकारी हों।

English Meaning: O brother, why do you remain here in Kṛṣṇa’s dwelling? Go from beneath this tree in the land of Bhāṇḍīra toward the joyful abode of Nanda, which cannot be seen from here. Go to Nanda and convey Rādhā’s message. May these words concerning Govinda, carrying the auspicious significance of a welcome offered to a beloved guest at evening, bring blessing.

॥ iti gītagōvindē vāsakasajjāvarṇanē kuṇṭhavaikuṇṭhō nāma ṣaṣṭhaḥ sargaḥ ॥

हिंदी अर्थ: इस प्रकार श्रीगीतगोविंद में वासकसज्जा नायिका के वर्णन से संबंधित “कुण्ठवैकुण्ठ” नामक षष्ठ सर्ग पूर्ण हुआ।

English Meaning: Thus concludes the sixth canto of Śrī Gītagōvinda, entitled “Kuṇṭha-Vaikuṇṭha,” describing the heroine who is prepared and longing for her beloved’s arrival.
