Easwaramma Day Celebrations, At Dharmakshetra, Mumbai On 6th May, 2010

eswara001Another most auspicious Thursday morning dawned at Dharmakshetra, the abode of our beloved Swami in Mumbai, with Suprabatham and Nagarsankeertan charging the Mandir and its surroundings, rendered by earnest devotees. But what made this morning more significant was that it was Easwaramma Day, a day dedicated to Bhagawan’s mother. Always known for her love for children, this day was aptly celebrated by children to honour her and all mothers. Sri Sathya Sai Bal Vikas children dressed in white, accompanied by enthusiastic parents and Gurus, gathered at around 6.15 am in the morning at Shanti Deep where a portrait of Mother Easwaramma too adorned the Sanctum Sanctorum of our Lord.

The session started with Bhajans being sung with gusto, by the Sri Sathya Sai Bal Vikas children, taking on the names of Vinayaka, Guru, Vitthala, Shiva, something that would have surely pleased the Chosen Mother. This was followed by a pledge taken by all the Sri Sathya Sai Bal Vikas children before their parents in the Omnipresence of Bhagawan with a fervent prayer to the Lord to help them lead a noble life imbibing the highest spiritual lessons taught through Sri Sathya Sai Bal Vikas.

eswara002
Master Parth, a group II Bal Vikas student, reverentially conducted the Pledge Taking ceremony with enthusiasm and a deep sense of fervour, kneeling before his mother while the other children followed in a similar manner repeating the words of the pledge after him. The Pledge with its relevant pauses reads as under :
On this/ most auspicious/ Easwaramma Day/ I / as a student of /Shri Sathya Sai Bal Vikas/, do hereby pray/ in the omnipresence/ of Bhagwan Baba/ to love and serve my Mother/ in the following ways:-

To always obey/ respect and serve my Mother /as a living God/ who gave me birth/ and is bringing me up with affection and care/. Help me/ to make my Parents happy/ by behaving properly/ at all times/ both at home and outside/Further/ to love and respect my Motherland Bharat/ to the best of my ability/ and capacity /so as to enable me/ to put into practice /that there is only one caste / that is the caste of Humanity/ and thus broaden my heart/ to lovingly embrace/ the whole Mankind /as one family/In this manner/ I dedicate myself/ to follow the ideals of/ Bhagwan Shri Sathya Sai Baba/ about serving my Mother/ and thereby contributing my mite /to the peace/, progress and prosperity/ of Mankind/ Sai ram.

eswara003
The mothers and Gurus then blessed the children praying to the Lord and the Divine Mother to always shower their Grace and Blessings on all the children. The short morning session concluded with the chants of ‘Twameva Matacha Pita Twameva’, thus surrendering to Him to be our Ultimate Mother, Father, Preceptor and All. The gathering dispersed but not before Mangala Aarti was performed to the Divine Mother and Bhagawan by one and all present.

Bal Vikas Easwaramma Day Celebrations – A Divine Tribute To Motherly Love And Values

Bal Vikas Easwaramma Day Celebrations is a beautiful occasion that reminds children, parents, teachers, and devotees of the sacred role of motherhood, value education, and loving service. Easwaramma, the revered mother of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, represents simplicity, purity, compassion, and deep faith. Her life teaches that true greatness does not need outer show. It shines through humility, devotion, and selfless love.

In Bal Vikas, children learn not only prayers, stories, and songs, but also the deeper meaning of human values. Truth, right conduct, peace, love, and nonviolence become the foundation of their character. When Easwaramma Day is celebrated, it becomes a special opportunity to connect these values with the love of a mother and the responsibility of living a noble life.

Bal Vikas Easwaramma Day Celebrations reminds us that a mother is the first teacher of every child. Before formal education begins, the child learns love, language, discipline, kindness, and faith from the mother. A mother’s words, actions, patience, and prayers silently shape the child’s heart. This is why honoring motherhood is not only a family duty, but also a spiritual act.

Easwaramma’s life was simple, yet deeply meaningful. She did not seek fame or comfort. Her heart was filled with concern for children, the poor, and the suffering. Her loving nature inspired many service activities connected with education, health, and care for society. Through her example, devotees learn that compassion should not remain only as feeling; it should become action.

Bal Vikas Easwaramma Day Celebrations often include prayers, bhajans, skits, speeches, value-based songs, storytelling, and service activities. Children may present the life and ideals of Easwaramma through simple performances. These programs help young minds understand that devotion is not only sitting in prayer, but also respecting parents, helping others, speaking truth, and living with humility.

The celebration also gives children a chance to express gratitude to their mothers. In daily life, children may sometimes take a mother’s love for granted. A mother works quietly, sacrifices silently, and worries deeply for the welfare of her child. Easwaramma Day teaches children to recognize this love and respond with respect, obedience, and affection.

Bal Vikas Easwaramma Day Celebrations becomes more meaningful when children are encouraged to practice values at home. A child can offer love to the mother by speaking gently, helping in small household duties, studying sincerely, avoiding anger, and showing respect to elders. These small actions become real worship. A flower offered in prayer is good, but a kind action offered to one’s mother is even more beautiful.

Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba always emphasized that education without character is incomplete. Bal Vikas helps children develop both knowledge and goodness. Easwaramma Day supports this mission by showing that the home is the first school and the mother is the first guide. When parents and teachers work together, children receive a strong moral foundation.

Bal Vikas Easwaramma Day Celebrations also teaches the importance of service. Children can be guided to share food, visit the needy, offer help to elders, care for nature, or participate in small acts of kindness. Such service activities develop compassion at a young age. When children learn to feel the pain of others, they grow into sensitive and responsible human beings.

The role of Bal Vikas gurus is very important during this celebration. They do not merely train children for performances; they help them understand the inner message. A speech or drama is useful only when it inspires better conduct. The aim is not to show talent alone, but to awaken love, gratitude, discipline, and devotion in the heart of each child.

Bal Vikas Easwaramma Day Celebrations also reminds parents of their responsibility. Children learn more from example than from advice. If parents speak kindly, pray sincerely, serve humbly, and live honestly, children naturally absorb these values. A peaceful home becomes the best Bal Vikas classroom. A loving family becomes the first temple of human values.

Easwaramma’s name itself is connected with motherly divinity. Through her, we remember the sacred power of maternal love. Every mother who raises a child with patience and values is serving society. Every child who respects and cares for the mother is walking on the path of gratitude. This mutual love makes family life pure and meaningful.

Bal Vikas Easwaramma Day Celebrations finally inspires everyone to see motherhood in a wider sense. Motherly love is not limited only to one person. Nature is our mother, society supports us like a mother, and the Divine protects us with motherly compassion. When this understanding grows, we learn to care for the environment, serve society, and trust God with faith.

In the end, this celebration is not only an annual program but a call to live with love every day. It teaches children to honor their mothers, respect teachers, serve the needy, and follow Swami’s message through good conduct. When Easwaramma’s ideals are practiced sincerely, homes become peaceful, children become noble, and society becomes brighter with divine values.
