अथ तृतीयोऽध्यायः ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
अब श्री गुरुगीता का तृतीय अध्याय आरंभ होता है।

English Meaning:
Now begins the Third Chapter of the Sri Guru Gita.

श्लोक 236

atha kāmyajapasthānaṃ kathayāmi varānanē ।
sāgarāntē sarittīrē tīrthē hariharālayē ॥ 236 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
हे सुंदर मुख वाली! अब मैं कामनापूर्वक किए जाने वाले जप के स्थानों का वर्णन करता हूँ। समुद्र के तट पर, नदी के किनारे, तीर्थस्थल में तथा हरि-हर के मंदिर में जप करना शुभ माना गया है।

English Meaning:
O beautiful-faced one, I shall now describe the places prescribed for desire-oriented japa. One may perform japa at the seashore, on a riverbank, at a sacred pilgrimage place, or in a temple of Hari and Hara.

श्लोक 237

śaktidēvālayē gōṣṭhē sarvadēvālayē śubhē ।
vaṭasya dhātryā mūlē vā maṭhē bṛndāvanē tathā ॥ 237 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
शक्ति के मंदिर में, गौशाला में, किसी शुभ देवालय में, वटवृक्ष या धात्री वृक्ष के नीचे, मठ में तथा वृंदावन जैसे पवित्र स्थान में भी जप किया जा सकता है।

English Meaning:
Japa may also be performed in a temple of Shakti, a cowshed, an auspicious temple, beneath a banyan or dhatri tree, in a monastery, or in a sacred grove such as Vrindavan.

श्लोक 238

pavitrē nirmalē dēśē nityānuṣṭhānatō’pi vā ।
nirvēdanēna maunēna japamētat samārabhēt ॥ 238 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
पवित्र और निर्मल स्थान में, अथवा अपने नित्य अनुष्ठान के स्थान पर, वैराग्य तथा मौन भाव के साथ इस जप को आरंभ करना चाहिए।

English Meaning:
This japa should be undertaken in a pure and clean place, or at the place of one’s daily spiritual practice, with detachment and observance of silence.

श्लोक 239

jāpyēna jayamāpnōti japasiddhiṃ phalaṃ tathā ।
hīnaṃ karma tyajētsarvaṃ garhitasthānamēva cha ॥ 239 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
जप के द्वारा विजय तथा जप-सिद्धि का फल प्राप्त होता है। सभी निम्न और अनुचित कर्मों तथा निंदनीय स्थानों का त्याग करना चाहिए।

English Meaning:
Through japa one attains victory and the fruits of accomplishment in japa. All base actions and improper or blameworthy places should be avoided.

श्लोक 240

śmaśānē bilvamūlē vā vaṭamūlāntikē tathā ।
siddhyanti kānakē mūlē chūtavṛkṣasya sannidhau ॥ 240 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
श्मशान में, बिल्ववृक्ष के नीचे, वटवृक्ष की जड़ के समीप, अथवा आम के वृक्ष के पास की गई साधना भी सिद्धि प्रदान करने वाली कही गई है।

English Meaning:
Practice performed in a cremation ground, beneath a bilva tree, near the root of a banyan tree, or near a mango tree is also said to lead to spiritual accomplishment.

श्लोक 241

pītāsanaṃ mōhanē tu hyasitaṃ chābhichārikē ।
jñēyaṃ śuklaṃ cha śāntyarthaṃ vaśyē raktaṃ prakīrtitam ॥ 241 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
मोह से संबंधित साधना के लिए पीले आसन का, अभिचार के लिए काले आसन का, शांति के लिए श्वेत आसन का और वशीकरण के लिए लाल आसन का विधान बताया गया है।

English Meaning:
A yellow seat is prescribed for practices related to delusion, a black seat for abhichara rites, a white seat for peace, and a red seat for subjugation.

श्लोक 242

japaṃ hīnāsanaṃ kurvan hīnakarmaphalapradam ।
gurugītāṃ prayāṇē vā saṅgrāmē ripusaṅkaṭē ॥ 242 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
निम्न या अनुचित आसन पर किया गया जप निम्न फल देने वाला होता है। यात्रा के समय, युद्ध या शत्रु-संकट में भी गुरुगीता का जप किया जा सकता है।

English Meaning:
Japa performed on an inferior or improper seat yields inferior results. The Guru Gita may also be recited while traveling, in battle, or during danger caused by enemies.

श्लोक 243

japan jayamavāpnōti maraṇē muktidāyikā ।
sarvakarmāṇi siddhyanti guruputrē na saṃśayaḥ ॥ 243 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
जप करने से विजय प्राप्त होती है और मृत्यु के समय यह मुक्ति प्रदान करने वाली कही गई है। हे गुरु-पुत्र! इसके द्वारा सभी कर्म सिद्ध होते हैं—इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं।

English Meaning:
Through its recitation one attains victory, and at the time of death it is said to bestow liberation. O child of the Guru, all spiritual undertakings become successful through it; there is no doubt.

श्लोक 244

gurumantrō mukhē yasya tasya siddhyanti nā’nyathā ।
dīkṣayā sarvakarmāṇi siddhyanti guruputrakē ॥ 244 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
जिसके मुख में गुरु-मंत्र है, उसके कार्य सिद्ध होते हैं; अन्यथा नहीं। हे गुरु-पुत्र! गुरु से प्राप्त दीक्षा के द्वारा सभी साधनाएँ और कर्म सिद्ध होते हैं।

English Meaning:
For one who holds the Guru-mantra upon the tongue, spiritual undertakings become accomplished; otherwise they do not. O child of the Guru, through initiation from the Guru, all such practices attain fulfillment.

श्लोक 245

bhavamūlavināśāya chāṣṭapāśanivṛttayē ।
gurugītāmbhasi snānaṃ tattvajñaḥ kurutē sadā ॥ 245 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
तत्त्वज्ञ साधक संसार के मूल का नाश करने और आठ प्रकार के बंधनों से मुक्त होने के लिए सदा गुरुगीता रूपी पवित्र जल में स्नान करता है।

English Meaning:
The knower of Reality continually bathes in the sacred waters of the Guru Gita to destroy the root of worldly existence and become free from the eightfold bonds.

श्लोक 246

sa ēvaṃ sadguruḥ sākṣāt sadasadbrahmavittamaḥ ।
tasya sthānāni sarvāṇi pavitrāṇi na saṃśayaḥ ॥ 246 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
वही साक्षात् सद्गुरु है, जो सत् और असत् तथा ब्रह्म के तत्त्व को भली-भाँति जानता है। उसके सभी स्थान निःसंदेह पवित्र हो जाते हैं।

English Meaning:
He alone is the true Sadguru who knows the Reality of Brahman and the distinction between the real and unreal. All places associated with such a Guru are undoubtedly sacred.

श्लोक 247

sarvaśuddhaḥ pavitrō’sau svabhāvādyatra tiṣṭhati ।
tatra dēvagaṇāḥ sarvē kṣētrapīṭhē charanti cha ॥ 247 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
जहाँ ऐसा पूर्णतः शुद्ध और पवित्र गुरु अपने स्वभाव से निवास करते हैं, वहाँ सभी देवगण भी पवित्र क्षेत्र और पीठ के समान विचरण करते हैं।

English Meaning:
Where such a completely pure and sacred Guru naturally resides, all the hosts of the gods are said to move about there as in a holy sacred field.

श्लोक 248

āsanasthāḥ śayānā vā gachChantastiṣṭhatō’pi vā ।
aśvārūḍhā gajārūḍhāḥ suṣuptā jāgratō’pi vā ॥ 248 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
जो लोग गुरुगीता का जप करते हैं, वे बैठे हों, लेटे हों, चलते हों या खड़े हों; घोड़े या हाथी पर सवार हों, सो रहे हों या जाग रहे हों—हर अवस्था में इसका स्मरण कर सकते हैं।

English Meaning:
Those who recite the Guru Gita may do so whether seated, lying down, walking or standing, riding a horse or elephant, asleep or awake.

श्लोक 249

śuchirbhūtā jñānavantō gurugītāṃ japanti yē ।
tēṣāṃ darśanasaṃsparśāt divyajñānaṃ prajāyatē ॥ 249 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
जो शुद्ध और ज्ञानवान होकर गुरुगीता का जप करते हैं, उनके दर्शन और स्पर्श मात्र से भी दिव्य ज्ञान उत्पन्न होने की बात कही गई है।

English Meaning:
Those who recite the Guru Gita with purity and knowledge are said to become such that even seeing or touching them can awaken divine knowledge.

श्लोक 250

samudrē vai yathā tōyaṃ kṣīrē kṣīraṃ jalē jalam ।
bhinnē kumbhē yathā”kāśaṃ tathā”tmā paramātmani ॥ 250 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
जिस प्रकार समुद्र में जल जल ही रहता है, दूध में दूध और जल में जल मिलकर एक हो जाते हैं, तथा घड़ा टूटने पर उसके भीतर का आकाश बाहरी आकाश से अभिन्न हो जाता है, उसी प्रकार आत्मा परमात्मा में एक हो जाती है।

English Meaning:
Just as water merges with the ocean, milk with milk, and water with water, and as the space within a broken pot becomes one with the vast space, so the individual Self is one with the Supreme Self.

श्लोक 251

tathaiva jñānavān jīvaḥ paramātmani sarvadā ।
aikyēna ramatē jñānī yatra kutra divāniśam ॥ 251 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
उसी प्रकार ज्ञानी जीव सदा परमात्मा में एकत्व का अनुभव करता है। वह दिन-रात जहाँ कहीं भी रहे, उसी एकत्व के आनंद में स्थित रहता है।

English Meaning:
Likewise, the wise one always experiences unity with the Supreme Self. Wherever he may be, day or night, he rejoices in that state of oneness.

श्लोक 252

ēvaṃvidhō mahāyuktaḥ sarvatra vartatē sadā ।
tasmātsarvaprakārēṇa gurubhaktiṃ samācharēt ॥ 252 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
ऐसा महान योगी सदा और सर्वत्र समभाव में स्थित रहता है। इसलिए हर प्रकार से गुरु-भक्ति करनी चाहिए।

English Meaning:
Such a great yogi remains established in this state everywhere and at all times. Therefore, one should cultivate devotion to the Guru in every way.

श्लोक 253

gurusantōṣaṇādēva muktō bhavati pārvati ।
aṇimādiṣu bhōktṛtvaṃ kṛpayā dēvi jāyatē ॥ 253 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
हे पार्वती! गुरु को प्रसन्न करने मात्र से साधक मुक्त हो जाता है। हे देवी! उनकी कृपा से अणिमा आदि सिद्धियों का अनुभव और अधिकार प्राप्त होता है।

English Meaning:
O Parvati, by pleasing the Guru alone, one becomes liberated. O Devi, through His grace, mastery or experience of attainments such as Anima arises.

श्लोक 254

sāmyēna ramatē jñānī divā vā yadi vā niśi ।
ēvaṃvidhō mahāmaunī trailōkyasamatāṃ vrajēt ॥ 254 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
ज्ञानी दिन हो या रात, सदा समभाव में आनंदित रहता है। ऐसा महान मौनी तीनों लोकों के प्रति समान दृष्टि प्राप्त करता है।

English Meaning:
The wise one rejoices in equanimity, whether day or night. Such a great silent sage attains an equal vision toward all the three worlds.

श्लोक 255

atha saṃsāriṇaḥ sarvē gurugītā japēna tu ।
sarvān kāmāṃstu bhuñjanti trisatyaṃ mama bhāṣitam ॥ 255 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
संसार में रहने वाले सभी लोग गुरुगीता के जप से अपनी समस्त उचित कामनाओं का अनुभव कर सकते हैं। यह मेरा तीन बार सत्य कहा हुआ वचन है।

English Meaning:
Those living in the world may, through recitation of the Guru Gita, experience the fulfillment of their various aspirations. This is my thrice-declared truth.

श्लोक 256

satyaṃ satyaṃ punaḥ satyaṃ dharmasāraṃ mayōditam ।
gurugītāsamaṃ stōtraṃ nāsti tattvaṃ gurōḥ param ॥ 256 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
सत्य, सत्य और पुनः सत्य—यह धर्म का सार है। गुरुगीता के समान कोई स्तोत्र नहीं है और गुरु-तत्त्व से बढ़कर कोई परम तत्त्व नहीं है।

English Meaning:
Truth, truth and again truth—this is the essence of dharma. There is no hymn equal to the Guru Gita, nor any Reality higher than the principle of the Guru.

श्लोक 257

gururdēvō gururdharmō gurau niṣṭhā paraṃ tapaḥ ।
gurōḥ parataraṃ nāsti trivāraṃ kathayāmi tē ॥ 257 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
गुरु ही देव हैं, गुरु ही धर्म हैं और गुरु में दृढ़ निष्ठा ही परम तप है। गुरु से बढ़कर कोई नहीं है—मैं तुम्हें यह तीन बार कहता हूँ।

English Meaning:
The Guru is the Divine, the Guru is dharma, and steadfastness in the Guru is the supreme austerity. There is nothing higher than the Guru; I tell you this three times.

श्लोक 258

dhanyā mātā pitā dhanyō gōtraṃ dhanyaṃ kulōdbhavaḥ ।
dhanyā cha vasudhā dēvi yatra syādgurubhaktatā ॥ 258 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
हे देवी! जिसकी संतान में गुरु-भक्ति होती है, उसकी माता धन्य, पिता धन्य, गोत्र धन्य और कुल धन्य होता है। जिस पृथ्वी पर ऐसी गुरु-भक्ति होती है, वह भी धन्य है।

English Meaning:
O Devi, blessed are the mother, father, lineage and family of one who possesses devotion to the Guru. Blessed too is the earth upon which such devotion exists.

श्लोक 259

ākalpajanma kōṭīnāṃ yajñavratatapaḥ kriyāḥ ।
tāḥ sarvāḥ saphalā dēvi gurūsantōṣamātrataḥ ॥ 259 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
हे देवी! करोड़ों जन्मों तक किए गए यज्ञ, व्रत और तप की समस्त साधनाएँ केवल गुरु की प्रसन्नता से ही सफल हो जाती हैं।

English Meaning:
O Devi, the sacrifices, vows and austerities performed throughout millions of births become fruitful merely through the satisfaction and grace of the Guru.

श्लोक 260

śarīramindriyaṃ prāṇamarthaṃ svajanabandhutā ।
mātṛkulaṃ pitṛkulaṃ gururēva na saṃśayaḥ ॥ 260 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
शरीर, इंद्रियाँ, प्राण, धन, स्वजन और बंधु, मातृकुल तथा पितृकुल—इन सबके मूल कल्याणकारी आधार के रूप में गुरु ही हैं; इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं।

English Meaning:
The body, senses, life-force, wealth, relatives, maternal and paternal families—all are ultimately supported and blessed through the Guru; there is no doubt about this.

श्लोक 261

mandabhāgyā hyaśaktāścha yē janā nānumanvatē ।
gurusēvāsu vimukhāḥ pachyantē narakē’śuchau ॥ 261 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
जो दुर्भाग्यवश गुरु-सेवा के महत्व को नहीं समझते और उससे विमुख रहते हैं, वे अशुद्ध नरक में कष्ट भोगते हैं—ऐसा कहा गया है।

English Meaning:
Those who, through misfortune or weakness, fail to understand the importance of serving the Guru and turn away from it are said to suffer in impure states of existence.

श्लोक 262

vidyā dhanaṃ balaṃ chaiva tēṣāṃ bhāgyaṃ nirarthakam ।
yēṣāṃ gurūkṛpā nāsti adhō gachChanti pārvati ॥ 262 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
जिन पर गुरु की कृपा नहीं है, उनकी विद्या, धन, शक्ति और भाग्य भी निष्फल हो जाते हैं। हे पार्वती! वे आध्यात्मिक रूप से अधोगति को प्राप्त होते हैं।

English Meaning:
For those who lack the Guru’s grace, learning, wealth, strength and fortune become spiritually fruitless. O Parvati, they fall into a lower state.

श्लोक 263

brahmā viṣṇuścha rudraścha dēvāścha pitṛkinnarāḥ ।
siddhachāraṇayakṣāścha anyē cha munayō janāḥ ॥ 263 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
ब्रह्मा, विष्णु, रुद्र, देवता, पितर, किन्नर, सिद्ध, चारण, यक्ष तथा अन्य मुनि और महान प्राणी भी गुरु-तत्त्व की महिमा से जुड़े हुए माने गए हैं।

English Meaning:
Brahma, Vishnu, Rudra, the gods, ancestors, Kinnaras, Siddhas, Charanas, Yakshas, sages and other exalted beings are all described in relation to the greatness of the Guru principle.

श्लोक 264

gurubhāvaḥ paraṃ tīrthamanyatīrthaṃ nirarthakam ।
sarvatīrthamayaṃ dēvi śrīgurōścharaṇāmbujam ॥ 264 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
गुरु-भाव ही परम तीर्थ है; उसके सामने अन्य तीर्थ भी तुच्छ माने गए हैं। हे देवी! श्रीगुरु के चरण-कमल सभी तीर्थों का स्वरूप हैं।

English Meaning:
Guru-bhava is the supreme pilgrimage; compared with it, other pilgrimages are secondary. O Devi, the lotus feet of Sri Guru embody all sacred places of pilgrimage.

श्लोक 265

kanyābhōgaratā mandāḥ svakāntāyāḥ parāṅmukhāḥ ।
ataḥ paraṃ mayā dēvi kathitaṃ na mama priyē ॥ 265 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
हे देवी! जो लोग विषयभोग में आसक्त, विवेकहीन और अपने उचित कर्तव्य से विमुख हैं, उनके लिए आगे इस गूढ़ विषय का वर्णन करना उचित नहीं है।

English Meaning:
O Devi, those who are foolishly attached to sensual pleasures and turned away from their rightful duties are not fit to receive the further exposition of this profound teaching.

श्लोक 266

idaṃ rahasyamaspaṣṭaṃ vaktavyaṃ cha varānanē ।
sugōpyaṃ cha tavāgrē tu mamātmaprītayē sati ॥ 266 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
हे सुंदर मुख वाली! यह अत्यंत गूढ़ रहस्य है। इसे उचित पात्र के सामने ही कहना चाहिए और मेरी आत्मिक प्रसन्नता के लिए इसे तुम्हारे सामने सुरक्षित रूप से प्रकट किया जा रहा है।

English Meaning:
O beautiful-faced one, this is a very profound secret. It should be spoken only to a worthy person, and I reveal it before you as an expression of my inner grace and delight.

श्लोक 267

svāmimukhyagaṇēśādyān vaiṣṇavādīṃścha pārvati ।
na vaktavyaṃ mahāmāyē pādasparśaṃ kuruṣva mē ॥ 267 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
हे पार्वती, हे महामाये! इस रहस्य को स्वामी, गणेश आदि अथवा विभिन्न संप्रदायों के लोगों के सामने नहीं कहना चाहिए। अब मेरे चरणों का स्पर्श करो।

English Meaning:
O Parvati, O Mahamaya, this secret should not be disclosed indiscriminately, including to various persons or sectarian groups. Now, touch my feet with reverence.

श्लोक 268

abhaktē vañchakē dhūrtē pāṣaṇḍē nāstikādiṣu ।
manasā’pi na vaktavyā gurugītā kadāchana ॥ 268 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
गुरुगीता को अभक्त, धोखेबाज, धूर्त, पाखंडी और नास्तिक आदि व्यक्तियों के सामने कभी नहीं कहना चाहिए; मन में भी ऐसे अयोग्य व्यक्तियों के लिए इसका अनुचित प्रचार नहीं करना चाहिए।

English Meaning:
The Guru Gita should never be taught to the faithless, deceitful, cunning, hypocritical or atheistic, nor should it be casually disclosed to such unqualified persons.

श्लोक 269

guravō bahavaḥ santi śiṣyavittāpahārakāḥ ।
tamēkaṃ durlabhaṃ manyē śiṣyahṛttāpahārakam ॥ 269 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
ऐसे अनेक गुरु हैं जो शिष्यों का धन लेते हैं; लेकिन जो शिष्य के हृदय के दुःख और अज्ञान को दूर करता है, ऐसा गुरु अत्यंत दुर्लभ है।

English Meaning:
There are many teachers who take wealth from their disciples, but a Guru who removes the suffering and ignorance from a disciple’s heart is exceedingly rare.

श्लोक 270

chāturyavān vivēkī cha adhyātmajñānavān śuchiḥ ।
mānasaṃ nirmalaṃ yasya gurutvaṃ tasya śōbhatē ॥ 270 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
जो कुशल, विवेकी, अध्यात्मज्ञान से संपन्न और पवित्र हो तथा जिसका मन निर्मल हो, उसी में गुरु-पद शोभा पाता है।

English Meaning:
True Guruship shines in one who is capable, discerning, spiritually knowledgeable and pure, whose mind is completely free from impurity.

श्लोक 271

guravō nirmalāḥ śāntāḥ sādhavō mitabhāṣiṇaḥ ।
kāmakrōdhavinirmuktāḥ sadāchārāḥ jitēndriyāḥ ॥ 271 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
सच्चे गुरु निर्मल, शांत, साधु-स्वभाव वाले और मितभाषी होते हैं। वे काम और क्रोध से मुक्त, सदाचारी तथा इंद्रियों पर विजय प्राप्त किए हुए होते हैं।

English Meaning:
True Gurus are pure, peaceful, virtuous and restrained in speech. They are free from lust and anger, established in righteous conduct and masters of their senses.

श्लोक 272

sūchakādiprabhēdēna guravō bahudhā smṛtāḥ ।
svayaṃ samyak parīkṣyātha tattvaniṣṭhaṃ bhajētsudhīḥ ॥ 272 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
सूचक आदि विभिन्न भेदों के अनुसार गुरु अनेक प्रकार के बताए गए हैं। इसलिए बुद्धिमान साधक को स्वयं अच्छी तरह परीक्षा करके तत्त्व में स्थित गुरु की शरण ग्रहण करनी चाहिए।

English Meaning:
Gurus are described as being of many types, beginning with the “Suchaka” and others. Therefore, a wise seeker should carefully examine them and follow one who is firmly established in Truth.

श्लोक 273

varṇajālamidaṃ tadvadbāhyaśāstraṃ tu laukikam ।
yasmin dēvi samabhyastaṃ sa guruḥ suchakaḥ smṛtaḥ ॥ 273 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
हे देवी! जो गुरु बाहरी और लौकिक शास्त्रों तथा अक्षरों और उनके ज्ञान का शिक्षण कराते हैं, उन्हें “सूचक गुरु” कहा गया है।

English Meaning:
O Devi, a teacher who instructs in letters and external worldly scriptures is known as a “Suchaka Guru.”

श्लोक 274

varṇāśramōchitāṃ vidyāṃ dharmādharmavidhāyinīm ।
pravaktāraṃ guruṃ viddhi vāchakaṃ tviti pārvati ॥ 274 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
हे पार्वती! जो वर्ण और आश्रम के अनुसार उचित विद्याओं तथा धर्म-अधर्म का विवेचन करने वाली शिक्षाओं का उपदेश देते हैं, उन्हें “वाचक गुरु” जानो।

English Meaning:
O Parvati, know the teacher who explains the knowledge appropriate to one’s social and spiritual stage and teaches the distinction between dharma and adharma as the “Vachaka Guru.”

श्लोक 275

pañchākṣaryādimantrāṇāmupadēṣṭā tu pārvati ।
sa gururbōdhakō bhūyādubhayōrayamuttamaḥ ॥ 275 ॥

हे पार्वती! जो पंचाक्षरी आदि मंत्रों का उपदेश देते हैं, वे “बोधक गुरु” कहलाते हैं। ये पहले दोनों प्रकार के गुरुओं से श्रेष्ठ माने गए हैं।

English Meaning:
O Parvati, the Guru who initiates one into mantras such as the Panchakshari is called the “Bodhaka Guru.” Such a Guru is considered superior to the preceding two types.

श्लोक 276

mōhamāraṇavaśyādituchChamantrōpadēśinam ।
niṣiddhagururityāhuḥ paṇḍitāstattvadarśinaḥ ॥ 276 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
जो मोह, मारण, वशीकरण आदि तुच्छ या अनुचित प्रयोजनों वाले मंत्रों का उपदेश देता है, उसे तत्त्वदर्शी विद्वान “निषिद्ध गुरु” कहते हैं।

English Meaning:
A teacher who instructs in trivial or harmful practices such as delusion, destructive rites or subjugation is called a “Nishiddha Guru” by those who understand the higher Truth.

श्लोक 277

anityamiti nirdiśya saṃsāraṃ saṅkaṭālayam ।
vairāgyapathadarśī yaḥ sa gururvihitaḥ priyē ॥ 277 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
जो संसार को अनित्य और दुःखों का घर बताकर साधक को वैराग्य के मार्ग का दर्शन कराते हैं, वे गुरु कहलाते हैं।

English Meaning:
One who teaches that worldly existence is impermanent and full of difficulties and shows the seeker the path of dispassion is regarded as a Guru.

श्लोक 278

tattvamasyādivākyānāmupadēṣṭā tu pārvati ।
kāraṇākhyō guruḥ prōktō bhavarōganivārakaḥ ॥ 278 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
हे पार्वती! जो “तत्त्वमसि” आदि महावाक्यों का उपदेश देते हैं, उन्हें “कारण गुरु” कहा गया है। वे संसाररूपी रोग को दूर करने वाले हैं।

English Meaning:
O Parvati, the Guru who teaches the great sayings such as “Tat Tvam Asi” is called the “Karana Guru.” He removes the disease of worldly existence.

श्लोक 279

sarvasandēhasandōhanirmūlanavichakṣaṇaḥ ।
janmamṛtyubhayaghnō yaḥ sa guruḥ paramō mataḥ ॥ 279 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
जो सभी संदेहों के समूह का पूर्ण नाश करने में कुशल हैं और जन्म-मृत्यु के भय को समाप्त करते हैं, वे परम गुरु माने गए हैं।

English Meaning:
The supreme Guru is one who is skilled in completely destroying all doubts and who removes the fear of birth and death.

श्लोक 280

bahujanmakṛtāt puṇyāllabhyatē’sau mahāguruḥ ।
labdhvā’muṃ na punaryāti śiṣyaḥ saṃsārabandhanam ॥ 280 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
अनेक जन्मों के संचित पुण्य से ऐसे महागुरु की प्राप्ति होती है। उन्हें प्राप्त कर लेने के बाद शिष्य पुनः संसार के बंधन में नहीं पड़ता।

English Meaning:
Such a Mahaguru is attained through the merit accumulated over many births. Having found Him, the disciple does not return to the bondage of worldly existence.

श्लोक 281

ēvaṃ bahuvidhā lōkē guravaḥ santi pārvati ।
tēṣu sarvaprayatnēna sēvyō hi paramō guruḥ ॥ 281 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
हे पार्वती! संसार में इस प्रकार अनेक प्रकार के गुरु होते हैं। उन सबमें पूर्ण प्रयासपूर्वक परम गुरु की ही सेवा और शरण ग्रहण करनी चाहिए।

English Meaning:
O Parvati, there are many kinds of teachers in the world. Among them, one should make every effort to serve and take refuge in the supreme Guru.

श्लोक 282

niṣiddhaguruśiṣyastu duṣṭasaṅkalpadūṣitaḥ ।
brahmapraḻayaparyantaṃ na punaryāti martyatām ॥ 282 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
निषिद्ध गुरु का शिष्य दुष्ट संकल्पों से दूषित हो जाता है और ब्रह्मा के प्रलय तक पुनः मनुष्य जन्म प्राप्त नहीं करता—ऐसा कहा गया है।

English Meaning:
A disciple of a forbidden or unworthy Guru, corrupted by harmful intentions, is said not to attain human birth again until the cosmic dissolution.

श्लोक 283

ēvaṃ śrutvā mahādēvī mahādēvavachastathā ।
atyantavihvalamanāḥ śaṅkaraṃ paripṛchChati ॥ 283 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
महादेव के ये वचन सुनकर देवी पार्वती का मन अत्यंत व्याकुल हो गया और उन्होंने भगवान् शंकर से प्रश्न किया।

English Meaning:
Hearing these words of Mahadeva, Goddess Parvati became deeply troubled and questioned Lord Shankara.

श्लोक 284

pārvatyuvācha ।
namastē dēvadēvātra śrōtavyaṃ kiñchidasti mē ।
śrutvā tvadvākyamadhunā bhṛśaṃ syādvihvalaṃ manaḥ ॥ 284 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
पार्वती ने कहा—हे देवों के देव! आपको नमस्कार। मुझे आपसे कुछ पूछना है। अभी आपके वचन सुनकर मेरा मन अत्यंत व्याकुल हो गया है।

English Meaning:
Parvati said: O God of gods, I bow to You. There is something I wish to ask. Having heard Your words, my mind has become deeply troubled.

श्लोक 285

svayaṃ mūḍhā mṛtyubhītāḥ sukṛtādviratiṃ gatāḥ ।
daivānniṣiddhagurugā yadi tēṣāṃ tu kā gatiḥ ॥ 285 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
जो स्वयं अज्ञानी और मृत्यु से भयभीत हैं तथा पुण्यकर्मों से विमुख हो गए हैं, यदि वे दैववश निषिद्ध गुरु की शरण में चले जाएँ, तो उनकी क्या गति होगी?

English Meaning:
Those who are ignorant, afraid of death and have turned away from righteous actions—if by fate they take refuge in an unworthy Guru, what becomes of them?

श्लोक 286

śrī mahādēva uvācha ।
śṛṇu tattvamidaṃ dēvi yadā syādviratō naraḥ ।
tadā’sāvadhikārīti prōchyatē śrutimastakaiḥ ॥ 286 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
श्री महादेव ने कहा—हे देवी! इस तत्त्व को सुनो। जब मनुष्य में संसार से वैराग्य उत्पन्न होता है, तब श्रुतियों के अनुसार उसे इस ज्ञान का अधिकारी कहा जाता है।

English Meaning:
Sri Mahadeva said: O Devi, listen to this Truth. When dispassion toward worldly existence arises in a person, the scriptures declare that he becomes qualified for this teaching.

श्लोक 287

akhaṇḍaikarasaṃ brahma nityamuktaṃ nirāmayam ।
svasmin sandarśitaṃ yēna sa bhavēdasyaṃ dēśikaḥ ॥ 287 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
जो साधक को उसके अपने भीतर अखंड, एकरस, नित्य मुक्त और निर्मल ब्रह्म का साक्षात्कार कराते हैं, वही उसके वास्तविक देशिक अर्थात् आध्यात्मिक गुरु होते हैं।

English Meaning:
The true spiritual teacher is the one who reveals within the disciple the indivisible, homogeneous, eternally free and stainless Brahman.

श्लोक 288

jalānāṃ sāgarō rājā yathā bhavati pārvati ।
gurūṇāṃ tatra sarvēṣāṃ rājā’yaṃ paramō guruḥ ॥ 288 ॥

हे पार्वती! जैसे सभी जलराशियों में समुद्र राजा है, वैसे ही सभी गुरुओं में यह परम गुरु श्रेष्ठ और राजा के समान है।

English Meaning:
O Parvati, just as the ocean is the king among all bodies of water, so this supreme Guru is the foremost and king among all Gurus.

श्लोक 289

mōhādirahitaḥ śāntō nityatṛptō nirāśrayaḥ ।
tṛṇīkṛtabrahmaviṣṇuvaibhavaḥ paramō guruḥ ॥ 289 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
परम गुरु मोह आदि से रहित, शांत, सदा तृप्त और किसी बाहरी आश्रय से रहित होते हैं। वे ब्रह्मा और विष्णु के वैभव को भी तिनके के समान तुच्छ समझते हैं।

English Meaning:
The supreme Guru is free from delusion, peaceful, eternally content and independent of external support. He regards even the grandeur of Brahma and Vishnu as insignificant as a blade of grass.

श्लोक 290

sarvakālavidēśēṣu svatantrō niśchalassukhī ।
akhaṇḍaikarasāsvādatṛptō hi paramō guruḥ ॥ 290 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
परम गुरु सभी काल और स्थानों में स्वतंत्र, अचल और सुखस्वरूप रहते हैं। अखंड एकरस ब्रह्मानंद का अनुभव करके वे पूर्णतः तृप्त रहते हैं।

English Meaning:
The supreme Guru remains independent, steady and blissful in all times and places. Having tasted the indivisible and homogeneous bliss of Reality, He is completely fulfilled.

श्लोक 291

dvaitādvaitavinirmuktaḥ svānubhūtiprakāśavān ।
ajñānāndhatamaśChēttā sarvajñaḥ paramō guruḥ ॥ 291 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
परम गुरु द्वैत और अद्वैत की अवधारणाओं से भी परे, आत्मानुभूति से प्रकाशित और अज्ञानरूपी अंधकार को दूर करने वाले सर्वज्ञ होते हैं।

English Meaning:
The supreme Guru is beyond the concepts of duality and non-duality, illumined by direct Self-realization, the destroyer of the darkness of ignorance and all-knowing.

श्लोक 292

yasya darśanamātrēṇa manasaḥ syāt prasannatā ।
svayaṃ bhūyāt dhṛtiśśāntiḥ sa bhavēt paramō guruḥ ॥ 292 ॥

जिनके दर्शन मात्र से मन प्रसन्न हो जाए और भीतर स्वयं धैर्य तथा शांति उत्पन्न हो जाए, वही परम गुरु हैं।

The supreme Guru is one whose mere presence brings joy to the mind and naturally awakens courage, steadiness and peace within.

श्लोक 293

siddhijālaṃ samālōkya yōgināṃ mantravādinām ।
tuchChākāramanōvṛttiḥ yasyāsau paramō guruḥ ॥ 293 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
योगियों और मंत्रवादियों की अनेक सिद्धियों को देखकर भी जिनके मन में उनके प्रति आकर्षण नहीं होता और जो उन्हें तुच्छ समझते हैं, वही परम गुरु हैं।

English Meaning:
The supreme Guru is one whose mind remains unattached and regards as insignificant the multitude of miraculous attainments displayed by yogis and practitioners of mantras.

श्लोक 294

svaśarīraṃ śavaṃ paśyan tathā svātmānamadvayam ।
yaḥ strīkanakamōhaghnaḥ sa bhavēt paramō guruḥ ॥ 294 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
जो अपने शरीर को नश्वर शव के समान और अपने आत्मस्वरूप को अद्वैत मानते हैं तथा स्त्री और स्वर्ण के प्रति मोह को जीत चुके हैं, वही परम गुरु होते हैं।

English Meaning:
The supreme Guru is one who sees the body as transient like a corpse, knows the Self as non-dual, and has overcome attachment to sensual attraction and gold.

श्लोक 295

maunī vāgmīti tattvajñō dvidhā’bhūchChṛṇu pārvati ।
na kaśchinmaunināṃ lōbhō lōkē’sminbhavati priyē ॥ 295 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
हे पार्वती! तत्त्वज्ञ गुरु दो प्रकार के कहे गए हैं—मौनी और वाग्मी। हे प्रिय! इस संसार में मौनी गुरु को किसी प्रकार का लोभ नहीं होता।

English Meaning:
O Parvati, know that realized Gurus are described in two forms: the silent one and the eloquent one. O beloved, the silent Guru has no greed for anything in this world.

श्लोक 296

vāgmī tūtkaṭasaṃsārasāgarōttāraṇakṣamaḥ ।
yatō’sau saṃśayachChēttā śāstrayuktyanubhūtibhiḥ ॥ 296 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
वाग्मी गुरु प्रबल संसार-सागर से शिष्यों को पार कराने में समर्थ होते हैं, क्योंकि वे शास्त्र, युक्ति और आत्मानुभूति के द्वारा उनके सभी संदेहों को दूर कर देते हैं।

English Meaning:
The eloquent Guru is capable of carrying disciples across the formidable ocean of worldly existence because He removes their doubts through scripture, reasoning and direct realization.

श्लोक 297

gurunāmajapāddēvi bahujanmārjitānyapi ।
pāpāni vilayaṃ yānti nāsti sandēhamaṇvapi ॥ 297 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
हे देवी! गुरु के नाम का जप करने से अनेक जन्मों में संचित पाप भी नष्ट हो जाते हैं। इसमें रत्ती भर भी संदेह नहीं है।

English Meaning:
O Devi, through repetition of the Guru’s name, even sins accumulated over many births are dissolved. There is not the slightest doubt about this.

श्लोक 298

śrīgurōssadṛśaṃ daivaṃ śrīgurōsadṛśaḥ pitā ।
gurudhyānasamaṃ karma nāsti nāsti mahītalē ॥ 298 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
श्रीगुरु के समान कोई देवता नहीं है और श्रीगुरु के समान कोई पिता नहीं है। पृथ्वी पर गुरु के ध्यान के समान कोई श्रेष्ठ साधना नहीं है।

English Meaning:
There is no deity equal to Sri Guru and no father equal to Sri Guru. On earth, there is no spiritual practice equal to meditation upon the Guru.

श्लोक 299

kulaṃ dhanaṃ balaṃ śāstraṃ bāndhavāssōdarā imē ।
maraṇē nōpayujyantē gururēkō hi tārakaḥ ॥ 299 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
कुल, धन, शक्ति, शास्त्र, बंधु और भाई-बंधु मृत्यु के समय किसी काम नहीं आते। केवल गुरु ही संसार-सागर से पार कराने वाले हैं।

English Meaning:
Family, wealth, strength, scriptures, relatives and siblings cannot help at the time of death. The Guru alone is the one who carries the seeker across the ocean of worldly existence.

श्लोक 300

kulamēva pavitraṃ syāt satyaṃ svagurusēvayā ।
tṛptāḥ syussakalā dēvā brahmādyā gurutarpaṇāt ॥ 300 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
अपने गुरु की सेवा से पूरा कुल पवित्र हो जाता है। गुरु को संतुष्ट करने से ब्रह्मा आदि सभी देवता संतुष्ट हो जाते हैं।

English Meaning:
Through service to one’s own Guru, the entire lineage becomes purified. By satisfying the Guru, all the gods, beginning with Brahma, are satisfied.

श्लोक 301

gururēkō hi jānāti svarūpaṃ dēvamavyayam ।
tad​jñānaṃ yatprasādēna nānyathā śāstrakōṭibhiḥ ॥ 301 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
अविनाशी परम देवता के वास्तविक स्वरूप को गुरु ही जानते हैं और अपनी कृपा से उसका ज्ञान प्रदान करते हैं। करोड़ों शास्त्रों के अध्ययन से भी यह ज्ञान केवल स्वयं प्राप्त नहीं हो जाता।

English Meaning:
The Guru alone knows the true nature of the imperishable Divine and, through His grace, reveals that knowledge. It is not attained merely through the study of millions of scriptures.

श्लोक 302

svarūpajñānaśūnyēna kṛtamapyakṛtaṃ bhavēt ।
tapōjapādikaṃ dēvi sakalaṃ bālajalpavat ॥ 302 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
हे देवी! आत्मस्वरूप के ज्ञान से रहित व्यक्ति द्वारा किए गए तप, जप आदि भी निष्फल हो जाते हैं और बालक की निरर्थक बातों के समान माने जाते हैं।

English Meaning:
O Devi, austerities, japa and other practices performed without knowledge of one’s true nature become fruitless, like the meaningless words of a child.

श्लोक 303

śivaṃ kēchiddhariṃ kēchidvidhiṃ kēchittu kēchana ।
śaktiṃ daivamiti jñātvā vivadanti vṛthā narāḥ ॥ 303 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
कुछ लोग शिव को, कुछ हरि को, कुछ ब्रह्मा को और कुछ शक्ति को परम देवता मानकर व्यर्थ ही आपस में विवाद करते हैं।

English Meaning:
Some people regard Shiva, others Hari, others Brahma, and still others Shakti as the supreme Divine, and they argue with one another in vain.

श्लोक 304

na jānanti paraṃ tattvaṃ gurudīkṣāparāṅmukhāḥ ।
bhrāntāḥ paśusamā hyētē svaparijñānavarjitāḥ ॥ 304 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
जो गुरु-दीक्षा से विमुख रहते हैं, वे परम तत्त्व को नहीं जानते। वे भ्रमित रहते हैं और अपने वास्तविक स्वरूप के ज्ञान से रहित होने के कारण पशु के समान माने गए हैं।

English Meaning:
Those who turn away from Guru-initiation do not know the Supreme Reality. Confused and deprived of Self-knowledge, they are compared to animals.

श्लोक 305

tasmātkaivalyasiddhyarthaṃ gurumēva bhajētpriyē ।
guruṃ vinā na jānanti mūḍhāstatparamaṃ padam ॥ 305 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
इसलिए हे प्रिय! कैवल्य की सिद्धि के लिए गुरु की ही भक्ति करनी चाहिए। मूढ़ लोग गुरु के बिना उस परम पद को नहीं जान पाते।

English Meaning:
Therefore, O beloved, one should worship the Guru for the attainment of liberation. The deluded cannot know that supreme state without the Guru.

श्लोक 306

bhidyatē hṛdayagranthiśChidyantē sarvasaṃśayāḥ ।
kṣīyantē sarvakarmāṇi gurōḥ karuṇayā śivē ॥ 306 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
हे शिवे! गुरु की करुणा से हृदय की ग्रंथि टूट जाती है, सभी संदेह छिन्न हो जाते हैं और सभी कर्मों के बंधन क्षीण हो जाते हैं।

English Meaning:
O Devi, through the compassion of the Guru, the knot of the heart is broken, all doubts are severed, and the bondage of karma is dissolved.

श्लोक 307

kṛtāyā gurubhaktēstu vēdaśāstrānusārataḥ ।
muchyatē pātakādghōrāt gurubhaktō viśēṣataḥ ॥ 307 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
वेद और शास्त्रों के अनुसार की गई गुरु-भक्ति से साधक घोर पापों से मुक्त हो जाता है। विशेष रूप से गुरु-भक्त व्यक्ति पापबंधनों से छूट जाता है।

English Meaning:
According to the Vedas and scriptures, devotion to the Guru frees the seeker from grave sins. Especially, one devoted to the Guru becomes released from such bondage.

श्लोक 308

dussaṅgaṃ cha parityajya pāpakarma parityajēt ।
chittachihnamidaṃ yasya tasya dīkṣā vidhīyatē ॥ 308 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
दुष्ट संगति और पापकर्मों का त्याग करना चाहिए। जिसके जीवन में इस त्याग का स्पष्ट चिह्न दिखाई देता है, वही दीक्षा का अधिकारी है।

English Meaning:
One should abandon bad company and sinful actions. Initiation is prescribed for one whose life clearly shows these signs of renunciation.

श्लोक 309

chittatyāganiyuktaścha krōdhagarvavivarjitaḥ ।
dvaitabhāvaparityāgī tasya dīkṣā vidhīyatē ॥ 309 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
जो त्याग में स्थित, क्रोध और अहंकार से रहित तथा द्वैतभाव का परित्याग करने वाला हो, वही दीक्षा का अधिकारी है।

English Meaning:
One who is established in renunciation, free from anger and pride, and who gives up the sense of duality is considered qualified for initiation.

श्लोक 310

ētallakṣaṇayuktatvaṃ sarvabhūtahitē ratam ।
nirmalaṃ jīvitaṃ yasya tasya dīkṣā vidhīyatē ॥ 310 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
जिस व्यक्ति में ये सभी लक्षण हों, जो सभी प्राणियों के हित में लगा रहता हो और जिसका जीवन निर्मल हो, वही दीक्षा का अधिकारी है।

English Meaning:
One who possesses these qualities, delights in the welfare of all beings and leads a pure life is considered qualified for initiation.

श्लोक 311

kriyayā chānvitaṃ pūrvaṃ dīkṣājālaṃ nirūpitam ।
mantradīkṣābhidhaṃ sāṅgōpāṅgaṃ sarvaṃ śivōditam ॥ 311 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
पूर्व में क्रियाओं से युक्त दीक्षा के विभिन्न रूपों का वर्णन किया गया है। मंत्रदीक्षा सहित उसके सभी अंग और उपांग शिव द्वारा बताए गए हैं।

English Meaning:
The various forms of initiation accompanied by ritual actions have been described previously. All the limbs and subsidiary aspects of mantra initiation have been taught by Shiva.

श्लोक 312

kriyayā syādvirahitāṃ gurusāyujyadāyinīm ।
gurudīkṣāṃ vinā kō vā gurutvāchārapālakaḥ ॥ 312 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
जो दीक्षा बाहरी क्रियाओं से रहित होकर गुरु-सायुज्य प्रदान करती है, वही गुरु-दीक्षा है। गुरु-दीक्षा के बिना गुरु-पद के आचरण को कौन निभा सकता है?

English Meaning:
That initiation which, even without external ritual, grants union with the Guru is Guru-diksha. Without Guru-diksha, who can truly uphold the conduct and responsibility of Guruship?

श्लोक 313

śaktō na chāpi śaktō vā daiśikāṅghri samāśrayēt ।
tasya janmāsti saphalaṃ bhōgamōkṣaphalapradam ॥ 313 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
साधक समर्थ हो या असमर्थ, उसे आध्यात्मिक गुरु के चरणों की शरण ग्रहण करनी चाहिए। ऐसा करने से उसका जन्म सफल होता है और उसे भोग तथा मोक्ष दोनों के फल प्राप्त हो सकते हैं।

English Meaning:
Whether capable or incapable, the seeker should take refuge at the feet of the spiritual teacher. Such a life becomes fruitful and can yield both worldly fulfillment and liberation.

श्लोक 314

atyantachittapakvasya śraddhābhaktiyutasya cha ।
pravaktavyamidaṃ dēvi mamātmaprītayē sadā ॥ 314 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
हे देवी! यह उपदेश केवल अत्यंत परिपक्व चित्त, श्रद्धा और भक्ति से युक्त साधक को ही देना चाहिए। इसे सदैव मेरी आत्मिक प्रसन्नता के लिए योग्य पात्र को ही समझाना चाहिए।

English Meaning:
O Devi, this teaching should be imparted only to one whose mind is highly mature and endowed with faith and devotion, and should always be given to a worthy seeker.

श्लोक 315

rahasyaṃ sarvaśāstrēṣu gītāśāstramidaṃ śivē ।
samyakparīkṣya vaktavyaṃ sādhakasya mahātmanaḥ ॥ 315 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
हे शिवे! यह गुरुगीता सभी शास्त्रों का रहस्य है। इसे अच्छी तरह परखकर किसी योग्य, महान साधक को ही समझाना चाहिए।

English Meaning:
O Devi, this Guru Gita is a secret among all scriptures. It should be carefully discerned and taught only to a worthy and spiritually mature seeker.

श्लोक 316

satkarmaparipākāchcha chittaśuddhiścha dhīmataḥ ।
sādhakasyaiva vaktavyā gurugītā prayatnataḥ ॥ 316 ॥

जिस बुद्धिमान साधक के सत्कर्मों से चित्त शुद्ध हो चुका हो, उसी को प्रयासपूर्वक गुरुगीता का उपदेश देना चाहिए।

The Guru Gita should be carefully taught to a wise seeker whose mind has become purified through the maturity of righteous actions.

श्लोक 317

nāstikāya kṛtaghnāya dāmbhikāya śaṭhāya cha ।
abhaktāya vibhaktāya na vāchyēyaṃ kadāchana ॥ 317 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
नास्तिक, कृतघ्न, दंभी, कपटी, अभक्त और भेदभावपूर्ण दृष्टि रखने वाले व्यक्ति को गुरुगीता कभी नहीं बतानी चाहिए।

English Meaning:
The Guru Gita should never be taught to an atheist, an ungrateful or hypocritical person, a deceitful person, one without devotion, or one dominated by divisive thinking.

श्लोक 318

strīlōlupāya mūrkhāya kāmōpahatachētasē ।
nindakāya na vaktavyā gurugītā svabhāvataḥ ॥ 318 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
जो विषयासक्ति में डूबा हुआ, मूर्ख, कामना से पीड़ित या निंदक हो, उसे स्वभावतः गुरुगीता का उपदेश नहीं देना चाहिए।

English Meaning:
The Guru Gita should not be taught to one who is excessively attached to sensual pleasures, foolish, overcome by desire, or habitually critical.

श्लोक 319

sarvapāpapraśamanaṃ sarvōpadravavārakam ।
janmamṛtyuharaṃ dēvi gītāśāstramidaṃ śivē ॥ 319 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
हे देवी! यह गुरुगीता सभी पापों को शांत करने वाली, सभी उपद्रवों को दूर करने वाली और जन्म-मृत्यु के बंधन को समाप्त करने वाली कही गई है।

English Meaning:
O Devi, this sacred Gita of the Guru is said to pacify all sins, ward off all afflictions and remove the bondage of birth and death.

श्लोक 320

śrutisāramidaṃ dēvi sarvamuktaṃ samāsataḥ ।
nānyathā sadgatiḥ puṃsāṃ vinā gurupadaṃ śivē ॥ 320 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
हे देवी! संक्षेप में यह समस्त उपदेश श्रुति का सार है। हे शिवे! गुरु के चरणों की शरण के बिना मनुष्य की सद्गति का अन्य कोई मार्ग नहीं है।

O Devi, in summary, this teaching is the essence of the scriptures. O Devi, without refuge at the Guru’s feet, there is no other path to the highest good.

श्लोक 321

bahujanmakṛtātpāpādayamarthō na rōchatē ।
janmabandhanivṛttyarthaṃ gurumēva bhajētsadā ॥ 321 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
अनेक जन्मों के पापों के कारण यह महान सत्य मनुष्य को रुचिकर नहीं लगता। जन्म-मरण के बंधन से मुक्त होने के लिए सदा गुरु की ही भक्ति करनी चाहिए।

English Meaning:
Because of the sins accumulated through many births, this profound truth may not appeal to a person. To become free from the bondage of birth and death, one should always worship the Guru.

श्लोक 322

ahamēva jagatsarvamahamēva paraṃ padam ।
ētad​jñānaṃ yatō bhūyāttaṃ guruṃ praṇamāmyaham ॥ 322 ॥

Beyond all distinctions and mental alternatives, I alone am the Supreme Reality; this entire moving and unmoving universe rests in Me. The Guru who revealed this secret is alone worthy of supreme reverence.

श्लोक 324

yasyāntaṃ nādimadhyaṃ na hi karacharaṇaṃ nāmagōtraṃ na sūtram ।
nō jātirnaiva varṇō na bhavati puruṣō nō napuṃsō na cha strī ॥ 324 ॥

nākāraṃ nō vikāraṃ na hi janimaraṇaṃ nāsti puṇyaṃ na pāpam ।
nō’tattvaṃ tattvamēkaṃ sahajasamarasaṃ sadguruṃ taṃ namāmi ॥ 325 ॥

गुरु के नाम के समान कोई देवता नहीं, न कोई पिता और न कोई बंधु। गुरु के नाम के समान कोई स्वामी नहीं है और ऐसा परम पद भी अन्यत्र नहीं है।

ēkākṣarapradātāraṃ yō guruṃ naiva manyatē ।

जो उस गुरु का सम्मान नहीं करता जो एकाक्षर परम तत्त्व का उपदेश देता है, उसके लिए शास्त्र में अनेक निम्न योनियों में जन्म लेने की कठोर चेतावनी दी गई है।

gurutyāgādbhavēnmṛtyuḥ mantratyāgāddaridratā ।

गुरु का त्याग मृत्यु के समान संकटकारी, मंत्र का त्याग दरिद्रता का कारण और गुरु-मंत्र का परित्याग रौरव नरक की प्राप्ति का कारण कहा गया है।

śivakrōdhādgurustrātā gurukrōdhāchChivō na hi ।
tasmātsarvaprayatnēna gurōrājñāṃ na laṅghayēt ॥ 343 ॥

शिव के क्रोध से गुरु रक्षा कर सकते हैं, लेकिन गुरु के क्रोध से शिव भी रक्षा नहीं करते। इसलिए हर संभव प्रयास से गुरु की आज्ञा का उल्लंघन नहीं करना चाहिए।

सात करोड़ महान मंत्र भी चित्त में अनेक प्रकार के भ्रम उत्पन्न कर सकते हैं; लेकिन “गुरु” ये दो अक्षर ही एकमात्र महान मंत्र हैं।

ēvamuktvā mahādēvaḥ pārvatīṃ punarabravīt ।

rahasyamidamavyaktaṃ na vadēdyasya kasyachit ॥ 347 ॥

na mṛṣā syādiyaṃ dēvi maduktiḥ satyarūpiṇī ।

हे देवी! मेरे ये वचन असत्य नहीं हैं; वे सत्यस्वरूप हैं। पृथ्वी पर गुरुगीता के समान कोई दूसरा स्तोत्र नहीं है।

O Devi, these words of mine are not false; they embody Truth. Upon this earth there is no hymn equal to the Guru Gita.

श्लोक 349

gurugītāmimāṃ dēvi bhavaduḥkhavināśinīm ।
gurudīkṣāvihīnasya puratō na paṭhēt kvachit ॥ 349 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
हे देवी! इस संसार-दुःख का नाश करने वाली गुरुगीता का पाठ ऐसे व्यक्ति के सामने कभी नहीं करना चाहिए जिसे गुरु-दीक्षा प्राप्त नहीं हुई है।

O Devi, this Guru Gita, which destroys the suffering of worldly existence, should never be recited before one who has not received Guru-diksha.

श्लोक 350

rahasyamatyantarahasyamētanna pāpinā labhyamidaṃ mahēśvari ।
anēkajanmārjitapuṇyapākādgurōstu tattvaṃ labhatē manuṣyaḥ ॥ 350 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ:
हे महेश्वरी! यह अत्यंत गूढ़ रहस्य है और पापी व्यक्ति को सहज ही प्राप्त नहीं होता। अनेक जन्मों में अर्जित पुण्य के परिपक्व होने पर ही मनुष्य गुरु-तत्त्व को प्राप्त करता है।

ajñānatimirāndhasya viṣayākrāntachētasaḥ ।
jñānaprabhāpradānēna prasādaṃ kuru mē prabhō ॥ 352 ॥

हे प्रभो! मैं अज्ञानरूपी अंधकार से अंधा और विषयों से आक्रांत चित्त वाला हूँ। मुझे ज्ञान का प्रकाश प्रदान करके मुझ पर अपनी कृपा कीजिए।

O Lord, I am blinded by the darkness of ignorance and my mind is overwhelmed by worldly objects. Bestow upon me the light of knowledge and grant me Your grace.
