Veda Svasti Vachanam

श्री कृष्ण यजुर्वेद संहितान्तर्गत स्वस्तिवाचनम् (Śrī Kṛṣṇa Yajurveda Saṃhitāntargatīya Svastivāchanam)
A sacred benediction prayer from the Sri Krishna Yajurveda Samhita, invoking divine protection, strength, victory, and auspiciousness.

आशुश्शिशानो वृषभो न युद्ध्मो घनाघनः, क्षोभणश्चर्षणीनाम् ।
सङ्क्रन्दनोऽनिमिष एकवीरः शतं सेनाः अजयत् साकमिन्द्रः ॥
सङ्क्रन्दनेनानिमिषेण जिष्णुना युत्कारेण दुश्च्यवनेन धृष्णुना ।
तदिन्द्रेण जयत तत्सहध्वं युधो नर इषुहस्तेन वृष्णा ॥

Like a swift and powerful bull who destroys enemies in battle, Lord Indra, the ever-vigilant and heroic one, conquers hundreds of armies. With the strength of Indra, the victorious and fearless protector, may you overcome all battles and challenges.

स इषुहस्तैः स निषङ्गिभिर्वशी सग्ंस्रष्टा स युध इन्द्रो गणेन ।
सग्ंसृष्टजित्सोमपा बाहुशर्ध्यूर्ध्वधन्वा प्रतिहिताभिरस्ता ॥

That Lord Indra, who carries arrows and weapons, controls and protects the forces of battle. Accompanied by divine powers, he grants victory to those who seek strength and courage.

बृहस्पते परि दीया रथेन रक्षोहा अमित्रान् अप बाधमानः ।
प्रभञ्जन् सेनाः प्रमृणो युधा जयन्नस्माकमेद्ध्यविता रथानाम् ॥

O Brihaspati, move around with your divine chariot, destroy the forces of negativity, defeat enemies, and grant victory and protection to our warriors and endeavors.

गोत्रभिदं गोविदं वज्रबाहुं जयन्तमज्म प्रमृणन्तमोजसा ।
इमं सजाता अनुवीरयध्वमिन्द्रं सखायोऽनु संग्रभध्वम् ॥

Invoke Indra, the breaker of obstacles, the protector of wealth, the wielder of the thunderbolt, and the victorious one. O companions, unite with his divine strength and follow his power.

बलविज्ञायः स्थविरः प्रवीरः सहस्वान् वाजी सहमान उग्रः ।
अभिवीरो अभिसत्वा सहोजा जैत्रमिन्द्र रथमातिष्ठ गोवित् ॥

May Indra, strong, ancient, heroic, powerful, and victorious, mount the triumphant chariot and bless us with courage, strength, and success.

अभि गोत्राणि सहसा गाहमानोऽदायो वीरश्शतमन्युुरिन्द्रः ।
दुश्च्यवनः पृतनाषाड् युद्ध्योऽस्माकं सेना अवतु प्र युत्सु ॥

May Lord Indra, the mighty warrior with immense strength and courage, destroy obstacles and protect our armies and efforts in every struggle.

इन्द्र आसां नेता बृहस्पतिर्दक्षिणा यज्ञः पुर एतु सोमः ।
देवसेनानामभिभञ्जतीनां जयन्तीनां मरुतो यन्त्वग्रे ॥

May Indra lead these divine forces, may Brihaspati guide them, may the sacred power of Soma go before them, and may the Maruts lead the victorious divine armies.

इन्द्रस्य वृष्णो वरुणस्य राज्ञ आदित्यानां मरुतां शर्ध उग्रम् ।
महामनसां भुवनच्यवानां घोषो देवानां जयतामुदस्थात् ॥

May the powerful forces of Indra, Varuna, the Adityas, and the Maruts rise with great strength. May the victorious sound of the divine beings spread everywhere.

अस्माकमिन्द्रः समृतेषु ध्वजेष्वस्माकं या इषवस्ता जयन्तु ।
अस्माकं वीरा उत्तरे भवन्त्वस्मानु देवाः अवता हवेषु ॥

May Indra stand with us in battles, may our weapons achieve victory, may our heroes rise above challenges, and may the gods protect us during our prayers and efforts.

उद्धर्षय मघवन्नायुधान्युत्सत्वनां मामकानां महांसि ।
उद्वृत्रहन् वाजिनां वाजिनानि उद्रथानां जयतामेतु घोषः ॥

O mighty Indra, raise the weapons and strength of our warriors. O destroyer of Vritra, awaken the power of those who fight with courage. May the sound of victorious chariots and heroes spread everywhere.

उप प्रेत जयता नरः स्थिरा वः सन्तु बाहवः ।
इन्द्रो वः शर्म यच्छत्वनाधृष्या यथासथ ॥

O brave people, move forward and achieve victory. May your arms remain strong and steady. May Indra grant you protection and make you fearless and unconquerable.

अवसृष्टा परा पत शरव्ये ब्रह्म संशिता ।
गच्छामित्रान् प्रविश मैषां कञ्चनोच्छिषः ॥

O arrow empowered by sacred prayers, fly forth and destroy the enemies. Enter among the opponents and leave none of their harmful intentions remaining.

मर्माणि ते वर्मभिश्छादयामि सोमस्त्वा राजा अमृतेनाभिवस्ताम् ।
उरोरवरीयो वरिवस्ते अस्तु जयन्तं त्वामनु मदन्तु देवाः ॥

I cover your vital parts with protective armor. May King Soma surround you with immortality. May you receive wide protection and may the gods rejoice in your victory.

यत्र बाणाः सम्पतन्ति कुमाराः विशिखा इव ।
इन्द्रो नस्तत्र वृत्रहा विश्वाहा शर्म यच्छतु ॥

Where arrows fly like sharp weapons, may Indra, the destroyer of obstacles, always grant us protection and safety.

जीमूतस्येव भवति प्रतीकं यद्वर्मी याति समदामुपस्थे ।
अनाविद्धया तनुवा जय त्वं स त्वा वर्मणो महिमा पिपर्तु ॥

Like a cloud approaching with power, may the warrior wearing armor move forward in battle. May the strength and glory of this armor protect and lead you to victory.

धन्वना गा धन्वनाजिं जयेम धन्वना तीव्राः समदो जयेम ।
धनुश्शत्रोरपकामं कृणोति धन्वना सर्वाः प्रदिशो जयेम ॥

May we win wealth and battles through the power of the bow. May we overcome fierce struggles with courage. May the bow remove the desires of enemies and help us conquer all directions.

वक्ष्यन्तीवेदागनीगन्ति कर्णं प्रियं सखायमपरिषस्वजानाः ।
योषेव शिङ्क्ते वितताधि धन्वन् ज्येयं समने पारयन्ती ॥

The bowstring speaks like a loving companion near the ear. Like a devoted woman embracing her beloved, it stretches upon the bow and carries the warrior toward victory.

ते आचरन्ती समनेव योषा मातेव पुत्रं बिभृतामुपस्थे ।
अप शत्रून् विध्यतां संविदाने आर्त्नी इमे विस्फुरन्ती अमित्रान् ॥

May the bow and arrows move together like a mother caring for her child. May these weapons strike down enemies and overcome all hostile forces.

बह्वीनां पिता बहुरस्य पुत्रश्चिश्ना कृणोति समानाऽवगत्य ।
इषुधिः सङ्काः पृतनाश्च सर्वाः पृष्ठे निबद्धो जयति प्रसूतः ॥

The quiver holds many arrows like a father with many sons. The warrior carrying it becomes victorious, supported by all weapons and forces.

रथे तिष्ठन्नयति वाजिनः पुरो यत्रयत्र कामयते सुषारथिः ।
अभीशूनां महिमानं पनायत मनः पश्चादनु यच्छन्ति रश्मयः ॥

Standing upon the chariot, the skilled charioteer guides the powerful horses wherever desired. The greatness of the reins directs the mind and controls the movement of the forces.

तीव्रान्घोषान् कृण्वते वृषपाणयोऽश्वा रथेभिः सह वाजयन्तः ।
अवक्रामन्तः प्रपदैरमित्रान् क्षिणन्ति शत्रून्गं रणपव्ययन्तः ॥

The mighty warriors, holding powerful weapons, create fierce sounds as their horses move with chariots. Advancing with strength, they overcome enemies and destroy hostile forces in battle.

रथवाहनं हविरस्य नाम यत्रायुधं निहितमस्य वर्म ।
तत्र रथमुप शग्मं सदेम विश्वाहा वयं सुमनस्यमानाः ॥

May we approach the sacred chariot that carries the offering and where the weapons and armor are placed. May we always remain there with peaceful minds and divine blessings.

स्वादुषदः पितरो वयोधाः कृच्छ्रेश्रितः शक्तीवन्तो गभीराः ।
चित्रसेना इषुबलाः अमृध्राः सतवीरा उरवो व्रातसाहाः ॥

May the ancestral powers and protectors grant us strength, courage, and victory. May our armies be powerful, fearless, and capable of overcoming all challenges.

ब्राह्मणासः पितरः सोम्यासः शिवे नो द्यावापृथिवी अनेहसा ।
पूषा नः पातु दुरितादृतावृधो रक्षामाकिर्नो अघशंस ईशत ॥

May the wise Brahmanas and blessed ancestors protect us. May Heaven and Earth grant us peace. May Pushan protect us from difficulties and may no harmful force overcome us.

सुपर्णं वस्ते मृगो अस्य दन्तो गोभिः सन्नद्धा पतति प्रसूता ।
यत्र नरः सञ्च वि च द्रवन्ति तत्रास्मभ्यमिषवः शर्म यंसन् ॥

Like a divine bird with shining power, the weapon moves swiftly. Wherever people gather and conflicts arise, may our arrows bring protection and victory.

ऋजीते परि वृङ्ग्धि नोऽश्मा भवतु नस्तनूः ।
सोमो अधि ब्रवीतु नोऽदितिः शर्म यच्छतु ॥

Protect us completely and make our bodies strong like stone. May Soma and Aditi bless us with peace, safety, and divine protection.

आजङ्घन्ति सान्वेषां जघनां उप जिघ्नते ।
अश्वाजनि प्रचेतसोऽश्वान् समत्सु चोदय ॥

May the powerful forces strike down obstacles and inspire the horses of wisdom and strength during battles and challenges.

अहिरिव भोगैः पर्येति बाहुं ज्याया हेतिं परिबाधमानः ।
हस्तघ्नो विश्वा वयुनानि विद्वान् पुमान् पुमांसं परि पातु विश्वतः ॥

Like a serpent moving with strength, may the warrior’s arm protect against harmful forces. May the skilled and courageous person protect everyone from all directions.

वनस्पते वीड्वङ्गो हि भूया अस्मत्सखा प्रतरणः सुवीरः ।
गोभिः सन्नद्धो असि वीडयस्वा आस्थाता ते जयतु जेत्वानि ॥

O sacred weapon made from the tree, become strong and victorious. Be our companion and help us cross difficulties. May the one who holds you achieve victory.

दिवः पृथिव्याः पर्योज उद्भृतं वनस्पतिभ्यः पर्याभृतं सहः ।
अपामोज्मानं परि गोभिरावृतमिन्द्रस्य वज्रं हविषा रथं यज ॥

The strength gathered from Heaven, Earth, and sacred trees represents divine power. May this force, like Indra’s thunderbolt, be honored through sacred offerings.

इन्द्रस्य वज्रो मरुतामनीकं मित्रस्य गर्भो वरुणस्य नाभिः ।
सेमां नो हव्यदातिञ्जुषाणो देव रथ प्रति हव्या गृहभाय ॥

This divine weapon is the power of Indra, the strength of the Maruts, the essence of Mitra, and the center of Varuna. May the divine chariot accept our offerings and bless us.

उप श्वासय पृथिवीमुत द्यां पुरुत्रा ते मनुतां विष्टितं जगत् ।
स दुन्दुभे सजूरिन्द्रेण देवैर्दूरादपसेध शत्रून् ॥

O sacred drum, resound and awaken the Earth and Heaven. May all beings recognize your power. Together with Indra and the gods, drive away enemies from afar.

आ क्रन्दय बलमोजो न आ धा निष्टनिहि दुरिता बाधमानः ।
अप प्रोत्थ दुन्दुभे दुच्छुनां इत इन्द्रस्य मुष्टिरसि वीडयस्व ॥

O divine drum, proclaim strength and courage. Remove all difficulties and harmful forces. You are held by Indra’s powerful hand; spread victory and protection.

आ मूरज प्रत्या वर्तयेमाः केतुमद् दुन्दुभिर्वावदीति ।
समश्वपर्णाश्चरन्ति नो नरोऽस्माकमिन्द्र रथिनो जयन्तु ॥

O sacred drum, return with victorious energy and announce our success. May our warriors move with the speed and strength of horses and may our chariot warriors achieve victory with the blessings of Indra.

ममाग्ने वर्चो विहवेष्वस्तु वयं त्वेन्धाना स्तनुवं पुषेम ।
मह्यन्नमन्ताम् प्रदिशश्चतस्रस्त्वयाध्यक्षेण पृतना जयेम ॥

O Agni, may I possess brilliance and strength in all challenges. May we grow in power through your divine energy and may we conquer all directions and battles under your guidance.

मम देवाः विहवे सन्तु सर्व इन्द्रावन्तो मरुतो विष्णुरग्निः ।
ममान्तरिक्षमुरु गोपमस्तु मह्यं वातः पवताङ्कामे अस्मिन् ॥

May all the gods, including Indra, the Maruts, Vishnu, and Agni, be present with me. May the vast sky protect me, and may the wind bring blessings and fulfillment of my desires.

मयि देवाः द्रविणमायजन्तां मय्याशीः अस्तु मयि देवहूतिः ।
दैव्या होतारा वनिषन्त पूर्वेऽरिष्टाः स्याम तनुवा सुवीराः ॥

May the gods grant me prosperity, blessings, and divine grace. May the sacred invokers bless us, and may we remain protected, healthy, and blessed with heroic strength.

मह्यं यजन्तु मम यानि हव्या आकूतिः सत्याः मनसो मे अस्तु ।
एनो मा निगाङ्कतमच्च नाहं विश्वे देवासो अधिवोच ता मे ॥

May the gods accept my offerings and sacrifices. May my intentions be truthful and pure. May I remain free from sin, and may all divine beings bless me.

देवीः षडुर्वीरुरुणः कृणोत विश्वे देवा स इह वीरयध्वम् ।
मा हास्महि प्रजया मा तनूभिर्मा रधाम द्विषते सोम राजन् ॥

O divine powers, grant us vast protection and strength. May all gods bless us with courage. O Soma, may we never lose our children, our bodies, or our prosperity.

अग्निर्मन्युं प्रतिनुदन् पुरस्ताददब्धो गोपाः परिपाहि नस्त्वम् ।
प्रत्यञ्चो यन्तु निगुतः पुनस्तेऽमैषां चित्तं प्रतिबुधा विनेशत् ॥

May Agni remove anger and negativity before us. O protector, guard us without fail. May harmful thoughts return to their source and disappear completely.

धाता धातॄणां भुवनस्य यस्पतिर्देवं सवितारमभि मातिषाहम् ।
इमं यज्ञमश्विनोभा बृहस्पतिर्देवाः पान्तु यजमानं न्यर्थात् ॥

May Dhata, the sustainer of creation, Savita, the Ashvins, Brihaspati, and all the gods protect this sacred offering and the performer of the ritual from all harm.

उरुव्यचा नो महिषः शर्म यंसदस्मिन् हवॆ पुरुहूतः पुरुक्षु ।
स नः प्रजायै हर्यश्व मृडयेन्द्र मा नो रीरीषो मा परा दाः ॥

May the mighty and widely praised Indra grant us protection and happiness. O Indra, bless our children and prosperity, and never abandon or harm us.

ये नः सपत्नाः अप ते भवन्त्विन्द्राग्निभ्यामव बाधामहे तान् ।
वसवो रुद्रा आदित्या उपरि स्पृशं मोघ्रं छेत्तारमधि राजमक्रन् ॥

May those who oppose us be removed. With the help of Indra and Agni, may we overcome all enemies. May the Vasus, Rudras, and Adityas protect us and establish divine order.

अर्वाञ्चमिन्द्रममुतो हवामहे यो गोजिद्धनजिदश्वजिद्यः ।
इमं नो यज्ञं विहवे जुषस्वास्य कुर्मो हरिवो मेदिनं त्वा ॥

We invoke Indra, the giver of cattle, wealth, and strength. O Lord with golden horses, accept our sacred offering and bless this worship.

अग्नेर्मन्वे प्रथमस्य प्रचेतसो यं पाञ्चजन्यं बहवः समिन्धते ।
विश्वस्यां विशि प्रविविशिवांसं समीमहे स नो मुञ्चत्वंहसः ॥

We meditate upon Agni, the first divine wisdom, who is worshipped by many. May that all-pervading divine fire free us from all sins and difficulties.

यस्येदं प्राणन्निमिषद्यदेजति यस्य जातं जनमानं च केवलम् ।
स्तोम्यग्निं नाथितो जोहवीमि स नो मुञ्चत्वंहसः ॥

The One who governs all life, movement, and creation is worshipped through Agni. May this divine power release us from all faults and suffering.
