sāṃsidḥdhyamakṣṇōstava darśanānnaḥ ।
yaddarśanaṃ janmabhirīḍya sadbhi-
rāśāsatē yōginō rūḍhayōgāḥ ॥ 13 ॥
The sage said: O Lord, today our eyes have achieved complete fulfillment
by receiving Your divine vision. Great yogis who are firmly established
in spiritual realization have long desired this sacred sight of You
through many births.
yē māyayā tē hatamēdhasastva-
tpādāravindaṃ bhavasindhupōtam ।
upāsatē kāmalavāya tēṣāṃ
rāsīśa kāmānnirayē’pi yē syuḥ ॥ 14 ॥
Those whose intelligence is covered by Your external energy worship
Your lotus feet only to fulfill material desires. O Lord of all beings,
even if such desires are fulfilled, they are insignificant compared to
the eternal happiness of devotion.
tathā sa chāhaṃ parivōḍhukāmaḥ
samānaśīlāṃ gṛhamēdhadhēnum ।
upēyivān mūlamaśēṣamūlaṃ
durāśayaḥ kāmadughāṅghripasya ॥ 15 ॥
In the same way, I too desired a suitable wife and entered household
life seeking worldly fulfillment. Because of my limited understanding,
I approached the root cause of all existence, Your lotus feet, with
material expectations.
prajāpatēstē vachasādhīśa tantyā
lōkaḥ kilāyaṃ kāmahatō’nubaddhaḥ ।
ahaṃ cha lōkānugatō vahāmi
baliṃ cha śuklānimiṣāya tubhyam ॥ 16 ॥
O Supreme Lord, by the instructions given by Brahmā, the creator,
this world remains bound by the influence of desires. Following the
ways of the world, I also offer my respectful worship and surrender
unto You, the eternal and pure Lord.
lōkāṃścha lōkānugatān paśūṃścha
hitvā śritāstē charaṇātapatram ।
parasparaṃ tvadguṇavādasīdhu-
pīyūṣaniryāpitadēhadharmāḥ ॥ 17 ॥
Those who have taken shelter of Your lotus feet, which are like a
protective umbrella, abandon attachment to worldly pleasures,
society and possessions. They become absorbed in the nectar of
discussing Your divine qualities and rise beyond bodily limitations.
na tē’jarākṣabhramirāyurēṣāṃ
trayōdaśāraṃ triśataṃ ṣaṣṭiparva ।
ṣaṇnēmyanantaśchadi yattriṇābhi-
karālasrōtō jagadāchChidya dhāvat ॥ 18 ॥
For those devoted to You, the wheel of material time does not cause
fear. The cycle of time with its divisions, movements and countless
changes destroys the material world, but Your devotees transcend this
flow through divine realization.
ēkaḥ svayaṃ san jagataḥ sisṛkṣayā
dvitīyayā’tmannadhiyōgamāyayā ।
sṛjasyadaḥ pāsi punargrasiṣyasē
yathōrṇanābhirbhagavan svaśaktibhiḥ ॥ 19 ॥
O Lord, You are one without a second, yet through Your own internal
energy You create, maintain and dissolve this universe. Just as a
spider creates and withdraws its web through its own power, You perform
all cosmic activities through Your divine energies.
naitadbatādhīśa padaṃ tavēpsitaṃ
yanmāyayā nastanuṣē bhūtasūkṣmam ।
anugrahāyāstvapi yarhi māyayā
lasattulasyā tanuvā vilakṣitaḥ ॥ 20 ॥
O Supreme Lord, this material form created through Your external energy
is not Your ultimate desired nature. Yet, out of compassion for Your
devotees, You appear in divine forms decorated with sacred symbols and
the fragrance of Tulasi.
taṃ tvānubhūtyōparatakriyārthaṃ
svamāyayā vartitalōkatantram ।
namāmyabhīkṣṇaṃ namanīyapāda-
sarōjamalpīyasi kāmavarṣam ॥ 21 ॥
I repeatedly offer my obeisances to You, whose lotus feet are worthy
of worship. Although You transcend all material activities, You
operate the universe through Your own energy and shower blessings
upon Your devotees.
iti śrīmadbhāgavatamahāpurāṇē

Thus ends the Viṣṇu Stotra composed by Sage Kardama,
found in the Twenty-First Chapter of the Third Canto of
Śrīmad Bhāgavata Mahāpurāṇa.
