हिंदी अर्थ: श्री राम सहस्रनाम स्तोत्र के इस महामंत्र के ऋषि भगवान ईश्वर हैं, छन्द अनुष्टुप है और देवता परमात्मा श्री राम हैं। “श्रीमन् महाविष्णु” इसका बीज है, “गुणभृत् निर्गुणो महान्” इसकी शक्ति है, “संसारतारकः राम” इसका मंत्र है, “सच्चिदानन्दविग्रह” इसका कीलक है। “अक्षयः पुरुषः साक्षी” इसका कवच और “अजेयः सर्वभूतानाम्” इसका अस्त्र है। “राजीवलोचनः श्रीमान्” इसका ध्यान है। श्री राम की प्रसन्नता के लिए दिव्य सहस्रनाम के जप में इसका विनियोग किया जाता है।

English Meaning: For this great mantra of the Sri Rama Sahasranama Stotra, the sage is Bhagavan Ishvara, the meter is Anushtup, and the deity is Sri Rama, the Supreme Self. “Sriman Mahavishnu” is its seed, “Gunabhrit Nirgunah Mahan” its power, “Samsara-taraka Rama” its mantra, and “Sachchidananda Vigraha” its key. “Akshayah Purushah Sakshi” is its protective armor, while “Ajeyah Sarvabhutanam” is its divine weapon. “Rajivalochanah Sriman” is the meditation. It is used for the chanting of the divine thousand names for the pleasure and grace of Sri Rama.

śrīrāghavaṃ daśarathātmajamapramēyaṃ
sītāpatiṃ raghukulānvayaratnadīpam ।
ājānubāhumaravindadalāyatākṣaṃ
rāmaṃ niśācharavināśakaraṃ namāmi ॥

हिंदी अर्थ: मैं श्री राघव को नमन करता हूँ, जो दशरथ के पुत्र, असीम और अगाध स्वरूप वाले, माता सीता के पति तथा रघुकुल के वंश में प्रकाशित रत्न-दीपक हैं। जिनकी भुजाएँ घुटनों तक लंबी हैं, जिनके नेत्र कमलदल के समान विशाल हैं और जो राक्षसों का विनाश करने वाले श्री राम हैं।

English Meaning: I bow to Sri Raghava, the son of Dasharatha, the immeasurable Lord, the husband of Sita and the radiant jewel-lamp of the Raghu dynasty. His arms extend to His knees, His eyes are wide like lotus petals, and He is Sri Rama, the destroyer of the night-roaming demons.

nīlāṃ bhujaśyāmala kōmalāṅgaṃ
sītā samārōpita vāmabhāgam ।
pāṇau mahāsāyaka chāru chāpaṃ
namāmi rāmaṃ raghuvaṃśanātham ॥

हिंदी अर्थ: मैं रघुवंश के स्वामी श्री राम को नमन करता हूँ, जिनका कोमल शरीर नील कमल के समान श्याम है, जिनके बाएँ भाग में सीता विराजमान हैं और जिनके हाथों में महान बाण तथा सुंदर धनुष सुशोभित हैं।

English Meaning: I bow to Sri Rama, the Lord of the Raghu dynasty, whose tender form is dark like a blue lotus, with Sita seated at His left side, and who holds a mighty arrow and beautiful bow in His hands.

lōkābhirāmaṃ raṇaraṅgadhīraṃ
rājīvanētraṃ raghuvaṃśanātham ।
kāruṇyarūpaṃ karuṇākaraṃ taṃ
śrī rāmachandraṃ śaraṇaṃ prapadyē ॥

हिंदी अर्थ: मैं श्री रामचंद्र की शरण ग्रहण करता हूँ, जो समस्त लोकों को आनंद देने वाले, युद्धभूमि में धैर्यवान, कमलनयन, रघुवंश के स्वामी, करुणा के स्वरूप और करुणा के भंडार हैं।

English Meaning: I seek refuge in Sri Ramachandra, who delights all the worlds, is steadfast and courageous on the battlefield, lotus-eyed, Lord of the Raghu dynasty, and the very embodiment and treasure of compassion.

dhyāyēdājānubāhuṃ dhṛtaśaradhanuṣaṃ baddhapadmāsanasthaṃ
pītaṃ vāsō vasānaṃ navakaladaḻaspardhinētraṃ prasannam ।

English Meaning: One should meditate upon Sri Ramachandra, whose arms reach His knees, who holds a bow and arrows and sits in the lotus posture, wearing yellow garments. His serene eyes surpass the beauty of fresh lotus petals. His gaze rests upon the lotus-like face of Sita seated upon His left side. He has the complexion of a raincloud, shines with various ornaments, and bears a majestic mass of matted locks.

nīlāmbhōdarakānti kāntamanuṣaṃ vīrāsanādhyāsinaṃ
mudrāṃ jñānamayīṃ dadhānamaparaṃ hastāmbujaṃ jānuni ।
sītāṃ pārśvagatāṃ sarōruhakarāṃ vidyunnibhāṃ rāghavaṃ
paśyantīṃ mukuṭāṅgadādi vividha kalpōjjvalāṅgaṃ bhajē ॥

हिंदी अर्थ: मैं उस राघव की भक्ति करता हूँ जिनकी मनोहर देह नील मेघ के समान कांति वाली है, जो वीरासन में विराजमान हैं, एक हाथ में ज्ञानमयी मुद्रा धारण करते हैं और दूसरा कमलवत हाथ घुटने पर रखते हैं। उनके समीप सीता विराजमान हैं, जिनके हाथ में कमल है और जिनकी आभा बिजली के समान है। वे सीता राघव को निहार रही हैं, जो मुकुट, अंगद और अनेक दिव्य आभूषणों से प्रकाशित हैं।

English Meaning: I adore Raghava, whose beautiful form shines like a dark raincloud, who is seated in the heroic posture, holding the gesture of divine knowledge in one hand while the other lotus-like hand rests upon His knee. Sita sits beside Him, holding a lotus and shining like lightning, gazing upon Raghava, whose form is radiant with a crown, armlets, and numerous divine ornaments.

rājīvalōchanaḥ śrīmān śrīrāmō raghupuṅgavaḥ ।
rāmabhadraḥ sadāchārō rājēndrō jānakīpatiḥ ॥ 1 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ: श्री राम कमलनयन, श्रीमान, रघुवंश में श्रेष्ठ, रामभद्र, सदाचार के स्वरूप, राजाओं में श्रेष्ठ और जानकी के पति हैं।

English Meaning: Sri Rama is lotus-eyed, glorious, the foremost of the Raghu dynasty, Ramabhadra, the embodiment of righteous conduct, supreme among kings, and the husband of Janaki.

agragaṇyō varēṇyaścha varadaḥ paramēśvaraḥ ।
janārdanō jitāmitraḥ parārthaikaprayōjanaḥ ॥ 2 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ: वे सबसे अग्रगण्य, श्रेष्ठ, वर प्रदान करने वाले, परमेश्वर, जनार्दन, शत्रुओं को जीतने वाले और दूसरों के कल्याण को ही अपने जीवन का उद्देश्य मानने वाले हैं।

English Meaning: He is foremost among all, most excellent, the giver of boons, the Supreme Lord, Janardana, conqueror of enemies, and One whose sole purpose is the welfare of others.

viśvāmitrapriyō dāntaḥ śatrujichChatrutāpanaḥ ।
sarvajñaḥ sarvadēvādiḥ śaraṇyō vālimardanaḥ ॥ 3 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ: वे विश्वामित्र के प्रिय, इंद्रिय-संयमी, शत्रुओं को जीतने और उनका दमन करने वाले, सर्वज्ञ, सभी देवताओं के आदि, शरणागतों के रक्षक और वाली का मर्दन करने वाले हैं।

English Meaning: He is beloved of Vishvamitra, self-controlled, the conqueror and subduer of enemies, omniscient, the source of all the gods, the refuge of those who surrender to Him, and the destroyer of Vali.

jñānabhāvyō’parichChēdyō vāgmī satyavrataḥ śuchiḥ ।
jñānagamyō dṛḍhaprajñaḥ kharadhvaṃsī pratāpavān ॥ 4 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ: वे ज्ञान द्वारा ध्यान करने योग्य, असीम और अविभाज्य, वाणी में निपुण, सत्यव्रती, पवित्र, ज्ञान द्वारा प्राप्त होने वाले, दृढ़ बुद्धि वाले, खर का संहार करने वाले और अत्यंत प्रतापी हैं।

English Meaning: He is contemplated through wisdom, immeasurable and indivisible, eloquent, devoted to truth, pure, attainable through knowledge, firm in wisdom, destroyer of Khara, and supremely glorious.

dyutimānātmavānvīrō jitakrōdhō’rimardanaḥ ।
viśvarūpō viśālākṣaḥ prabhuḥ parivṛḍhō dṛḍhaḥ ॥ 5 ॥

vipulāṃsō mahōraskaḥ paramēṣṭhī parāyaṇaḥ ॥ 6 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ: वे ईश्वर, खड्ग धारण करने वाले, श्रीमान, कौसल्या के पुत्र, दोष-दृष्टि से रहित, विशाल कंधों वाले, विस्तृत वक्षस्थल वाले, परम पद पर स्थित और परम आश्रय हैं।

satyavrataḥ satyasandhō guruḥ paramadhārmikaḥ ।

anādirbhagavān sēvyō jitamāyō raghūdvahaḥ ।

mārīchamathanō rāmō virādhavadhapaṇḍitaḥ ।

mahādhanurmahākāyō bhīmō bhīmaparākramaḥ ।
tattvasvarūpī tattvajñaḥ tattvavādī suvikramaḥ ॥ 25 ॥

हिंदी अर्थ: वे महान धनुष धारण करने वाले, विशाल शरीर वाले, प्रभावशाली, अत्यंत पराक्रमी, तत्त्वस्वरूप, तत्त्वज्ञ, सत्य के उपदेशक और महान पराक्रम वाले हैं।
