Ganesha Ashtakam
Ganesha Ashtakam is the sacred hymn in praise of and as a prayer to Sri Ganesha , who is also worshipped as Gajanana, Vinayaka, Vighneshwara, Ganapati, Ekadanta, Lambodara, and by many other divine names. This devotional hymn glorifies Lord Ganesha as the remover of obstacles, the bestower of wisdom, prosperity, and success, and the deity who is worshipped before the beginning of every auspicious undertaking.
Ganesha Ashtakam consists of eight beautiful verses, each describing the divine form, supreme qualities, boundless compassion, and glorious attributes of Bhagwan Ganesha. Every stanza inspires faith, devotion, and surrender to the Lord. The benefits of chanting this sacred hymn are traditionally cherished by devotees. It is believed that reciting Ganesha Ashtakam with devotion removes obstacles, grants wisdom, brings prosperity, and invites the divine blessings of Lord Ganesha.

॥ अथ श्री गणेशाष्टकम् ॥
श्री गणेशाय नमः।
सर्वे उचुः।
यतोऽनन्तशक्तेरनन्ताश्च जीवायतो निर्गुणादप्रमेया गुणास्ते।
यतो भाति सर्वं त्रिधा भेदभिन्नंसदा तं गणेशं नमामो भजामः॥1॥
Yato Ananta Shakter Anantashcha Jivah Yato Nirgunad Aprameya Gunas Te Yato Bhati Sarvam Tridha Bheda Bhinnam Sada Tam Ganesham Namamo Bhajamah
We always bow to and worship Lord Ganesha, from whom infinite power and countless living beings arise. Though beyond all qualities, He is the source of every divine attribute, and through Him the entire universe appears in its many forms.
यतश्चाविरासीज्जगत्सर्वमेतत्तथाऽब्जासनोविश्वगो विश्वगोप्ता।
तथेन्द्रादयो देवसङ्घा मनुष्याःसदा तं गणेशं नमामो भजामः॥2॥
Yatash Chavirasij Jagat Sarvam Etat Tatha Abjasano Vishvago Vishvagopta Tathendradayo Deva Sangha Manushyah Sada Tam Ganesham Namamo Bhajamah
We always bow to Lord Ganesha, from whom the entire universe has manifested. From Him arise Brahma, the all-pervading protector of the universe, Indra, the hosts of gods, and all human beings.
यतो वह्निभानू भवो भूर्जलं चयतः सागराश्चन्द्रमा व्योम वायुः।
यतः स्थावरा जङ्गमा वृक्षसङ्घासदा तं गणेशं नमामो भजामः॥3॥
Yato Vahni Bhanu Bhavo Bhur Jalam Cha Yatah Sagarash Chandrama Vyoma Vayuh Yatah Sthavara Jangama Vriksha Sanghah Sada Tam Ganesham Namamo Bhajamah
We always bow to Lord Ganesha, from whom come fire, the sun, earth, water, the oceans, the moon, the sky, the wind, all immovable beings, all living creatures, and every variety of tree.
यतो दानवाः किन्नरा यक्षसङ्घायतश्चारणा वारणाः श्वापदाश्च।
यतः पक्षिकीटा यतो वीरूधश्चसदा तं गणेशं नमामो भजामः॥4॥
Yato Danavah Kinnarah Yaksha Sanghah Yatash Charanah Varanah Shvapadash Cha Yatah Pakshi Kita Yato Virudhah Cha Sada Tam Ganesham Namamo Bhajamah
We always bow to Lord Ganesha, from whom originate demons, Kinnaras, Yakshas, celestial beings, elephants, wild animals, birds, insects, and every form of vegetation.
यतो बुद्धिरज्ञाननाशो मुमुक्षोर्यतःसम्पदो भक्तसन्तोषिकाः स्युः।
यतो विघ्ननाशो यतः कार्यसिद्धिःसदा तं गणेशं नमामो भजामः॥5॥
Yato Buddhir Ajnana Nasho Mumukshoh Yatah Sampado Bhakta Santoshikah Syuh Yato Vighna Nasho Yatah Karya Siddhih Sada Tam Ganesham Namamo Bhajamah
We always bow to Lord Ganesha, from whom arise wisdom, the destruction of ignorance, prosperity, the happiness of devotees, the removal of obstacles, and the successful completion of all undertakings.
यतः पुत्रसम्पद्यतो वाञ्छितार्थोयतोऽभक्तविघ्नास्तथाऽनेकरूपाः।
यतः शोकमोहौ यतः काम एवसदा तं गणेशं नमामो भजामः॥6॥
Yatah Putra Sampad Yato Vanchhitarthah Yato Bhakta Vighnas Tatha Aneka Rupah Yatah Shoka Mohau Yatah Kama Eva Sada Tam Ganesham Namamo Bhajamah
We always bow to Lord Ganesha, who grants worthy children, fulfills righteous desires, removes obstacles for His devotees, and is the source and controller of sorrow, delusion, and desire.
यतोऽनन्तशक्तिः स शेषो बभूवधराधारणेऽनेकरूपे च शक्तः।
यतोऽनेकधा स्वर्गलोका हि नानासदा तं गणेशं नमामो भजामः॥7॥
Yato Ananta Shaktih Sa Shesho Babhuva Dhara Dharane Aneka Rupe Cha Shaktah Yato Anekadha Svarga Loka Hi Nana Sada Tam Ganesham Namamo Bhajamah
We always bow to Lord Ganesha, whose infinite power enables Shesha to support the Earth, and from whom arise the many heavenly realms and their countless manifestations.
यतो वेदवाचो विकुण्ठा मनोभिःसदा नेति नेतीति यत्ता गृणन्ति।
परब्रह्मरूपं चिदानन्दभूतंसदा तं गणेशं नमामो भजामः॥8॥
Yato Veda Vacho Vikuntha Manobhih Sada Neti Netiti Yatta Grinanti Parabrahma Rupam Chidananda Bhutam Sada Tam Ganesham Namamo Bhajamah
We always bow to Lord Ganesha, whose true nature is beyond the reach of the Vedas and the mind. The scriptures describe Him only as “Not this, not this.” He is the Supreme Absolute Reality, the embodiment of pure consciousness and eternal bliss.

श्रीगणेश उवाच।
पुनरूचे गणाधीशःस्तोत्रमेतत्पठेन्नरः।
त्रिसन्ध्यं त्रिदिनं तस्यसर्वं कार्यं भविष्यति॥9॥
Shri Ganesha Uvacha Punar Uche Ganadhishah Stotram Etat Pathen Narah Tri Sandhyam Tri Dinam Tasya Sarvam Karyam Bhavishyati
Lord Ganesha said: Whoever recites this hymn three times a day during the three daily Sandhyas for three days will find all their undertakings successfully accomplished.
यो जपेदष्टदिवसंश्लोकाष्टकमिदं शुभम्।
अष्टवारं चतुर्थ्यां तुसोऽष्टसिद्धिरवानप्नुयात्॥10॥
Yo Japed Ashta Divasam Shlokashtakam Idam Shubham Ashta Varam Chaturthyam Tu So Ashta Siddhir Avapnuyat
Whoever chants these eight sacred verses for eight consecutive days, and eight times on Ganesh Chaturthi, attains the eight divine spiritual powers (Ashta Siddhis).
यः पठेन्मासमात्रं तुदशवारं दिने दिने।
स मोचयेद्वन्धगतंराजवध्यं न संशयः॥11॥
Yah Pathen Masa Matram Tu Dasha Varam Dine Dine Sa Mochayed Bandha Gatam Raja Vadhyam Na Samshayah
Whoever recites this hymn ten times daily for one month is freed from imprisonment, severe difficulties, and even grave dangers. There is no doubt about this.
विद्याकामो लभेद्विद्यांपुत्रार्थी पुत्रमाप्नुयात्।
वाञ्छितांल्लभतेसर्वानेकविंशतिवारतः॥12॥
Vidyakamo Labhed Vidyam Putrarthi Putram Apnuyat Vanchhitan Labhate Sarvan Ekavimshati Varatah
One who desires knowledge gains wisdom; one who seeks children is blessed with offspring. By reciting this hymn twenty-one times, a devotee obtains all righteous desires.
यो जपेत्परया भक्तयागजाननपरो नरः।
एवमुक्तवा ततोदेवश्चान्तर्धानं गतः प्रभुः॥13॥
Yo Japet Paraya Bhaktya Gajananaparo Narah Evam Uktva Tato Devash Chantardhanam Gatah Prabhuh
Whoever chants this hymn with supreme devotion to Lord Gajanana receives His divine grace. Having spoken these words, the Lord disappeared from sight.
