English Meaning
The Supreme Being arose from the waters and from the essence of the earth. The Cosmic Architect, Viśvakarma, manifested and established Himself as the source of creation. Tvaṣṭā, the divine craftsman, fashioned His form and brought forth the universal manifestation of the Supreme Person in the beginning. I know that Great and Supreme Person, radiant like the Sun and dwelling beyond all darkness. One who truly knows Him attains immortality here itself; there is no other path to this ultimate realization. Prajāpati moves within the womb and, though unborn, manifests Himself in many forms. The wise recognize His source and seek the supreme abode of the radiant divine beings. 1

English Meaning
He who shines forth for the gods, who is the spiritual guide and priest of the gods, and who existed before the gods came into being—salutations to that radiant Brahman. The gods declared in the beginning that whoever knows this Brahman truly has the divine powers under his spiritual command. For Him, Hrī and Lakṣmī are the two consorts; day and night are His two sides; the stars constitute His form; and the Aśvinī deities are His manifested features. May we attain what is desired, may we attain that which is beyond, and may we attain all that is worthy of attainment. 2
ō-nnamō bhagavatē̍ rudrā̠ya ॥ uttara nārāyaṇagṃ śikhāyai vaṣaṭ ॥
English Meaning
Om. Salutations to the Blessed Lord Rudra. The Uttara Nārāyaṇa section is offered with the sacred utterance “Vaṣaṭ” to the śikhā, the crown or top-knot of the head.
