पूर्वाङ्ग पूजा

श्रीमहागणाधिपतये नमः ।
Salutations to Lord Mahāgaṇādhipati, the great Lord of the divine hosts.

श्री गुरुभ्यो नमः ।
Salutations to the revered Guru.

हरिः ॐ ।
Hariḥ Om — salutations to the Supreme Divine.

शुचिः

अपवित्रः पवित्रो वा सर्वावस्थां गतोऽपि वा ।
यः स्मरेत् पुण्डरीकाक्षं स बाह्याभ्यन्तरः शुचिः ॥
Whether pure or impure, and whatever condition one may be in, whoever remembers the Lotus-Eyed Lord becomes purified both externally and internally.

पुण्डरीकाक्ष पुण्डरीकाक्ष पुण्डरीकाक्षाय नमः ॥
Salutations to the Lotus-Eyed Lord, Puṇḍarīkākṣa.

प्रार्थना

शुक्लाम्बरधरं विष्णुं शशिवर्णं चतुर्भुजम् ।
प्रसन्नवदनं ध्यायेत् सर्वविघ्नोपशान्तये ॥
We meditate upon Lord Viṣṇu, clad in white garments, radiant like the moon, four-armed and serene-faced, for the removal of all obstacles.

अगजानन पद्मार्कं गजाननमहर्‍निशम् ।
अनेकदं तं भक्तानां एकदन्तमुपास्महे ॥
We worship day and night the One-Tusked Elephant-Faced Lord, who bestows many blessings upon His devotees.

तदेव लग्नं सुदिनं तदेव
ताराबलं चन्द्रबलं तदेव ।
विद्याबलं दैवबलं तदेव
लक्ष्मीपते तेऽङ्घ्रियुगं स्मरामि ॥
That alone is the auspicious moment and that alone is the blessed day. That alone is the strength of the stars, the Moon, knowledge and divine grace. O Lord of Lakṣmī, I remember Your sacred pair of feet.

गुरुर्ब्रह्मा गुरुर्विष्णुः गुरुर्‍देवो महेश्वरः ।
गुरुः साक्षात् परब्रह्म तस्मै श्रीगुरवे नमः ॥
The Guru is Brahmā, the Guru is Viṣṇu, and the Guru is Maheshvara. The Guru is verily the Supreme Brahman. Salutations to that revered Guru.

सर्वमङ्गल माङ्गल्ये शिवे सर्वार्थसाधिके ।
शरण्ये त्र्यम्बके गौरि नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥
O Auspicious One among all that is auspicious, O Śivā who fulfills every purpose, O refuge of all, three-eyed Gaurī, O Nārāyaṇī, salutations to You.

श्रीलक्ष्मीनारायणाभ्यां नमः ।
Salutations to Śrī Lakṣmī and Nārāyaṇa.

उमामहेश्वराभ्यां नमः ।
Salutations to Umā and Maheshvara.

वाणीहिरण्यगर्भाभ्यां नमः ।
Salutations to Vāṇī and Hiraṇyagarbha.

शचीपुरन्दराभ्यां नमः ।
Salutations to Śacī and Purandara.

अरुन्धतीवसिष्ठाभ्यां नमः ।
Salutations to Arundhatī and Vasiṣṭha.

श्रीसीतारामाभ्यां नमः ।
Salutations to Śrī Sītā and Rāma.

मातापितृभ्यो नमः ।
Salutations to mother and father.

सर्वेभ्यो महाजनेभ्यो नमः ।
Salutations to all revered and noble people.

आचमनम्

दीपाराधनम्

दीपस्त्वं ब्रह्मरूपोऽसि ज्योतिषां प्रभुरव्ययः ।
सौभाग्यं देहि पुत्रांश्च सर्वान् कामांश्च देहि मे ॥
O sacred lamp, You are of the form of Brahman and the imperishable Lord of all lights. Grant me good fortune, children and fulfillment of my righteous desires.

भो दीप देवि रूपस्त्वं कर्मसाक्षी ह्यविघ्नकृत् ।
यावत्पूजां करिष्यामि तावत् त्वं सुस्थिरो भव ॥
O Divine Lamp, You are the embodiment of the Divine, the witness of actions and the remover of obstacles. Remain steadily present for the duration of this worship.

दीपाराधन मुहूर्तः सुमुहूर्तोऽस्तु ॥
May the time of lamp worship be highly auspicious.

भूतोच्छाटनम्

उत्तिष्ठन्तु भूतपिशाचाः ये एते भूमिभारकाः ।
एतेषामविरोधेन ब्रह्मकर्म समारभे ॥
May spirits and negative forces that burden this place depart. Without obstruction from them, I begin this sacred spiritual act.

अपसर्पन्तु ते भूता ये भूता भूमिसंस्थिताः ।
ये भूता विघ्नकर्तारस्ते गच्छन्तु शिवाज्ञया ॥
May all such beings and forces residing here withdraw. May those who cause obstacles depart by the command of Lord Śiva.

प्राणायामः

ॐ भूः । ॐ भुवः । ॐ सुवः । ॐ महः । ॐ जनः । ॐ तपः । ॐ सत्यम् ।
ॐ तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यं भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि ।
धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात् ॥
We meditate upon the divine radiance of Savitṛ, the most exalted Divine Light. May that sacred Light inspire and guide our intellect.

ॐ आपो ज्योती रसोऽमृतं ब्रह्म भूर्भुवः सुवरोम् ॥
Water, light, essence, immortality and Brahman are the Divine Reality encompassing the earthly, atmospheric and celestial realms.

सङ्कल्पः

मम उपात्त समस्त दुरितक्षय द्वारा, मम/अस्माकं सहकुटुम्बस्य क्षेम-स्थैर्य-धैर्य-वीर्य-विजय-अभय-आयुः-आरोग्य-ऐश्वर्य-अभिवृद्ध्यर्थं, धर्मार्थ-काम-मोक्ष-चतुर्विध-पुरुषार्थ-फल-सिद्ध्यर्थं, सर्वाभीष्ट-सिद्ध्यर्थं, श्रीपरमेश्वर-प्रीत्यर्थं, यावच्छक्ति ध्यान-आवाहनादि-षोडशोपचार-पूजां करिष्ये ॥
For the destruction of accumulated difficulties and impurities, and for the welfare, stability, courage, strength, victory, fearlessness, longevity, health and prosperity of myself and my family; for the fulfillment of Dharma, Artha, Kāma and Mokṣa; for the fulfillment of all cherished aspirations; and for the pleasure of Lord Parameśvara, I shall perform this worship with meditation, invocation and the sixteen traditional offerings to the best of my ability.

तदङ्ग कलशाराधनं करिष्ये ॥
As a part of this worship, I shall perform the worship of the sacred Kalaśa.

कलशाराधनम्

कलशे गन्ध पुष्पाक्षतैरभ्यर्च्य ।
I worship the Kalaśa with sandalwood paste, flowers and sacred rice grains.

कलशे उदकं पूरयित्वा ।
I fill the Kalaśa with water.

कलशस्योपरि हस्तं निधाय ।
I place my hand upon the top of the Kalaśa.

कलशस्य मुखे विष्णुः कण्ठे रुद्रः समाश्रितः ।
मूले त्वस्य स्थितो ब्रह्मा मध्ये मातृगणाः स्मृताः ॥
Lord Viṣṇu resides at the mouth of the Kalaśa, Lord Rudra at its neck, Lord Brahmā at its base, and the divine Mothers are remembered as residing in its middle.

कुक्षौ तु सागराः सर्वे सप्तद्वीपा वसुन्धरा ।
ऋग्वेदोऽथ यजुर्वेदः सामवेदो ह्यथर्वणः ॥
All the oceans and the Earth with its seven continents are present within it. The Ṛgveda, Yajurveda, Sāmaveda and Atharvaveda are also present within it.

अङ्गैश्च सहिताः सर्वे कलशाम्बु समाश्रिताः ॥
Together with their associated branches, they abide within the sacred water of the Kalaśa.

गङ्गे च यमुने चैव गोदावरी सरस्वति ।
नर्मदे सिन्धु कावेरी जलेऽस्मिन् सन्निधिं कुरु ॥
O sacred rivers Gaṅgā, Yamunā, Godāvarī, Sarasvatī, Narmadā, Sindhu and Kāverī, be present in these waters.

कावेरी तुङ्गभद्रा च कृष्णवेणी च गौतमी ।
भागीरथीति विख्याताः पञ्चगङ्गाः प्रकीर्तिताः ॥
The sacred rivers Kāverī, Tuṅgabhadrā, Kṛṣṇaveṇī, Gautamī and Bhāgīrathī are renowned as the five Gaṅgās.

आयान्तु देवपूजार्थं मम दुरितक्षयकारकाः ।
कलशोदकेन पूजा द्रव्याणि सम्प्रोक्ष्य, देवं सम्प्रोक्ष्य, आत्मानं च सम्प्रोक्ष्य ॥
May these sacred waters come for divine worship and destroy my accumulated impurities. I sprinkle the worship materials, the deity and myself with the water of the Kalaśa.

शङ्खपूजा

शङ्खं चन्द्रार्क दैवतं मध्ये वरुण दैवताम् ।
पृष्ठे प्रजापतिं विन्द्यादग्रे गङ्गा सरस्वती ॥
The conch is associated with the deities of the Moon and Sun; Varuṇa is present in its middle, Prajāpati at its back, and Gaṅgā and Sarasvatī at its front.

त्रैलोक्ये यानि तीर्थानि वासुदेवस्य आज्ञया ।
शङ्खे तिष्ठन्तु विप्रेन्द्राः तस्मात् शङ्खं प्रपूजयेत् ॥
By the command of Lord Vāsudeva, may all sacred pilgrimage places of the three worlds and the revered sages abide in the conch. Therefore, the conch is worshipped.

ॐ शङ्खाय नमः ।
Salutations to the sacred conch.

ॐ धवलाय नमः ।
Salutations to the pure white one.

ॐ पाञ्चजन्याय नमः ।
Salutations to Pāñcajanya, the sacred conch.

ॐ शङ्खदेवताभ्यो नमः ।
Salutations to the deities associated with the conch.

सकलपूजार्थे अक्षतान् समर्पयामि ॥
I offer sacred unbroken rice for the complete worship.

घण्टानादः

आगमार्थं तु देवानां गमनार्थं तु राक्षसाम् ।
घण्टारवं करोम्यादौ देवताह्वान लाञ्छनम् ॥
I ring the bell at the beginning as a sacred sign for inviting the deities and causing negative forces to depart.

ॐ घण्टादेवताभ्यो नमः ।
Salutations to the deities of the sacred bell.

सकलोपचार पूजार्थे अक्षतान् समर्पयामि ॥
I offer sacred unbroken rice for all the traditional worship offerings.

श्री महागणपति पूजा

ॐ गणानां त्वा गणपतिं हवामहे कविं कवीनां उपमश्रवस्तवम् ।
ज्येष्ठराजं ब्रह्मणां ब्रह्मणस्पत आ नः शृण्वन्नूतिभिः सीद सादनम् ॥
We invoke You, O Lord of the hosts, the wise among the wise and the most renowned. O Lord of sacred knowledge, hear our prayers and come to Your sacred seat.

सुमुखश्चैकदन्तश्च कपिलो गजकर्णकः ।
लम्बोदरश्च विकटो विघ्नराजो गणाधिपः ॥
धूमकेतुर्गणाध्यक्षः फालचन्द्रो गजाननः ।
वक्रतुण्डः शूर्पकर्णो हेरम्बः स्कन्दपूर्वजः ॥
He is the Beautiful-Faced One, One-Tusked One, Kapila, Elephant-Eared One, Large-Bellied One, Formidable One, Lord of Obstacles and Lord of the Hosts. He is Dhūmaketu, Lord of the Gaṇas, Crescent-Moon-Crowned One, Elephant-Faced One, Curved-Trunked One, Large-Eared One, Heramba and the elder brother of Skanda.

ॐ श्रीमहागणपतये नमः ।
Salutations to Śrī Mahāgaṇapati.

ध्यायामि । आवाहयामि । आसनं समर्पयामि ।
I meditate upon You. I invoke You. I offer You a seat.

पाद्यं समर्पयामि । अर्घ्यं समर्पयामि । आचमनीयं समर्पयामि ।
I offer water for washing Your feet, water for respectful reception, and water for sipping.

स्नानं समर्पयामि । वस्त्रं समर्पयामि । यज्ञोपवीतं समर्पयामि ।
I offer a sacred bath, garments and the sacred thread.

गन्धं समर्पयामि । पुष्पाणि समर्पयामि ।
I offer fragrant sandalwood paste and flowers.

धूपमाघ्रापयामि । दीपं दर्शयामि ।
I offer incense and show the sacred lamp.

नैवेद्यं समर्पयामि । ताम्बूलं समर्पयामि ।
I offer food and Tāmbūla.

नीराजनं समर्पयामि । मन्त्रपुष्पं समर्पयामि ।
I offer Nīrājana and sacred flowers accompanied by mantras.

प्रदक्षिण नमस्कारान् समर्पयामि ॥
I offer circumambulation and prostrations.

षोडशोपचार पूजा

शिव ध्यानम्

कर्पूर गौरं करुणावतारं
संसारसारं भुजगेन्द्र हारम् ।
सदा रमन्तं हृदयारविन्दे
भवं भवानी सहितं नमामि ॥
I bow to Lord Śiva, who is pure and radiant like camphor, the embodiment of compassion, the essence of worldly existence, adorned with the king of serpents, and ever dwelling in the lotus of the heart together with Goddess Bhavānī.

वन्दे महेशं सुरसिद्धसेवितं
देवाङ्गना गीत सुनृत्य तुष्टम् ।
पर्यङ्कगं शैलसुतासमेतं
कल्पद्रुमारण्यगतं प्रसन्नम् ॥
I bow to Lord Maheśa, served by gods and perfected beings, pleased by the songs and graceful dances of celestial beings, seated with the Daughter of the Mountain and dwelling peacefully in the forest of wish-fulfilling trees.

ध्यायेन्नित्यं महेशं रजतगिरिनिभं चारुचन्द्रावतंसं
रत्नाकल्पोज्ज्वलाङ्गं परशुवरमृगाभीति हस्तं प्रसन्नम् ।
पद्मासीनं समन्तात् स्तुतममरगणैर्व्याघ्रकृत्तिं वसानं
विश्वाद्यं विश्ववन्द्यं निखिल भयहरं पञ्चवक्त्रं त्रिनेत्रम् ॥
One should constantly meditate upon Lord Maheśa, who shines like a silver mountain, bears the beautiful crescent moon, whose body is radiant with jewels, and whose hands hold the axe and deer while granting fearlessness. He is seated upon a lotus, praised by the hosts of gods, clothed in tiger skin, the origin of the universe, worshipped by the entire world, remover of all fear, five-faced and three-eyed.

ॐ तत्पुरुषाय विद्महे महादेवाय धीमहि ।
तन्नो रुद्रः प्रचोदयात् ॥
We contemplate the Supreme Person and meditate upon Mahādeva. May Rudra inspire and guide us.

ॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम् ।
उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान्मृत्योर्मुक्षीय मा अमृतात् ॥
We worship the Three-Eyed Lord, fragrant and nourishing. May He liberate us from the bondage of death, just as a ripe fruit is released from its stem, but may He not separate us from immortality.

ध्यायामि । ध्यानं समर्पयामि ॥
I meditate upon You. I offer this meditation.

आवाहनम्

ॐकाराय नमस्तुभ्यं ॐकारप्रिय शङ्कर ।
आवाहनं गृहाणेदं पार्वतीप्रिय वल्लभ ॥
Salutations to You, O Śaṅkara, who are the sacred Om and who love Om. O Beloved of Goddess Pārvatī, please accept this invocation.

ॐ नमः शिवाय ।
Salutations to Lord Śiva.

आवाहयामि । स्थापयामि । पूजयामि ॥
I invoke You, establish You and worship You.

आसनम्

नमस्ते गिरिजानाथ कैलासगिरि मन्दिर ।
सिंहासनं मया दत्तं स्वीकुरुष्व उमापते ॥
Salutations to the Lord of Girijā, whose abode is Mount Kailāsa. O Lord of Umā, please accept this throne offered by me.

ॐ नमः शिवाय ।
Salutations to Lord Śiva.

आसनं समर्पयामि ॥
I offer You a seat.

पाद्यम्

महादेव जगन्नाथ भक्तानामभयप्रद ।
पाद्यं गृहाण देवेश मम सौख्यं विवर्धय ॥
O Mahādeva, Lord of the universe and giver of fearlessness to devotees, accept this water for Your feet and increase my well-being.

ॐ नमः शिवाय ।
Salutations to Lord Śiva.

पादयोः पाद्यं समर्पयामि ॥
I offer water for washing Your feet.

अर्घ्यम्

शिवाप्रिय नमस्तेऽस्तु पावनं जलपूरितम् ।
अर्घ्यं गृहाण भगवन् गाङ्गेय कलशस्थितम् ॥
O Beloved of Śivā, salutations to You. O Bhagavān, accept this sacred water offered as Arghya from the Kalaśa containing the holy Gaṅgā water.

Salutations to Lord Śiva.

हस्तयोः अर्घ्यं समर्पयामि ॥
I offer respectful water for Your hands.

आचमनीयम्

वामदेव सुराधीश वन्दिताङ्घ्रि सरोरुह ।
गृहाणाचमनं देव करुणा वरुणालय ॥
O Vāmadeva, Lord of the gods, whose lotus feet are revered, accept this water for ritual sipping, O compassionate Lord.

ॐ नमः शिवाय ।
Salutations to Lord Śiva.

मुखे आचमनीयं समर्पयामि ॥
I offer water for sipping.

स्नानम्

आपो हिष्ठा मयोभुवस्ता न ऊर्जे दधातन ।
महे रणाय चक्षसे ॥
यो वः शिवतमो रसस्तस्य भाजयतेह नः ।
उशतीरिव मातरः ॥
तस्मा अरङ्गमाम वो यस्य क्षयाय जिन्वथ ।
आपो जनयथा च नः ॥
O sacred waters, bestow upon us happiness and nourishment and grant us strength and clarity. May we receive Your most auspicious essence as loving mothers nourish their children. We approach You and ask You to bless and renew us.

शुद्धोदक स्नानं समर्पयामि ॥
I offer a bath with pure water.

स्नानानन्तरम् आचमनीयं समर्पयामि ॥
After the sacred bath, I offer water for sipping.

वस्त्रम्

वस्त्रयुग्मं च दिव्यं च शोभनं प्रीति वर्धनम् ।
I offer a pair of divine and beautiful garments that enhance joy and auspiciousness.

I offer garments.

यज्ञोपवीतम्

यज्ञोपवीतं परमं पवित्रं प्रजापतेर्यत्सहजं पुरस्तात् ।
आयुष्यमग्र्यं प्रतिमुञ्च शुभ्रं यज्ञोपवीतं बलमस्तु तेजः ॥
This sacred thread is supremely pure and associated with Prajāpati. May this pure sacred thread bestow longevity, strength and spiritual radiance.

गन्धम्

श्रीखण्डं चन्दनं दिव्यं गन्धाढ्यं सुमनोहरम् ।
विलेपनं सुरश्रेष्ठ प्रीत्यर्थं प्रतिगृह्यताम् ॥
O Supreme among the divine beings, please accept this beautiful and fragrant divine sandalwood paste offered for Your pleasure.

अर्चना

अक्षतान् धवलान् दिव्यान् पुष्पाणि च सुगन्धीनि ।
भक्त्या दत्तानि गृह्यन्तां सर्वदेवाः प्रसीदत ॥
May all the deities graciously accept these pure, sacred rice grains and fragrant flowers offered with devotion.

ॐ शिवाय नमः — पादौ पूजयामि ।

Salutations to Maheśvara — I worship His ankles.

Salutations to Pinākin — I worship His thighs.

Salutations to the One who bears the Moon upon His head — I worship His waist.

Salutations to Virūpākṣa — I worship His heart.

ॐ कपर्दिने नमः — कण्ठं पूजयामि ।
Salutations to Kapardin — I worship His throat.

ॐ नीललोहिताय नमः — स्कन्धौ पूजयामि ।
Salutations to Nīlalohita — I worship His shoulders.

ॐ शङ्कराय नमः — बाहू पूजयामि ।
Salutations to Śaṅkara — I worship His arms.

ॐ शूलपाणये नमः — हस्तौ पूजयामि ।
Salutations to the Trident-Bearing Lord — I worship His hands.

ॐ खट्वाङ्गिने नमः — मुखं पूजयामि ।
Salutations to the One who bears the Khaṭvāṅga — I worship His face.

ॐ अम्बिकानाथाय नमः — नेत्रे पूजयामि ।
Salutations to the Lord of Ambikā — I worship His eyes.

ॐ श्रीकण्ठाय नमः — शिरः पूजयामि ।
Salutations to Śrīkaṇṭha — I worship His head.

ॐ भक्तवत्सलाय नमः — सर्वाण्यङ्गानि पूजयामि ॥
Salutations to the One who loves His devotees — I worship all His limbs.

Recite the Śiva Aṣṭottara Śata Nāmāvalī, or at least a few known names of Lord Śiva. Offer flowers or sacred rice grains with each name.

अथवा शिव नामावली पठनम् ॥
Alternatively, recite the sacred names of Lord Śiva.

ॐ नमः शिवाय ।
Salutations to Lord Śiva.

अष्टोत्तर शत नामावली पूजां समर्पयामि ।
I offer worship with the 108 sacred names.

अक्षतान् पुष्पाणि च समर्पयामि ॥
I offer sacred rice grains and flowers.

धूपम्

वनस्पत्युद्भवैर्दिव्यैः नानागन्धैः सुसंयुतः ।
आघ्रेयः सर्वदेवानां धूपोऽयं प्रतिगृह्यताम् ॥
May this divine incense, prepared from plants and enriched with various fragrances, be accepted as an offering to the Divine.

ॐ नमः शिवाय ।
Salutations to Lord Śiva.

धूपमाघ्रापयामि ॥
I offer incense for Your acceptance.

दीपम्

साज्यं त्रिवर्ति संयुक्तं वह्निना योजितं प्रियम् ।
गृहाण मङ्गलं दीपं त्रैलोक्य तिमिरापहम् ॥
Please accept this auspicious lamp prepared with ghee and three wicks, which removes the darkness of the three worlds.

ॐ नमः शिवाय ।
Salutations to Lord Śiva.

दीपं दर्शयामि ॥
I show the sacred lamp.

नैवेद्यम्

नैवेद्यं गृह्यतां देव भक्त्या सम्पादितं मया ।
इदं फलं च पानीयं सर्वोपचार संयुतम् ॥
O Lord, please accept this food offering prepared by me with devotion, together with fruit and water and accompanied by the traditional offerings.

ॐ भूर्भुवः सुवः । तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यं भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि ।
धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात् ॥
We meditate upon the divine radiance of Savitṛ. May that Divine Light inspire and guide our intellect.

सत्यं त्वा ऋतेन परिषिञ्चामि ।
I sprinkle and sanctify this offering with truth and sacred order.

अमृतमस्तु । अमृतोपस्तरणमसि ।
May it become immortal and sacred. You are the sacred foundation of immortality.

ॐ प्राणाय स्वाहा । ॐ अपानाय स्वाहा । ॐ व्यानाय स्वाहा ।
Oblation to Prāṇa, Apāna and Vyāna.

ॐ उदानाय स्वाहा । ॐ समानाय स्वाहा ।
Oblation to Udāna and Samāna.

मध्ये मध्ये पानीयं समर्पयामि ।
I offer water from time to time.

अमृतापिधानमसि ।
You are the covering of immortality.

उत्तरापोशनं समर्पयामि ।
I offer water for cleansing after the offering.

हस्तौ प्रक्षालयामि । पादौ प्रक्षालयामि ।
I offer water for washing the hands and feet.

शुद्धाचमनीयं समर्पयामि ॥
I offer pure water for ritual sipping.

ॐ नमः शिवाय ।

नैवेद्यं समर्पयामि ॥
I offer the sacred food offering.

ताम्बूलम्

पूगीफलश्च कर्पूरैः नागवल्लीदलैर्युतम् ।
मुक्ताचूर्ण संयुक्तं ताम्बूलं प्रतिगृह्यताम् ॥
Please accept this Tāmbūla prepared with areca nut, camphor, betel leaves and fragrant powder.

ॐ नमः शिवाय ।

ताम्बूलं समर्पयामि ॥
I offer Tāmbūla.

नीराजनम्

वेदाहमेतं पुरुषं महान्तम् । आदित्यवर्णं तमसस्तु पारे ।
सर्वाणि रूपाणि विचित्य धीरः । नामानि कृत्वाऽभिवदन् यदास्ते ॥
I know that Supreme Being, the Great Cosmic Person, radiant like the Sun and beyond darkness. Having manifested all forms and given them names, the wise Divine Being abides as the Supreme Reality.

ॐ नमः शिवाय ।
Salutations to Lord Śiva.

नीराजनं समर्पयामि ॥
I offer the sacred Nīrājana, the waving of lights.

मन्त्रपुष्पम्

नमो हिरण्यबाहवे हिरण्यवर्णाय हिरण्यरूपाय हिरण्यपतयेऽम्बिकापतये उमापतये पशुपतये नमो नमः ॥
Repeated salutations to the Golden-Armed, Golden-Hued, Golden-Formed Lord, the Lord of Golden Splendour, the Lord of Ambikā, the Lord of Umā and the Lord of all beings.

ॐ नमः शिवाय ।
Salutations to Lord Śiva.

मन्त्रपुष्पं समर्पयामि ॥
I offer sacred flowers accompanied by the mantra.

प्रदक्षिणम्

यानि कानि च पापानि जन्मान्तर कृतानि च ।
तानि तानि प्रणश्यन्ति प्रदक्षिण पदे पदे ॥
Whatever sins have been committed across previous births are destroyed with every step of circumambulation.

पदे पदे सर्वतमो निकृन्तनं
पदे पदे सर्व शुभप्रदायकम् ।
प्रदक्षिणं भक्तियुतेन चेतसा
करोमि मृत्युंजय रक्ष रक्ष माम् ॥
With every step, darkness is cut away and auspiciousness is bestowed. With a mind filled with devotion, I perform this circumambulation. O Mṛtyuñjaya, conqueror of death, protect and protect me.

ॐ नमः शिवाय ।

प्रदक्षिण नमस्कारान् समर्पयामि ॥
I offer circumambulation and prostrations.

नमस्कारः

उरसा शिरसा दृष्ट्या मनसा वचसा तथा ।
पद्भ्यां कराभ्यां कर्णाभ्यां प्रणामोऽष्टाङ्ग उच्यते ॥
Prostration is called Aṣṭāṅga when performed with the chest, head, sight, mind, speech, feet, hands and ears.

ॐ नमः शिवाय ।
Salutations to Lord Śiva.

नमस्कारान् समर्पयामि ॥
I offer my prostrations.

सर्वोपचाराः

ॐ नमः शिवाय ।
Salutations to Lord Śiva.

छत्रं समर्पयामि ।
I offer a ceremonial umbrella.

चामरं समर्पयामि ।
I offer the ceremonial fly-whisk.

गीतं श्रावयामि ।
I offer devotional music.

नृत्यं दर्शयामि ।
I offer sacred dance.

समस्त राजोपचारान् देवोपचारान् समर्पयामि ॥
I offer all royal and divine forms of ceremonial service.

स्तोत्र/सूक्त पठनम्

Recite the Śrī Rudram Namakam, Śiva Pañcākṣarī Stotram, or another appropriate hymn or Sūkta.

क्षमाप्रार्थना

यस्य स्मृत्या च नामोक्त्या तपः पूजा क्रियादिषु ।
न्यूनं सम्पूर्णतां याति सद्यो वन्दे महेश्वरम् ॥
By whose remembrance and utterance of whose name any deficiency in austerity, worship and ritual actions becomes complete, I immediately bow to Lord Maheśvara.

मन्त्रहीनं क्रियाहीनं भक्तिहीनं महेश्वर ।
यत्पूजितं मया देव परिपूर्णं तदस्तु ते ॥
O Maheshvara, if this worship has been deficient in mantra, ritual action or devotion, may whatever I have offered become complete in Your grace.

कायेन वाचा मनसेन्द्रियैर्वा
बुद्ध्यात्मना वा प्रकृतेः स्वभावात् ।
करोमि यद्यत् सकलं परस्मै
नारायणायेति समर्पयामि ॥
Whatever I perform through body, speech, mind, senses, intellect, inner self or according to the tendencies of nature, I offer it all to the Supreme Lord Nārāyaṇa.

अनया ध्यान-आवाहनादि-षोडशोपचार पूजया श्रीपरमेश्वरः सुप्रीतः सुप्रसन्नः वरदो भवतु ॥
May Śrī Parameśvara be greatly pleased, gracious and bestow His blessings through this worship consisting of meditation, invocation and the sixteen traditional offerings.

उद्वासनम्

ॐ नमः शिवाय ।
Salutations to Lord Śiva.

यथास्थानं उद्वासयामि ।
शोभनार्थे क्षेमाय पुनरागमनाय च ॥
I respectfully conclude Your formal presence here and request You to return to Your appropriate divine abode, with the prayer that You may return again for auspiciousness and welfare.

प्रसाद ग्रहणम्

अकालमृत्युहरणं सर्वव्याधिनिवारणम् ।
समस्तपापक्षयकरं देवता पादोदकं शुभम् ॥
The sacred water from the feet of the deity removes untimely death, dispels ailments and destroys accumulated sins; it is highly auspicious.

श्रीपरमेश्वर प्रसादं शिरसा गृह्णामि ॥
I respectfully receive the sacred Prasāda of Śrī Parameśvara upon my head.

ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः ॥
Om. May there be peace, peace, peace.

ॐ तत्सत् ब्रह्मार्पणमस्तु ॥
Om Tat Sat. May this entire worship be offered to Brahman, the Supreme Reality.
