Verse 1

Ādideva namastubhyaṁ prasīda mama Bhāskara।
Divākara namastubhyaṁ Prabhākara namo’stute॥1॥

Meaning:
O Primordial Lord, I bow before You. O Bhaskara (the giver of light), please be gracious to me. O Divakara, the creator of the day, and O Prabhakara, the source of all radiance, I offer my respectful salutations unto You.

Verse 2

Saptāśva-ratham ārūḍhaṁ pracaṇḍaṁ Kaśyapātmajam।
Śveta-padma-dharaṁ devaṁ taṁ Sūryaṁ praṇamāmyaham॥2॥

Meaning:
I bow to Lord Surya, the mighty son of Sage Kashyapa, who rides a chariot drawn by seven magnificent horses and holds a white lotus, illuminating the entire universe with His divine brilliance.

Verse 3

Lohitaṁ ratham ārūḍhaṁ sarva-loka-pitāmaham।
Mahā-pāpa-haraṁ devaṁ taṁ Sūryaṁ praṇamāmyaham॥3॥

Meaning:
I bow to Lord Surya, whose radiant reddish form shines brilliantly upon His celestial chariot. He is the revered grandsire of all the worlds and the divine Lord who destroys even the greatest sins.

Verse 4

Traiguṇyaṁ ca Mahāśūraṁ Brahmā-Viṣṇu-Maheśvaram।
Mahā-pāpa-haraṁ devaṁ taṁ Sūryaṁ praṇamāmyaham॥4॥

Meaning:
I bow to Lord Surya, who embodies the three qualities of nature (Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas), whose power reflects the divine essence of Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheshwara, and who removes all great sins.

Verse 5

Bṛṁhitaṁ tejaḥ-puñjaṁ ca vāyum ākāśam eva ca।
Prabhuṁ ca sarva-lokānāṁ taṁ Sūryaṁ praṇamāmyaham॥5॥

Meaning:
I bow to Lord Surya, the boundless mass of divine light, who pervades the air and the sky, and who is the Supreme Lord and sustainer of all the worlds.

Verse 6

Bandhūka-puṣpa-saṅkāśaṁ hāra-kuṇḍala-bhūṣitam।
Eka-cakra-dharaṁ devaṁ taṁ Sūryaṁ praṇamāmyaham॥6॥

Meaning:
I bow to Lord Surya, whose brilliant complexion resembles the vibrant Bandhuka flower, who is adorned with beautiful ornaments, and who rides the divine one-wheeled celestial chariot.

Verse 7

Taṁ Sūryaṁ jagat-kartāraṁ mahā-tejaḥ-pradīpanam।
Mahā-pāpa-haraṁ devaṁ taṁ Sūryaṁ praṇamāmyaham॥7॥

Meaning:
I bow to Lord Surya, the creator and nourisher of the universe, whose immense radiance illumines all creation and whose divine grace removes every great sin.

Verse 8

Taṁ Sūryaṁ jagatāṁ nāthaṁ jñāna-vijñāna-mokṣadam।
Mahā-pāpa-haraṁ devaṁ taṁ Sūryaṁ praṇamāmyaham॥8॥
