Salasar Balaji Temple, also known as Salasar Dham, is a revered Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Hanuman, located in Salasar, Churu district, Rajasthan, along NH‑65 near Sujangarh.

Notably, the idol is self‑manifested (Swayambhu) and uniquely depicts Hanuman with a round face, beard, and moustache—a rare form globally.

Mythological Significance & History

Ancient legend holds that in Asota village, a Jat farmer’s plough unearthed the idol where he offered lunch to it. Simultaneously, Mohandas Maharaj and local landlord had dreams instructing them to consecrate the idol at Salasar. The temple was first built in 1754 by Mohandas Maharaj with Muslim artisans, later renovated by the rulers of Sikar using marble, silver, and gold detailing.

Significance of the Temple

Salasar Balaji is considered a powerful Shakti Sthal, known for granting wishes and blessings for prosperity, health, and fulfilment Special rituals include coconut-tying (moli tied to a coconut), first performed by Rao Raja Devi Singh, believed to result in miraculous answers to prayers .Devotees perform Savamani offering (up to 50 kg of sweet prasad) and continuous Ram Bhajan recitations, including Sundarkand every Tuesday .

Architecture of the Temple

Built over ~2 years using white marble, limestone, cement, and bricks; decorated lavishly with gold and silver motifs, mosaic work, silver doors, and marble-carved gates.

Intricate artistry adorns the Sabha Mandap, parikrama path, and sanctum sanctorum, giving the temple a regal yet devotional ambience.

By Road: Salasar lies on Jaipur–Bikaner highway, 184 km from Jaipur, 27 km from Sujangarh, and ~160 km from Bikaner.

By Rail: Nearest stations: Sujangarh (25–27 km), then taxi or bus onward.

By Air: Closest airport is Jaipur (≈170–184 km); accessible by road thereafter.
