Shri Dwarka Dham

Dwarkadhish Temple, also known as the Jagat Mandir, is one of the most revered Hindu temples in India. Located in Dwarka, Gujarat, the temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna, who is worshipped here as Dwarkadhish, or the King of Dwarka. The Birth of the Temple The origin of the Dwarkadheesh temple starts after Lord Krishna defeats his evil uncle Kans. Krishna left Mathura with the entire Yadava community. He built a beautiful town on the banks of Gomati River and named it ‘Swarnadwarika’. Lord Krishna lived in the royal palace of Dwarka which was engulfed by the sea along with Dwarka city. Generations later, his great-grandson Vajranabha built the temple called Dwarkanatha in the devotion of Lord Krishna. Many believe that Vajranabha erected the temple in one night with the help of a mysterious force. According to another legend, Mira Bai who was a staunch devotee of Sri Krishna had visited this temple. Mira Bai was punished with poison by her father-in-law, but the poison did not affect her. After drinking poison, she visited the temple, and the next morning, only her Ektara (string) and Kartal (cymbal) were left at the feet of Krishna’s idol. Many believed that Mira Bai merged with the idol and attained Moksha at this place. The Dwaraka temple is among the three revered pilgrimage sites associated with Lord Krishna and is part of the 48 Kos Parikrama (circumambulation). Dwarkadheesh temple is the 98th Divya Desam among the 108 religious sites dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The flag on the Sikhara of the temple has sun and moon symbols which indicate that Krishna will be there till Moon and Sun exist on Bhoolok (the earth). Temple Timings Temple Location

Shri Rameshwaram Dham

Rameswaram temple is an amalgamation of regal architectural style and abundant spiritual energy. It is one of the few temples in India depicting the world-famous Dravidian architectural style. Typical of all South Indian temples, Rameswaram has high compound walls (called madils) guarding the temple from all four sides. Stretching over 15 acres, the temple premises also house 22 teerthams (ponds) where devotees take holy dips. Interesting Facts About the Rameshwaram Temple The third corridor of the Rameswaram temple, which has about 1200 pillars standing 22 feet high is considered the world’s largest temple corridor. In honor of the glory of Rameswaram, the British Government had released a stamp having the picture of the temple. These stamps were released in 1935 and were circulated for a few years in the region.  The 22 teerthams inside the temple premises have a unique taste, temperature, curative properties, and salinities. This is quite surprising given the locations of all the teerthams are very close. The teerthams are said to be dug by Lord Rama when he fired his arrows piercing the sand. Rameswaram has an irreplaceable place in the hearts of Shaivites and Devout Hindus from around the world. The temple houses one of the 12 auspicious Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva which are believed to be swayambhoo (self-manifested). Moreover, Rameswaram is also among the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams in India. These are places where revered Shaivaite saints like Appar, Sundarar, and Tiruguna sang glorious hymns of Shiva. Historical evidence claims that Swami Vivekananda also visited the Rameswaram temple before his tour to Chicago. Temple Timings Temple Location

The temple’s main attraction is the enigmatic presence of Lord Jagannath, a form of Vishnu. Every year, millions of devotees visit the temple to witness the grandeur of its Rath Yatra. Architecture of Jagannath Puri Temple The architecture of the Jagannath Puri Temple is truly a marvel to behold. Its classic Oriya design stands as a testament to ancient craftsmanship and devotion. The temple is enclosed by two imposing rectangular walls, covering an expansive area of approximately 4,00,000 square feet. The outer wall, known as Meghanada Pacheri, stands tall at 20 feet, while the inner wall, Kurma Bedha, surrounds the main temple, creating a sacred sanctuary. At the heart of the temple rises the majestic shikhara, or tower, housing the revered deities. The temple comprises four distinct structures arranged in a row: the Vimana, Jagamohan (porch), Nata Mandir, and Bhoga Mandap, each exuding grandeur and spiritual significance. Four ornate gates adorn the temple complex, each symbolizing different animal motifs: the eastern Singhadwara (Lion Gate), southern Ashwadwara (Horse Gate), western Vyaghrasana (Tiger Gate), and northern Hastidwara (Elephant Gate). The Lion Gate on Grand Road serves as the main entrance, welcoming devotees into its sacred precincts. Crowning the temple’s summit is the iconic Nila Chakra, or Blue Wheel, crafted from various metals. A new flag is ceremoniously hoisted atop this sacred wheel every day, symbolizing divine protection and blessings showered upon the faithful. The architecture of Jagannath Puri Temple stands as a timeless testament to India’s rich cultural heritage and spiritual legacy, captivating visitors with its beauty and sanctity.
