Badrinath Temple

Badrinath is the fourth and final stop in the Char Dham Yatra (Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, Badrinath) and is also part of the original Char Dham (Badrinath, Rameswaram, Dwarka, Puri) established by Adi Shankaracharya.






Architecture of the Temple

The temple is built in traditional North Indian style with a colorful façade of stone and wood.
Features:
Tall arched windows
A conical-shaped sanctum (Garbhagriha)
A mandapa (pillared hall) for devotees
The main idol is a 1-meter tall black stone (Shaligram) murti of Lord Badrinarayan in a meditative padmasana posture.
Inside the sanctum, there are also idols of Kubera, Nar-Narayan, Garuda, and Uddhava., where the Pandavas are said to have meditated.
How to Reach to Temple
By Road:
- Well-connected via NH-7 from Rishikesh, Haridwar, Dehradun, and Joshimath.
- The final stretch from Joshimath to Badrinath (44 km) is a scenic mountain drive.
✈️ By Air:
- Nearest Airport: Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun (~315 km)
- From there, taxis and buses to Badrinath are available.
🚆 By Train:
From these stations, you can hire taxis or take buses to reach Badrinath.230–250 km)
Nearest Railway Stations: Rishikesh (295 km), Haridwar (310 km)
