The temple is particularly renowned for its grand festival held every 3 years.

Mythological Significance & History

The origin of the temple dates back more than 700 years.
According to legend, the idol of Bhadrakali was found by a Brahmin sage in a nearby grove and later consecrated at this site.
The temple has deep historical roots in local folklore and ritualistic traditions, particularly among Nair communities and other Hindu groups of the region.
Over the centuries, the temple became an important spiritual and cultural center, especially known for the Triennial Vellayani Devi Festival, one of the longest-running festivals in Kerala.
