Tristrota Shakti Peeth

Tristrota Shakti Peeth, also known as the Bhramari Devi Temple, is a revered shrine situated on the banks of the Teesta River in Shalbari village, under Falakata, Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal.

At this sacred site, Goddess Bhramari—a fierce form of Shakti—is worshipped alongside Lord Shiva, known here as Ishwar.

Mythological Significance & History

According to the legend of the Shakti Peethas, when Lord Vishnu used his Sudarshan Chakra to dismember Sati’s body, her left leg (specifically the thumb) fell at this site, consecrating it as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas .
The exact age of the temple remains unclear, though it dates back centuries

The temple is a single-storied structure painted red, housing idols of Goddess Bhramari and Lord Ishwa.

It reflects typical local Bengali temple architecture, modest yet spiritually resonant.

How to Reach to Temple

By Air: Nearest airport is Bagdogra Airport, approximately 40–50 km away; alternatively, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Airport, Kolkata is also accessible.

By Train: New Jalpaiguri Railway Station is about 40 km away; reach via local buses or taxis.

By Road: Regular bus and taxi services run from Jalpaiguri and Falakata village to the temple.

Local Access: From Siliguri (~45 km), transport via R-N transport buses to Bodaganj, followed by a short walk to the temple
