Rameshwar Mandir, Revdanda

It is located on Rameswaram Island in Tamil Nadu, India, and is celebrated as one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, making it a key pilgrimage site in Hinduism.

Architecture of the Temple

The temple covers around 15 acres, blending Dravidian and Nayaka architectural styles
It features the world’s longest temple corridor—over 1.2 km long, supported by more than 1,212 intricately carved pillars
Majestic gopurams (gateway towers) adorn both east and west entrances, rising to approximately 53 m (east) and 45 m (west)
The temple complex includes several mandapams (halls) such as Nandi, Kalyana, Setupati, Anuppu, and Sukravara mandapams, along with shrines for Parvathavardhini (Parvati), Vishalakshi, Vishnu, and Ganesha
Inside, there are two Shiva lingams—the Vishwalinga (from Kailash) and Ramalinga (made by Sita); devotees worship the former before the latter
