Mangla Gauri Temple, also known as Sarvamangala Devi Temple, is a revered Shakti Peetha located atop Mangalagauri Hill in Gaya, Bihar
Mythology holds that this is where Sati’s breast (symbol of nourishment).fell, marking it as an Upa‑Shakti Peetha among the 51 sacred Shakti sites.
The temple is mentioned in multiple Puranas—including Padma, Vayu, Agni, Devi Bhagavata, and Markandeya Purana.

Significance of the Temple

Devotees worship Mangla Gauri, an embodiment of the benevolent Mother Goddess, believed to bless marital harmony, prosperity, and well‑being.
Every Tuesday during the rainy (monsoon) season, a special ritual is conducted where women observe a fast and offer 16 bangles, 7 fruits, and 5 sweets to the Goddess—a tradition held since ancient times.
The temple hosts shrines to Kali, Ganesha, Shiva, Durga, Hanuman, and Dakshina Kali, enhancing its spiritual importance.
Celebrated festivals include Navratri and Maha Shivaratri, drawing large numbers of devotees

Architecture of the Temple

The temple is constructed in a cave-style or hilltop shrine, facing east, perched atop Mangalagauri Hill.

You reach the temple via a flight of steps or a motorable road, starting near a shrine where Bhima’s knee imprint is said to be preserved—known locally as Bhimvedi Gaya.

The sanctum houses the symbolic depiction of the Goddess and features intricate relief sculptures and a small mandapa (hall) for devotional gatherings.

In the courtyard, there is space for homas (fire rituals), and multiple shrines enrich the temple precincts

How to Reach to Temple

By Train: Gaya Junction railway station is about 5 km away. Taxis, autos, or cabs offer easy onward travel .

By Air: Nearest airport is Gaya Airport, approximately 9 km from the temple. From there, taxis or autos are readily available.

By Road: Well-connected roads link the temple to Gaya city. A short climb or drive will take you up Mangalagauri Hill
