Hayagriva Madhava Temple, Guwahati

The temple is a revered pilgrimage for Hindus as well as Buddhists.






Architecture of the Temple

Built in the Nagara style of temple architecture with unique Assamese influences.
Structure consists of a garbhagriha (sanctum sanctorum) housing the deity, a mandapa (pillared hall), and a shikhara (pyramidal tower).
The temple walls are richly carved with:
Beautiful rows of carved elephants at the base
Figures of Vishnu’s Dashavataras (ten incarnations)
Episodes from the Ramayana and Mahabharata
How to Reach to Temple
By Road: Well connected by road from Guwahati (approx. 1 hour drive). Buses, taxis, and private vehicles are easily available.
By Rail: Nearest major railway station is Guwahati Railway Station (30 km away).
By Air: The nearest airport is Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati (about 35–40 km).
