Mythological Significance & History

The Dwadāsha Jyotirlinga Temple here was inaugurated on 16th February 2011 . While the Jyotirlingas themselves are millennia old (as per the Shiva Purana), this complex brings them together in one devotional space, offering the essence of the 12 holy sites under one roof

Significance of the Temple

Jyotirlingas literally mean “lingam of light”, representing Lord Shiva’s radiant cosmic form. Each jyotirlinga is revered as a supreme manifestation of Shiva himself.
According to Hindu tradition, visiting even a single Jyotirlinga can lead to moksha (spiritual liberation).
This temple compresses the entire Dwadāsha Jyotirlinga pilgrimage into a single pilgrimage site, believed to cleanse navagraha doshas and bestow grace, joy, health, wealth, and peace
