Significance of the Temple

The centerpiece is the Manimahesh Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Devotees believe a pilgrimage to Manimahesh Lake is incomplete without paying obeisance here, especially at the Dharmeshwar Mahadev (Dharamraj) shrine and by bathing in the Brahmani Mata pool nearby.
A unique shrine here is dedicated to Yamraj, the god of death. Local lore tells of his spiritual court and “invisible gates” made of gold, silver, copper, and iron, resonating with mythological themes from the Garuda Purana.
